Yay supermax!  Franklin's zipping right along towards immortality.  Her degree is definitely going to help her make the big bucks too (does she have to quit and rejoin the medicine career for it to take effect?  I can't remember how that works).

Ah! Such are the limits of household size! Paving the streets of success with much sadness.  :(

I know. Another sobering thought is that eventually I'll have to give some of the dogs up for adoption for household size reasons. :(

Yay supermax!  Franklin's zipping right along towards immortality.  Her degree is definitely going to help her make the big bucks too (does she have to quit and rejoin the medicine career for it to take effect?  I can't remember how that works).

It doesn't seem to have had much effect on her current medical career. Either way, she's at level 8 by now, so it's not worth her quitting and restarting the career for the degree benefits. It gave her time to finish her supermax well in advance though, allowing me to focus more on Pasteur's requirements. Yay for university!

Chapter 18: In which the author tries to look on the bright side of life

First order of the day: Darwin's beard!
Darwin: Much better!

Pasteur: Papie, why has the teacher circled my entire paragraph with red?
Darwin: It's in french, Pasta.
Pasteur: Ah, sorry! I keep using it occasionally. But simlish doesn't do this paragraph of the story justice really.

Wilkins died a few days into Pasteur's childhood, first thing in the morning.

His wife Swan followed that evening. . .

. . . which was around the time Vin had her elder birthday scheduled.

In case you missed it, here it is- Grim stuck around to celebrate Vin's birthday!

In an attempt to lift the household's sorrow after the death of two dogs in one day, a new one was adopted. Meet Comet- he'll eventually have a puppy or two with Trinity, when we have the household space.

All together now- Awwwww!

So eventually, it was time for Pasteur to sneeze at his next birthday cake.

Pasteur: Papa, please stop giggling at how badly I broke the rules of culinary hygiene.

Pasteur: Watcher, mirror. Now. S'il vous plait?
Betabee: OK.

I think he's starting to look remarkably like his papie, though with Billy's eyes and no hair loss.

Betabee: What do you think?
Pasteur: Perfect. Now what?

Betabee: You'll be making pancakes and sushi until your eyes water.
Pasteur: How fast?
Betabee: I'll buy you a pizza oven if you supermax cooking before you grow up.
Pasteur: A pizza oven? I'll get started now.

Betabee: Well, get the museum pieces done first, Pasteur.
Pasteur: Ok. By the way, why sushi?
Betabee: Otherwise all those fish your mother caught will have to go to waste.
Pasteur: Ah. It all makes sense now.

Trinity aged up a day or two later.

She looks like her father Meister with Wilkins' colouring.

Betabee:Pasteur is making a minnow roll sushi with spring onions and a soy and pineapple jus.
Pasteur: Que?
Betabee:*cough* Sorry, it seems I went into masterchef narrator mode. Carry on.
Pasteur: Okay.

Since spring has arrived, it is time for Darwin and Jo's second wedding anniversary. Jo is, on this day, 89 days old.

Darwin: I'm going to miss you so much.
Jo: I know. I hope you can keep yourself busy for the time i'm away- it'll stop you missing me as much.

Jo: I so hope Frankie and Pasta can stop my love being too sad. I don't want to have to leave.

Jo: Darwin? Are you crying?
Darwin: No, dear- I've got something in my eye. And I might have put too much pepper on this . . .

Awww, sadness! Well, death is a part of dynasties. Sad but true. I don't have enough clues yet but I am on the search! Does that make sense? No? Well, never mind.

It makes sense. I will try and obtain more clues for you, I have some fun ones lined up! I'll have to wait for household space though :(

I haven't commented in a while, but hurray on Darwin getting a proper beard! And out of all the silly things that Grim can do, I don't think I've seen him stick around for birthdays.

The only way I got that to happen was sheer dumb luck. Swan happened to die only a few minutes before Vin's birthday was due, so Grim hadn't left before Vin got the sparkles.

Chapter 19: In which we introduce Jill Gibbs

This lady here is Jill Gibbs, also known as possible-mother-of-forth-generation, but that's quite long, so from henceforth she shall be known as Jill.

Pasteur: So Jill, tell me about yourself.

Jill: Firstly, I'm not a homeless NPC, and I don't have a buggy job. I'm the human daughter of a werewolf and a witch, with two brothers in the same situation. Due to my unwatched status, I have mental issues.

