Crash when saving

Just in the last day or so, my game has been crashing whenever I go to save it (and does not save). The Crash Log Analyzer said the problem (the last 4 times in the last day or so) is "Warning: Updates Available - The Sims 3 World Adventures(2.0.86.002002 -> 2.17.2.011032), The Sims High-End Loft Stuff ..."

When I go to the launcher, I can't find an update to download. So I am confused about what I can do now - I have already tried clearing DCbackup, and updating my Mods (NRAAS ErrorTrap, MasterController & cheats, Overwatch).

1) Were you building any time prior to saving?

Possibly, there's a bug going around recently that causes you to crash while saving after building. It doesn't always strike, I've had it strike once when building a third floor nursery in my Dynasty, but never on the second or first floors.

What about your other game versions, specifically, WA through OLS?

Ok well, I compared WA and HELS with that site you mentioned, and I am thinking maybe I am behind on patches? Here's what I found:

WA (my game): 2.0.86.002002

HELS (my game): 3.0.38.004001

...does that mean my versions are out of date? If so, where can I find the individual patches to download (I must admit I find that link a little confusing, and it seems to be a bit out of date since it only goes up to 2011...)

You are a few patches behind.

EA used to patch EP's and SP's but discontinued that practice after OLS was released. While there aren't very many repercussions if you choose not to patch these games, you can as it may fix some bugs. You can download the patches from MTS, I linked to the page where they are located.

Be sure to download the patch correct for your region! I'm not entirely sure of the numbers off the top of my head, but I can tell you that the last digit of your base game patch will tell you your region. I think you'll probably be Region 2 (Worldwide) or 7 (Digital Download) - if I remember the numbers right.

Ok I added what patches I could from the link you gave me, but I could only install the WA patch, because I am region 2 and the patches for the others aren't available for region 2 (I tried region 7 but it didn't work). So now I will try to load sims again and see what happens...

It crashed.

Now the log says "Updates Available - The Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff...."

So, looks like it recognises that I updated WA, but it wants me to update the rest too, even though I am unable to because I'm from region 2 and there were no downloads available for regions 2, 3 or 5. So now I am confused as to what to do next. Should I try the region 1 patches? Or can I get some for region 2 from somewhere else?

Since I recently reinstalled everything, I have also been having a lot of problems with crashes, though not necessarily on saves.

I found a Patch Downloader via the Crash Log Analyzer that might help you with the patching, although I don't know how it deals with regional variations.

I spent quite a bit of time chasing a lot of suggested fixes, including DEP.

What has ultimately helped me in reducing the crashes is to avoid starting the game via the launcher.  I run the launcher to see if it lists any new patches, but then close it and run the game directly by right-clicking on Game\Bin\TS3W.exe and then selecting "run as administrator"  I already had that executable configured to run as administrator, so maybe the real difference is that I'm not using the launcher to start up the game....

I had the same problem... does it just shut down? Because if so, it could be that your computer is overheating. So just lift the back of your Pc/mac or whatever two inches off the surface, that should reduce the crashing.

I will have a look at that patch downloader you mentioned Sarabi.

Seraphina - I have a device that blows cool air at my computer. That, coupled with the fact that it is crashing when I've just started the game (before it gets too hot) means I don't think overheating is the problem.

Not really. But I doubt it's overheating. I don't know about your computers, but mine shuts down when it overheats and when it reboots - Sims is still going (though it's so slow, I often forcequit at this point).

Ok so I downloaded that Patch Downloader, and it updated all my patches. Then I loaded game again, but it froze when saving (after building) again. Now the Crash Log Analyzer has a new reason for the crashes: "Unknown - Export or copy and paste for details or click on the button below for self-help."

Below I will paste what the details are for it - I have no idea how to read it so I'm hoping someone can decifer it for me (I have no idea what to do now).
