Lifetime Wishes

Princess Zelda (this Zelda, that is) presides over the Royal Rao Court. Zander doesn't seem to be appreciating the moment.

While facing over in a chess match against her mother, Zelda somehow pops the wish to become a Master Magician. Seeing as I've promised the first LTW to appear for the other two kids, I see no reason not to here. So now Zelda will delve into the realm of magic.

While Zander was in his zany stage, I promised his wish of becoming a Creature-Robot Crossbreeder. Now that I've established Zander as being the "normal" one of the bunch, that doesn't make much sense. But it still sounds fun, so I'm doing it.

Finally, Zara rolled the Renaissance Sim LTW, which was just perfect for Zara. She has three skill-based traits, after all. (Artistic, Athletic, and Virtuoso) It just makes sense for her to have this, even if she probably won't achieve it by the time we move.

I did my math wrong and assumed that Zara would be a Young Adult by the time prom rolled around, so I never paid it much thought for her. (Zander's spouse will be in the next town, and Zelda's spouse is a fair bit older than her) To my surprise, Zara gets a call from Chuck asking her to prom! Needless to say, she says yes.

Roger is slowly climbing through the ranks of the Classical Theatre, recently hitting Rank 9. One more promotion and he's at the top. He's about halfway through Level 9 for Guitar, maxed Handiness, and Level 5 Logic. Plus a great suit. Apparently it's not enough for Roger.

Before I went snooping the Sims Wiki to find a suitable spouse for Zelda, I considered this guy, Grady Borders. I think I remember him popping around as a child. so he's relatively close to Zelda's age. He's not an original townie, but I guess that's okay. (Later I decide that a candidate's originality is more important than their closeness of age, so Grady would've been disqualified anyway)

I didn't even know that teenagers could be zombies, so I suppose it was a learning experience after all.

Amid all the chaos of spouse-hunting, Zelda ages up to a teenager. Now Roger and Mia have to deal with three teenagers. Bless their pixelated souls.

It is at this point that I conclusively conclude that Roger and Mia have different hair colours. One of them has brown hair and black tips, roots, and highlights, while the other has all black with brown highlights. Now it's time to figure out how has which one. *sigh*

Oh, and here's Zelda's makeover. She got the Marielle-cut.

I agree, I would like to know what happens to her later on.  She is such an interesting character.

Zara will not be joining the family to the next town, (Moonlight Falls, I think) which is part of the reason she's been getting more of the focus. She'll still have some time to have a life. Her Young Adult birthday is only two days from Zelda's Teenager birthday, so she'll be doing some interesting things soon.  :D

Prom Hijinks

Way back in the day, Mia was quite anxious to get off of maternity leave so she could go back to work. Now that she has experienced the toils of the medical field, she longs for the opportunity for leave. Too bad somebody keeps cancelling Roger's wishes to have kids...

It's around this point that I realize that my add-ons to the house were less than functional. Four people watching TV in the morning, but only two seats? Not a very good idea. I buy a larger couch and a little chair. If everybody wanted to sit down at once, I'd have a problem, but Roger just strums on his guitar all day when he's not working.

I also trash the little round table with room for only two seats. Instead, I get this much larger table with room for the whole family. I move some other stuff around to make room, but it all works out in the end. Minus the swarm of dirty plates. I leave one or two out for Mia so she can lick the plate and fill her hunger faster.

Fortunately, the prom is literally one day after Zelda's birthday and one day before Zara's. That way, all three of them get to go. I completely forgot what Zara was wearing for formal, but it looks rather nice. Zander looks sharp, and Zelda is the most colorful of them all. "But where's Chuck?" you ask? He is Zara's boyfriend, after all, and he did ask her out. Did he not show up? That'd be rather rude, don't you think?

No, they just left him behind. Chuck got stuck somewhere by the door, probably thanks to the newspapers laying out there. By the time I realized what had happened and moved the papers around, the limo decided to leave. Not a great start to the day for Chuck, but it gets better. During the prom, I took notes on all of the pop-ups I got, and I'll list them below.

Zara and Chuck proved themselves to be pretty much the best couple ever at Prom. Every single message they had related to how much they adored each other. Undoubtedly, they had the best time of all the Raos.

Despite knowing absolutely nobody in school, Zander somehow gets Prom King. (I'm not sure who got Prom Queen. Certainly not Zelda) Some jerk stepped on his foot, and they got into a fight. Later on, Zander was completely dazed by the lights. I'm hoping for an alien baby later on for Zander in the next town. We'll see. Overall, Zander did pretty well.

Zelda had a horrible time, however. She got into two separate fights, was avoided by a non-existent crush, saw somebody with the same dress, and was denied a dance. On the plus-side, she got a romantic interest. On the down-side, he has a chronic case of Townie Blandness. He won't do at all.