Pasteur: You could move in with my family if you like. We're a watched dynasty household.
Jill: That sounds good- you coulld even help deal with my absen . . . Sorry, was I saying something?

Pasteur: It really seems like you need a SWAP treatment.
Jill: I know. Sometimes all the madness drowns out my own sense. But my family can't afford SWAP at the moment, being townies.
Pasteur: My watcher could help.
Jill: If I can move in as soon as I grow up, I'd be grateful. My father's threatening to make me join his pack.

Pasteur: There's one other thing. You'd have to be my wife and bear an heir for me if you move in.
Jill: I'd like that. You're cute, you're kind, and I'm far less likely to be turned into a werewolf or something if I'm with you. Deal.

Pasteur: So, will you go with me to the spring festival tomorrow? And to prom later this week?
Jill: Sounds lovely!
Pasteur: Great! Thanks! You're such a good friend.

Pasteur's teen pieces were completed while he was busy with his new (girl)friend . . .

Pasteur: Flowers to match your hair?
Jill: Sunflowers! So bright for the morning!
Pasteur: I'm not sure they're sunflowers . . .
Jill: What's not sunflowers?

The two had a great time on their date at the spring festival. They tried out the love tester . . .

. . . which went successfully, don't you think?

Their relationship progressed quickly . . .

 . . .first kiss. . .

. . .and making their boyfriend/girlfriend status official.

But all too soon it was time for Jill to go home before she was missed.

Jo: So, have you found anyone to take to school prom yet, fusilli?

Pasteur: Yeah! She's wonderful, Mamie! She's kind, and determined, and brave. She's fine with the whole dynasty thing too, though I'm not sure how much she knows about it. Maybe Dad can help out with it. And you, of course.
Jo: She sounds lovely, dear. I hope I get to meet her.

Pasteur: A brolly? In the car?
Jill: It's raining, and the roof's leaking.
Pasteur: No it isn't.
Jill: From your watcher's perspective, it is.

Of course, I was concentrating so much on Pasteur and his prom night that I completely forgot that it was Franklin's adult birthday.

Franklin: Billy, stop laughing now or you'll be exiled to the doghouse for a week.
Billy: Ok. Sorry.

Betabee: Better?
Franklin: Better. I'm off back to bed.

Betabee: Pasteur's had a brilliant night at prom. He was crowned prom king, and spent the entire evening with Jill.

And, despite all that, Pasteur finished his 75th dish with a week to spare before his next birthday. Woot!

Apologies for the double post, but i'm currently much further ahead in game than I am on here. Thus it must be time to post another chapter!

Chapter 20- in which we are reunited with some old friends

So now begins the wait for Pasteur to grow up so he can do more interesting things. There were a few birthdays, such as comet's adult birthday . . .

He's quite a small dog, but has a very similar colouring to Trinity.

. . . and Meister's elder birthday.
Meister: Well, there's nothing wrong with grey! My wife's grey all over!

Soon enough, news came that everyone in the house had been waiting for.

Jo: You must be Jill then.
Jill: That's right. I came over as soon as I could. My birthday was yesterday.
Jo: Good! My name's Jo, I'm Pasteur's grandmother.
Jill: Ah, I've heard about you from Pasteur. He loves you very much.
Jo: He loves you very much too. If you hurt his feelings, I will haunt you for the rest of your days. Understand?
Jill: Yes.

Jo: Glad that's settled. Now, have a friendship elixir!
Jill: Thanks, I think.

Jo: Are you absolutely sure you want to move in?
Jill: Indeed. I've wanted to break free from unwatched status for weeks now!
Betabee: Cool. Welcome to the Science Lab!
Jill: You're not a voice caused by madness, are you?
Betabee: No, I'm your new watcher. Step inside! The dresser is up the stairs, turn left and left again.
Jill: Yay!  runs inside in excitement

Jill: Ah, crazy dreads!
Betabee: And next, the wardrobe.

Betabee: I hope that's good enough for you.
Jill: It's perfect.
Betabee: So, how will you spend your time?
Jill: I'd like to be a blog arist.
Betabee: Cool. And you can learn other skills on the side at your leisure. ok?

Jo: It's so nice to have lived long enough to meet you!
Jill: Likewise. I wonder, are there any other dynasty spouses or helpers still around?
Jo: Well, I'd ask Billy. he meets with the gang every few months.

