My money tree vanished and...

left $10,000 in bills on the ground.  My family has the 'no bills ever' reward.  Is that supposed to happen?  It's a first for me.  All my families have money trees and I've never had one die or vanish let alone leave bills.  I went back to the main menu thinking if I got to the mailbox I could pay the bills before the tree vanished but when I went back in, there were no interactions with the mailbox.  The tree just disintegrated.  Is this something new?

thanks.  this was a very young tree.  I have many much much older ones and have never seen this before.  It was a "Whoaaa, what was that" moment.  Freaked me out.

If you have Seasons, you need to be sure to keep watering in the winter or the plants will die.  Not sure if that was the case here, though.

No, I don't have seasons, but I have the sims tend to the garden every morning faithfully.  But I'll remember that if I get it.  I thought they never died

Did you have a fairy bloom the tree? I've had some issues with money trees, and one died, and that's the only thing new that I've done. I don't have Seasons, either.

No, I don't have supernatural either.  The games been untouched for a long time.  Nothing new except update patches.  Sometimes I think they do things.

Was that in a patch within the last year or so?  I've had money trees die, but they didn't leave bills behind.

It has always cost a lot of money when a money tree dies.  I don't know if they literally leave bills on the ground, but they take away from family funds if you don't properly take care of them.

All I know for sure is that Money Trees live for ages - I've got dead plants from early days in my game, and I'm on W12, D7 with them still alive.

This tree left the bills on the ground, about 5 or 6 of them. Totaling close to $10,000.  I had the option to pick them up or paying bills on the mailbox.  I used the mailbox.
