The Rao Random Town Jump: The Move (17)
« on: February 03, 2013, 09:23:24 PM »
After toying with the idea for a while, I've decided to start a Random Town Jump Project, masterfully pioneered by judewright. I'm going to stick as closely to her original guidelines as possible, though I'm making a small alteration to how I select my Lifetime Wish. I'll randomize traits, but won't select their LTW until they are a Young Adult. I'll choose one of the five options available at random, rather than from the whole list of possible LTWs. That way, it's still random, but not quite as unpredictable.

Anyway, let's get this show on the road.

Town 1: Barnacle Bay

An Unexpected Arrival
An Arrival (For Real This Time)
Nooboo Frustrations
Inspired by a True Name
Triple Z
Snazzy Jacket Time
Zombie Repellent
Zara the Conductor
Lai-ing Around
Lifetime Wishes
Prom Hijinks
Sand on her Knees
Beach Party
Tempting Fate
Wonder Baby
The Last Update
The Move

Town 2: Moonlight Falls

An Unexpected Arrival

Welcome to the Rao household! They seemed perfect for the role as founding family of a Town Jump. I've only ever played in Barnacle Bay once, so I don't really know what to expect here. Hopefully the Raos are nice little Sims.

Roger Rao seems like a nice enough guy, aspiring to become a hit movie composer. Not sure if he's quite John Williams material, but he looks pretty cool, so I guess it evens out in the end.

Mia Rao's not that bad, either. I'd give her a makeover too, in order to change his overly long hairstyle to something more manageable, but there's a bit of an issue.

It seems that Mrs. Rao is already pregnant, which I didn't think was possible. I mean, Claire and Justine were pregnant, but they weren't showing yet. Since the heir has to be conceived in-game, this baby cannot be the heir, but I still want him/her to be a loved member of the Rao household. It does mean that Mia has to keep her Rapunzel hair for a little while longer.

All this talk of heirs and makeovers and projects is too tiring for poor Roger, and he decides to take a nap in the new rocking chair I decided to indulge the Raos with. In hindsight, this wasn't such a great idea, since they both hog the chair as much as possible. Can't blame them, I guess: rocking chairs are awesome.

I sent Mia to the grocery store to buy some watermelons, since Roger was the only one who had any gender-specific wishes, and he wanted a girl. However, by the time Mia got there, Roger had changed his mind and wanted a son. So that was pretty much a waste of time.

Still, it gave me the opportunity to have Mia quit her job as a Thug (her Lifetime Wish is to be a world-renowned surgeon, and medicine and crime don't exactly mix) and announce her pregnancy to some random Sim. All in all, not a total loss.

The Raos' idea of interior decor is a bit schizophrenic. On the one hand, they were savvy enough to get a beautiful stone chess table. Then they go and buy tacky plastic chairs from Candy Land or something. Sims will be Sims, I suppose.

Their mis-matched chess match was suddenly interrupted when Mia had to go the hospital. Already? It hasn't even been a whole day yet! I figured I had at least another day before I had nooboos.

Great start, Audren! I really like your casual writing style  :). I've never played Banacle Bay before, so I look forward to seeing what Mia and Roger's kids look like!

An Arrival (For Real This Time)

Not really. She only went to the hospital because they was an option called "Medical Advice." I've never seen it before, and still don't know what it does, because nothing happened except I was $200 in the hole.

If Roger really wants to become the next hit composer, he's gonna need to pump his guitar level up. He's only level 3 right now, barely enough to get a promotion.

To counter-balance this, Roger has his Handiness skill nearly maxed out. I suppose Mrs. Williams wishes that her husband John got up and tinkered around the house every once in a while, and Mia is no different. Still, considering that Mia is the one with the Handy trait, it seems a bit lazy.

Okay. This time, Mia's actually giving birth. See? Nooboo face, can't fake that!

Like the loving father-to-be that he is, Roger faithfully takes his wife to the hospital, not saying a word about the fact that the only sleep he's gotten in this file so far was a nap on the rocking chair. Mia has more important things to worry about.

Even after Roger and Mia go inside the hospital, the good citizens of Barnacle bay are still freaking out. Ahmed Barbarossa may be crying about his fairyness, though. I'm not quite sure. They are pretty epic wings, though. All in all, I wouldn't complain.

And so little Zara Rao was born. Like I've said before, she can't be the heir, but I'm still going to treat her like she could be, which means random traits and fulfilling her Lifetime Wish. Apparently Mia's pregnancy was subpar, so Zara was born with Artistic and Athletic. Kind of like Leonardo da Vinci if he learned to play soccer.

Fortunately, Mia didn't suffer from pregnancy brain after Zara was born. I was kind of hoping for her to run all the way home from the hospital or something stupid like that. Would've made a good screenshot for Weird Pics or Something New, t the very least.

Roger takes the opportunity to catch up on some well-deserved rest. Too bad he's the only one employed right now. Better not tell him that part yet.

I took this screenshot to be the last screenshot of the update, but I forgot to change Mia's outfit! So, I played for a little while longer to get her clothes all set up, and ended up with another update of screenshots! So you might see that tomorrow.

For now, I'll end with baby Zara looking quite happy with her mother's makeover, thrilled that she is no longer choking on her Rapunzel hair.

Nooboo Frustrations

I haven't had a slob in quite a while, so I wasn't used to having Mia lick her plates clean. I don't really mind, though. It fills her hunger meter a lot faster than sitting down and eating, and she can even do it to other peoples' plates. (though that would be kind of disgusting) Last time I had a Slob, I'd have her lick the plates clean so she'd have more time to work out.

Eventually Roger got a wish to clean the dishes, so I let him. Poor Neurotic Roger, the slobbiness was probably driving him crazy. Oddly enough, the last time I had a Slob, her sister was Neat, so it was basically the same thing. It's like my Simming is going through cycles. Kind of creepy.

Any Simmer would be able to figure out that Mia was snuggling with Zara, but I suppose the average reader (assuming non-Simmers are even reading these, which is doubtful) would be confused. Why is she hugging a pink burrito thing to her chest? Who knows.

Why Roger is sitting in those ugly plastic chairs instead of that nice, comfortable sofa to watch TV, I have no idea. Crazy from my Dynasty does this all the time, but I just figured it was a result of his Insanity. Now Roger's doing it too! Sometimes, I wonder what's going on in my Sims' heads.

This would've been the screenshot where I would be saying stuff like, "And now Roger and Mia have embraced in their undying love, ready to bring their beautiful heir into the house." Unfortunately, I can't, because Roger and Mia won't WooHoo. The option doesn't show up or anything. My theory is that since they still have the Had a Girl moodlet, it won't let them WooHoo. At least, I hope so.

So does Roger. I'm not sure if he's freaking out because of the broken toilet, because he can't bring the heir into the world, his Neurotic trait was acting up again, a combination of the above, or maybe he's just raging against the heavens. Which I guess would be me.