Pasteur: Wow!. . . You look lovely, Jill.
Jill: Wishing you could grow up faster yet?
Pasteur: From the moment I walked in the room.Sigh. I'd better go get on with my homework.

Billy agreed to take Jill along to a dynasty helper support group meeting when she asked about it.

Billy: Here we are, Jill- Bridgeport cemetery. Shall I introduce you to everyone?

Billy: Jon! What a lovely surprise! I didn't see you on the train . . .
Jon: There's faster methods if you're incorporeal, Bill. How are you? How's Frankie?
Billy: Frankie and I are fine, thankyou. She's very near to the top of her career. And we have a teenage son, Pasteur. This is his future wife, Jill.
Jill: Hi.
Jon: Hello, Jill. You're marrying my great-grandson, then? I'll have to try sending another wedding gift.
Billy: That reminds me, thankyou for the gift! It meant so much to Frankie and I.
Jon: Well, a grandpa's got to try his best. Why don't you introduce Jill to the others?
Billy: Sure.

Billy: This is Agnes, she's been dead a while. . .

. . . here's Matt, he's also been dead a while, but he's hosting this week's event, hence the cemetery. . .

 . . . there's Cassidy- she died a few weeks in from a sculpting accident . . .

. . . and here's Goopy. He's not got long left. I think that's everyone today. Where's Chris?
Agnes: On vacation in Lucky Palms.
Billy: And the rest?
Cassidy: Supernatural convention in Starlight shores. No ghost's allowed.
Goopy: I would have gone too, but my arthritis is playing up. The train was bad enough, I don't think my joints would let me go to a convention.
Matt: Well, go when you're ready, Goopy. We understand.

Jill: So, what's it like being a dynasty helper?
Jon: It's not nice at the beginning, when you need to skill up fast to get museum pieces or ambrosia. It's pretty good once they have artists in the family though.
Jill: I'll try not to be an original townie then!
Jon: That's the spirit.
Jill: It's so weird meeting my great-grandfather-in-law.
Jon: You'll come across odder situations over time, dear. I'll be meeting my great-great-great-great-great grandchild at the end of the dynasty- isn't that strange?

Goopy: . . . and you'll find the time there much easier if you put your own mark on the house you're staying in. Maybe help redecorating or something . . .
Jill: That's a good idea. I'll talk to Pasteur about it. They've got a dizzying amount of green in the house at the moment . . .

Jill:. . . so we'll be getting married pretty soon after Pasteur grows up.
Matt: I'll have to see if I can make it to the wedding- I'm pretty busy these days.
Jill: What, despite being dead?
Matt: Well, I volunteer. There's always somewhere in need of a haunting- we'e got to keep the ghostbusters in the money.

in the background
Jon: Ghastliness becomes you, my dear.
Agnes: I've always thought so- the goth look translates very well upon death.
Jon: I wonder- would you fancy going to see a movie together sometime?

Matt: It's all about spending your time doing what you love. For me, it's acting, which translates very nicely to haunting. What about you?
Cassidy: I'd eat cookies if I could eat.
Matt: Well, you might someday if you work on being substantial.
Goopy: You're making me hungry with all this talk of cookies.
Jill: I know the feeling- I must ask if Pasteur knows any good recipes. hmm. . .

Agnes: Well, the ambrosia recipe isn't that difficult- I've made it plenty of times. You could suggest to Pasteur to try adding a few herbs such as thyme or sage to help counteract the sourness of the deathfish, though the life fruit does most of the work.

Billy: Gosh! Look at the time! Jill, we must go, otherwise we'll miss the train home!
Jill: Ok. It was lovely to meet you all. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us and for the advice.
Agnes: You're welcome, dear. Feel free to come along to other meetings- I'll email you the schedule.
Jill: Thankyou! Must dash. Bye!
Jon: Take care!
Matt: Farewell!

I love the dynasty helper meetings. How sad and funny that so many died. Realistic though. What sort of supernatural is Chris then?

I'm glad you're enjoying it! The dog line will continue as long as I have space in the household- I might even go on to using clone vouchers to keep the line intact. It saddens me that I'll have to start giving some up for adoption soon, otherwise there may be even more household space issues . . .