While scanning for an increased household mod for The Mole, I decide to hook up the NRAAS Story Progression mod for my projects. Already, I'm finding rather interesting couples forming in town. I thought I'd be a little annoyed by the constant pop-ups telling me about stuff around town, but I like knowing what's going on. It's a little late to solve my spousal issues in this generation, but it ought to prevent that for future towns.

Earlier on, I fixed the bathroom problem by adding another one. Trying to get four people ready in the morning in one bathroom is borderline dysfunctional. Now that we have two, it makes the mornings a lot easier. Plus, Roger now has a music studio after everyone leaves. Everybody wins!

This vampire lady shows off an interaction I hadn't seen before while Mia's out vaccinating people. I'll have to try it out next time I have a vampire. Which might be fairly soon. (For the record, this was supposed to be a lead-in for Zelda talking to my targeted spouse for her, but I forgot to screenshot it. Maybe next time.)

One cool thing I saw in Story Progression is that this guy has a hyphenated name due to his marriage. He's now a Malifa-Annan. His first name has been forgotten, since there was no hyphen in it.

To close this out, here's a shot of Zara as a Young Adult. I decided I didn't like her new hair colour, so I changed it back. However, I think I gave her the wrong parent's hair. All well. She looks pretty good regardless. Too bad Chuck hasn't aged up yet.

Oh No! Not Townie Blandness!! You're right, that simply won't do!  ;) We all know how you feel about the generic look of Townies! I have to say, I think Zara is quite a stunningly attractive Sim. Most of the time I find myself getting a little creeped out by the way some of the Sims age up but in this case, I'd say it worked out wonderfully!

On a side note, poor Chuck! How could they have left him behind? You'd think someone would have noticed!! Perhaps his Watcher? You know, the same Watcher that is probably responsible for canceling out Roger's wishes for a new baby? I don't know, just a theory. <evil grin>

That's one of the great things about the Random Town Jump. By hopping around towns every generation, you get to avoid the swarm of townie-faced Sims and keep a healthy pool of interesting spouses.

Yes, Chuck was probably rather sad about that. Everything seemed to work out for him at Prom, though, and Zara has a way of paying him back.  :-X

Sand on her Knees

Zara knew that she would have sand on her knees by the end of the day. How did she know this, you ask? Why, I told her of course! Apparently, she did not approve, and ran herself into a corner before making the phone call I wanted to screenshot. This backshot was the best I could do in the circumstances. I would've thought she'd be more excited about the whole affair.

But before any of this happened, Zara went to her graduation at City Hall. Not only was she Valedictorian, (which I expected) Zara was also chosen by her peers as the Most Artistic. (which I also expected)

In proud Rao tradition, of course, they left somebody behind. In the warped logic that Sims are infamous for, mothers are apparently uninterested in watching their daughters graduate. Fortunately, this is not the case in our own world. Mia does eventually get her act straight and head over to City Hall.

To celebrate, the Raos head over to the Summer Festival. Roger and Mia sign up for a Hot Dog Eating Contest, but Roger runs off to use the bathroom halfway through. Mia ought to win by default, right?

Wrong. Almost immediately after I took the screenshot above, Mia runs off and vomits on the grass, then wants nothing to do with hot dogs. So it was ultimately a tie.

I thought Zelda was being abducted here, since she randomly hops out of the taxi heading home and stares into the sky. I took a screenshot intending to show the follow-up, but nothing ever happened. Eventually, I remember that Absent-Minded Sims cancel their queue bar occasionally. I'll assume that's what happened here, though I'd never seen it happen while riding in a car.

But at least we got a shiny Greeting Card.

Roger finally maxed out his Guitar skill, earning him a bajillion Lifetime Happiness Points. Once we goes back to work on Saturday, Roger will also achieve his LTW of Hit Movie Conductor. Mia's a bit farther away from hers, and she probably won't quite make it by the time we move to Moonlight Falls. Shouldn't be too hard wrap it up after the move, though.

But back to Zara. Although she annoyed me by putting herself in an inconvenient camera angle, she does manage to invite the recently aged-up Chuck over. I begin to enact my master plan...

... until Chuck abruptly walks out, claiming that, "he needs to get ready for work." Which is rubbish. He leaves at 10:00, and he doesn't need to go to work until 3:00. It should not take five hours to get ready for a job as a Taste Tester.

Zander's garden is going well, which is useful for raising his Gardening skill. His Handiness is in pretty good shape too, but his Fishing is pitiful. We'll have to correct that later.

Some burglar decides to take advantage of the lack of an alarm to try to sneak in. Unfortunately, just because he can't see me doesn't mean I can't see him.