This . . . was an incredibly difficult chapter to write. Mainly because this is

Chapter 21: In which we lose the first dynasty spouse

But first, Franklin has reached the top of her career! Her only tasks left are to throw some best friend potions at people and wait until she's old enough for her next batch of portraits.
Franklin: It feels a bit . . . anticlimatic?
Betabee: Well, we've got to do this another 6 times to succeed, so yep.
Franklin: I won't retire, because it'd be nice to keep busy.

In other news, Jill has been added to the mortal wall in Darwin's nursery;

Pasteur has brought up his building and property, upgrading port-a-party mini warehouse with these two fetching weeping angels statues;

And Jill has helped Pasteur to finish learning to drive.
But you won't remember any of these events, becuase of what happened next . . .

This is the look of a woman who knows what is happening and is really not happy about it.

Darwin: It's only two days until Pasteur's birthday. Don't you think it could have waited, dear?

Jo: Darling, I'm 100 today. It's as good a day as any. Besides. Pasteur and Jill can't have a child until me or Billy are gone.
Pasteur: I'll miss you so much mamie.
Jo: Jill, look after them all for me?
Jill: 'kay. It was good to meet you.
Grim: Ready to go?
Jo: As I'll ever be. How's Jon?
Grim: Waiting the other side.
Jo: I'd better go say hello then . . .

Comet: Where are you off to?
Darwin: To say goodbye. I'll be back soon.

The lonely man travels far . . .

. . .over bridges and far away . . .

. . .past many home and many hills . . .

. . .and only stops at the end of day.

He takes his time to rest and mourn . . .

. . . remembers her for who she was back then . . .

. . . remembers all she gave his life . . .

. . . and so returns back home again.

Another chapter already you lucky lucky people. Read on . . .

Chapter 22: In which so much happens it's hard to summarise it in a single chapter title

After Jo's death, Darwin moved back into his own room. A new nursery will be created with the arrival of the next generation (which should be in a couple of chapter's time!).

Mercifully, the next couple of days were quite quiet. Thus we arrive at Pasteur's young adult birthday incident-free.

Pasteur: The hair could be better.
Betabee: Well, at least you can become a professional cook now.
Pasteur: Yep.

Darwin: So how's the supermax coming?
Pasteur: I've finished the skill challenges- I just need to max it now.
Franklin: Didn't you have time to max it as a teen?
Betabee: This way we might be able to trigger a few blackops before he maxes it.

Betabee: I think this young frenchman could charm many ladies if he wasn't already spoken for.
Jill: I'm happy with him just charming this one.

Pasteur: Are you done now? I've got an important discussion to be having with Jill.
Betabee: Indeed. off you go.

For time's sake, we'll pretend that the first two failed attempts at proposing marriage (probably due to Jill's insane trait) didn't happen. Third time lucky right?

Pasteur: What do you say to getting married in a day or two?
Jill: That's fine. There's no rush, right?

Betabee: Wrong.
(Seriously, this happened moments after Pasteur and Jill got engaged. Talk about bad timing . . .)

Billy: But they just got engaged?!
Grim: Sorry, mate. I can't let you off. You're 97.
Billy: You let Jo get to 100.
Grim: She's still technically younger than you. Don't think we don't know about your fairy stint.
Billy: It's a fair cop. watcher, don't lament me for a whole chapter like you did for Jo. Get on with it. For the readers.
Betabee: OK. Laters.
Billy: Laters.

After all that, I decided to redecorate. We're three generations in, we've had the same decor for twenty-odd chapters. Therefore, there's a new theme to the main areas of the house- 'the universe'. I'm featuring purple (courtesy of Jill) and cosmic latte (the average colour of the universe) as the two main colours this time.
So, on with the tour! Here's the living room . . .

. . . the kitchen, complete with pizza oven . . .

 . . .the plant nursery . . .

. . . the bathroom (all the others are carbon copies of this one) . . .

. . . and the skilling room. Since Darwin has the skills to do all the museum pieces, I removed some of the easels to make room for the science station. As scientists, they should be able to do science freely, right?

Lastly, I spent a little time putting in some lavender plants for Pasteur and Jill's wedding.
Thoughts and comments on the new renovation are entirely welcome!

Betabee: Well?
Pasteur: Well what?
Betabee: Enjoying the new pizza oven?
Pasteur: Very much.

Since we now have 2 spaces in the house, the next generation is on its way now so it arrives before generation 4 does.