Shortly later, a cop is brawling with aforementioned burglar. She eventually wins and returns Mia's coffee maker. Roger's looking rather sullen mostly because he wanted to fight the burglar himself. Mia's just thankful that the coffee maker was saved, or she'd have to beat him up, too. Poor guy.

Anyway, Zara manages to get Chuck to go to the beach the next day, and he's saying something about the culinary field. While I'm still convinced that Zara has the hidden Natural Cook trait, she doesn't seem terribly interested in the conversation. Perhaps an interjection is necessary.

There, that's better. Still not great, though. What could make this date even better than it already is, I wonder? Oh, I know!

See? I told you Zara would have sand on her knees! Fortunately for both Zara and myself, Chuck gleefully accepts Zara's proposal. My plan is to have Chuck live with the Raos until Zelda is ready to move on. I'll ensure that Zara, Chuck, and any number of little Rao-Lai nooboos have a good home before I take the rest of the household to Moonlight Falls.

Since Zara is, by far, my favorite character at this point, I am so thrilled that you will be taking good care of her before the rest of the Rao Family moves to Moonlight Falls! I don't know what it is about her but I'd even follow her to a Spin-Off story...*hint* *hint*

I can't wait to find out what happens next! Great Update  :D

I agree with Blayzen that Zara is a wonderful character. It's good to know she'll get a family and will live happily ever after, hopefully. :)

In my RTJ the burglar also stole the coffee maker. They must really need the caffeine to stay awake until everybody else is asleep.

I am also rather fond of Zara. Even as I am anxious to get a new start in Moonlight Falls, I'll miss Zara, Chuck, and the Rao-Lai nooboos. If it's any comfort for you, I am saving them to the Bin for future use if necessary.  ;)

Mia's just glad that the burglar was caught, because the fear of not getting her own caffeine fix would inspire her to a wrath that even the Watcher should be frightened of. It's not often a Watcher is afraid of their own Sim, so it's good for us all that we won't have to see it here.  :D

Re: The Rao Random Town Jump: Beach Party (13)

Beach Party

Zara wastes no time in setting up the wedding, on the very same beach that she proposed on. I realize too late that Roger has to work while the wedding was supposed to be occurring. I thought about letting Roger take the day off, but his next day of work was a good bit away and I wanted him to top his career before his birthday. So Roger won't be attending. I thought there were more screenshots in between, but either I misplaced them or never even took any. Regardless, the wedding arrives faster than I expected.

The wedding itself is a rather low-key event, just family and friends. (And I don't think most of the guests were technically classified as "friends") The wedding was apparently casual enough for Chuck to wear this curious attire for his own wedding. We'll have to get him a makeover once he moves in. His dancing skills seem fine enough, in any case.

That is, until Zara gets her foot stomped on repeatedly. Makes sense, I suppose, since I believe Zara and Chuck are both clumsy. Still makes for an interesting screenshots, of which we'll have no shortage of.

I ultimately decide I've had enough of the party, so I have Zara and Chuck get married in fairly short order. Unfortunately, my timing led to a wedding watched by a grand total of nobody. Yes, that is Mia passing out in the background. She missed her coffee break and didn't last very long.

Meanwhile, Zander is off swimming in the ocean with most of the guests. (Two of them are off-screen) I guess that since Zara and Chuck are far enough away from the ocean that they don't automatically head over to watch. So that's three family members down.

The only people to actually watch the wedding are Zelda and Juan Inkbeard Jr. If this were my wedding, I'd be rather bothered by the lack of care, though I also think I wouldn't have held a wedding six hours after a proposal in the first place.

Zara and Chuck are happy, though, and I suppose that's really all that matters. Plus, Mia finally wakes up and goes home. The rest of the family follow shortly thereafter.

The last one to leave is Zander, who looks rather confused. He doesn't remember Zara getting married at all. Perhaps if he had actually watched the ceremony, he'd have figured that out. *sigh*

At least Roger maxed out his career. After nearly two life stages of working, Roger is now a Hit Movie Composer. Just in time for his Elder birthday, too. He's either aging up tomorrow or the day after.

As is the custom with all new household members, Chuck gets a makeover. I resisted the urge to give him a beard as I often do with my male Sims, though I don't think his face really works well with facial hair. I really like his glasses and his eyebrows. At first, I thought he had that greenish-brown colour I so dislike, but he actually doesn't. Fortunately for me.

To close this update, I'll leave you a shot of Zara and Chuck... bonding.  ;)

Tempting Fate

Despite Chuck's LTW being Illustrious Author, I've decided to have him join the Music career. I changed his LTW after his child was born. (spoiler alert)

Thanks to Chuck, the household finally owns a car. It's orders of magnitude worse than the Bwan Speedster Roger gets to carpool in, but it's faster than a taxi. Hopefully.