So, once everyone had recovered from Billy's death, a wedding party was arranged.
Betabee: Do you, Louis Pasteur Scientia, take this woman to be your wife?
Pasteur: I do.

Betabee: Do you, Jillian Hortensia Gibbs, take this man to be your husband?
Jill: I do.

Betabee: Then I pronounce you Dynasty heir and Dynasty spouse. You may kiss the bride.

Jill: What now?
Pasteur: Cake of course.
Jill: Ah, food. I should have known when I married a cook I'd be well fed.
Betabee: Plus I have a wedding present- a SWAP treatment!
I did remove Jill's insanity and absent-mindedness, though I can't remember what I replaced them with. I will check next time I'm in-game and edit this with the details.

Jill: Ah, purple flowers!
Betabee: I'm glad you like it.
Pasteur: So, how many slices do I need to cut?

Jill: There's a load of people around the front too.
Pasteur: Never mind. Help yourself everyone. We've got better things to do . . .

Pasteur: . . . such as getting the next generation on the way.

Your clues so far for generation 4 are Comet and Trinity. Another clue will be provided next time, so stay tuned!

Chapter 23: In which the readers are given the first clue to generation 5 (I know! So soon!)

Pasteur: It's so sweet that mamie sent a wedding present.
Jill: I wonder how she sent it?

Pasteur: Maybe the same way Billy sent his?
Jill: He sent a DJ booth? How did it fit in the postbox?
Pasteur: Yes, that's a very good question. Watcher, how do we have a postbox that's bigger on the inside?
Betabee: Same place I got the TARDIS LLAMA from.

Pasteur: Yes, I'd love to go to france to solve a brainteaser for you. Can you do me a favour, though- can you ask around, see if anyone wants any cooking opps done? Please?

I can't find any screenshots from his very brief trip to france, but I can show you a pic from his brief trip to Egypt for his second opp.

In other news, Franklin made the trip to place Billy's grave, but without the epic montage that Darwin had a chapter or two back.

And here are pictures for Pasteur's young adult and Franklin's adult pieces. (I can't remember if I've already posted a picture of Frankie's adult pieces. If so, I apologise).

And the last clue for generation four has arrived!

Franklin: Isn't he cute! What's he called?
Jill: Fish.
Darwin: What?! Are you sure the SWAP treatment worked?
Jill: Yeah. I used to have a rabbit called Fish. Dad ate it. I've always wanted another Fish.
Betabee: It's fine. It's a clue.
Jill: Yay!

Betabee: Well, there goes my carefully planned maternity wear.
Jill: It doesn't matter so much. It's a pretty good combo for a non-watched outfit.

Jill: What are you reading?
Pasteur: Ambrosia for Dummies. You?
Jill: A discussion on forum browsing for the metagaming sim.
Betabee: Oi, give that book back!
Jill: Relax. You took away the computer, remember? I can't browse the forums.
Betabee: You've still got a smartphone.
Jill: Drat. I guess I'll have to stick to sim dimension social networking then.

Betabee: Meister?
Meister: I'm off now.
Betabee: But Vin's older than you by quite a way . . .
Meister: What does that have to do with anything? I'm sure we'll be reunited soon enough.

Due to a boring pregnancy, we skip immediately to the birth of generation 4.
Pasteur: Mum! Help!
Franklin: Jill, go into another room. It's much easier to have a home birth without your husband yelling the house down.
Jill: Okay.

Jill: Hello little man!

??: Wotcha.
Betabee: Wotcha yourself.
??: What now?

Betabee: I build a nursery for you.
??: I like it.
Betabee: Good, because it's sticking around until generation 6 at least.

Jill: ?? is suprisingly talkative for a boy his age.
Betabee: It's Watcher facilitated for comic effect. He'll still need to learn to learn to talk properly.

??: Who's this?
Betabee: A clue to the next generation.
??: You mean generation 5? I've only just been born.
Betabee: Well, since Meister died we have some house space. Meet Pi, first clue to generation 5.

Franklin: This formula should help you grow up healthy.
??: But it's disgusting.
Franklin: What do you expect? I'm a doctor, not a culinary genius like your father.

??: So what do I call you? Great-grandpa seems quite a mouthful.
Darwin: Darwin will do. It's strange talking to you already.
??: Just a part of my uniqueness.