As the screenshot indicates, Zara and Chuck's moment of "bonding" was successful. I briefly consider giving Zara a maternity outfit, but I decided against it since I knew I'd be doing a lot of makeovers over the next few days. Now just send Zara back to painting like she was doing before...

Oh. Apparently Zara wasn't painting before she threw up. Oops.

Fortunately, thanks to the presence of three Brave Sims, (Roger, Zander, and Chuck) the fire is put out before it can spread. Nothing is burnt to a crisp, not even the stove. I still got insurance returns, though, so I basically got $120 for nothing. Maybe I should have fires more often!

Nah, I'm just kidding. What are the odds of two fires in one update, anyway?

A few hours later, Zara confirms my suspicions. Her outfit is far too bright to be Zara's.

Zara is immediately whisked off to the grocery store to purchase produce of indeterminate effect. My plan was to leave the gender entirely random, but since Chuck and Zara really needed some LTH points, I let them get the gender they both wanted.

Gratuitous Chuck sleepwear shot. That was the sleepwear he aged up in, and I liked to so much that I kept it. I get him dressed up and heading over to the theatre to join the career then practice some guitar. I leave him alone for a while, and come back to...

This. Not sure if this is some sort of werewolf friendship ritual, or if he just needed a belly rub.

Like I mentioned before, Roger now gets driven to and from work in a Bwan Speedster. I can technically afford one of my own, but I'm saving their money for a house in the next town.

Zara is steadily climbing towards a Painting SuperMax, so now she's started with Large painting. Her very first one is the Mortimer-Bella picture, so I hang it above their bed. They're even sleeping on the same sides as the painting.

Roger's birthday happens to be today and he doesn't like it. His plan is to close his eyes and hope the sparkles don't see him. Not a bad plan, necessarily.

Unfortunately, sparkles do not work like that, and he gets swept up in the sparkles like many before him. Oddly, he ages up with this circlet thing instead of his normal hair. It's not like he had store hair or anything.

Anyway, I give him grey hair instead of white, grow his beard out a bit, and add glasses. I think Roger looks great. There's more screenshots, but I'll save them for next time. Hey, at least we didn't get another fire, right?

Dang it, Zara, not again!

Wonder Baby

Now that Roger is an Elder, I took the opportunity to make his music outfit his formalwear as well. It just looks so cool that I have to see it more often. Even if he's playing chess.

Chuck looks surprisingly good in that default Music career outfit. I wouldn't have changed it even if he didn't, but it's a nice touch.

Before I know it, Zara is in labour. I briefly considered just keeping her at the house, but then I figured everyone would start freaking out, and who wants that? Off to the hospital she goes. Unfortunately, the timing of her pregnancy coincides with a few other events.

Like Zander's birthday. Ordinarily, I wouldn't mind that they happened on the same day. But they were happening literally at the same exact time! I was wondering who would come first, the birthday or the birth. As it turns out, they came together.

Zander first gets the transition, plus the message about aging up and getting to choice a trait. Before I get to the trait selection screen, Rao-Lai nooboo is born, allowing me to pick their name and saying I can pick both of their traits. Then it hops back to Zander's trait selection, which I randomly roll. (Vegetarian, for those of you who were wondering) Rao-Lai nooboo never gets to pick their traits. Once they age up to Toddler, I should be able to use testingCheats to roll some for them.

Fortunately, little Zaahira is fine, minus her missing traits. She's like some sort of Wonder Baby, I suppose. Zelda's kids won't be using the Z theme, (and I probably won't have control of Zander's) so I give Zara's daughter a Z name as a last homage. As it turns out, Zaahir (and by extension, Zaahira) means "to shine" or "to radiate," which is pretty neat.

Zander gets his own makeover is fairly short order. Unlike Chuck, I think Zander looks rather good with a beard.

I don't normally show shots of the new outfits, but I'm making an exception here. Zander automatically spawned with one of my wetsuits I designed for one of the Create-A-Sim contests. Since the wetsuit actually suited him, (pun intended) I decided to keep it.

Also, Mia aged up. Very gracefully, I may add. I rather like the shirt she has now. I might like her Elder outfit more than her Adult outfit!

Unfortunately, despite my plans to the contrary, Zaahira will be the only Rao-Lai nooboo we'll get to see. I simply don't have enough room in the house for another, and I'm not particularly inclined to re-do the house so close to the move. We'll get to see Zaahira as a toddler, though, and I'll save her to the Bin and age her up to see what she ultimately looks like. Nothing else for the Wonder Baby.

Aw, the little traitless nooboo.  Poor thing.  I love this story so far!
