Congratulations on Darwin's immortality! I like his Elder look. Very becoming. By the way, when you get University you will have a very big beard, so no need to buy one from the Store anyway.

Huzzah for the first immortal!  That's always an exciting milestone to reach.   :)

If you do get University make sure to back up the game file (and then maybe back that up again).  It's an interesting expansion that adds quite a bit, but it certainly seems to have a lot of icky bugs hiding underneath it!

Betabee: Hear that Darwin?
Darwin: Loud and clear! When are you getting university?
Betabee: Give it a month or so.
Darwin: I can wait. It isn't so long.

Thanks for the advice- I think I'm being quite careful to keep several previous save files of the Scientias, but I'll make sure to do a backup before installing university.

Onto the next chapter!

Chapter 12: In which the Watcher recieves a pleasant surprise

If you've been paying attention to the immortal dynasty thread on the challenge board, you will see I have had some problems with a buggy housemate. What happened was, I tried to move in Horace Wofford from chapter 10 (who had aged up to a young adult at a snowflake day party I threw) but Horace's motives were stuck. So I had to move back to an earlier save file, conveniently saved at the end of events in chapter 11. I still have enough material from the buggy save for an alternate chapter 12, but that's an alternate reality. Here's what happened in the real chapter 12. . .

Frankin's teen birthday occured a few hours after Darwin ate his ambrosia.
Franklin: I wish for. . . a non-buggy future boyfriend!
Betabee: Wish granted. I hope.

Franklin: How bad is my hair?
Betabee: Well. . .
Franklin: On second thoughts, don't tell me. Let's just go and fix it.

She looks more like Jo than Darwin. They certainly share the chin. The origin of her lips and eye colour remains a mystery though.

This is the formalwear she aged up in- and probably what Darwin would prefer her to go to prom in.
Jo: Only because his protective father instincts are kicking in.
Franklin: And that's why he's not helping with the makeover...

Franklin: You do know I won't use half these outfits?
Betabee: Athletic and swimwear won't be, certainly.
Franklin: And I don't need outerwear since you got me immunity to cold. Why did you bother?
Betabee: For the sake of completeness I think.
Jo: So what next? Another gift party?
Betabee: NO! I don't want a repeat of the alternate chapter 12!
Franklin: Why?
Betabee: Horace ages up, Maximus McDermott dies of thirst mid party, we move Horace in but he turns out to be mean spirited and unable to feel anything.
Jo: Sounds pretty bad. Quiet night in anyone?
Franklin: Aww. I was looking forward to a party.
Betabee: I'll get you a christmas tree to make up for it?

Franklin: Thanks Watcher! What next?

Betabee: Fishing, obviously.
Franklin: What about museum pieces?
Betabee: We have two weeks. Don't worry too much.

Don't worry. It's not how it looks. This is just a random paparazzi with Jo's hairstyle.

Franklin: Dad, what do you think of me becoming a world reknowned surgeon? I can help people live much healthier lives, unlike how that paparazzi probably lived.
Darwin: Sounds good! You'll have to focus on fishing more for now though.
Franklin: I understand. I might learn some logic in spare moments in the meanwhile.

Betabee: Is this necessarily the best time to teach your daughter to drive? At night in the snow?
Darwin: If she can drive safely in the worst conditions, she can drive safely in the best conditions.

Betabee: My current question is, do you intend to keep that eyebrow raised for the entire scupting session?
Franklin: If possible. Now, please don't distract mum while she's sculpting.

Franklin's teen museum pieces were assembled in a couple of days.

Franklin: Well, I've managed to create a substance that makes its container invisible to the naked eye. The only problem is, i haven't written down the recipe.
Betabee: By learning logic, you are learning to think logically. A logical step in creating potions would be to learn to write down your experiments as you go.
Franklin: You could have told me that five minutes ago. . .
Betabee: But you wouldn't have understood the reason why nearly as well as you do now!

For convenience I have started adding LLAMAs to locations around Riverview that the Scientias own. As a Whovian I had to make the one in the science lab itself blue.

And now for the pleasant surprise!
Having not seen Billy Caspian around town for a while and finding a different family residing in his original home, I assumed that he'd left town altogether. So I was very happy today when Jo visited the alchemy store to purchase ingredients and I saw him there!

Jo: Hello Billy! Long time no see! Have a potent friendship and potent cure elixir!
Billy: What. . .?

Jo: Please move in!
Billy: Jo's watcher, give me a good reason why I should move in and become a founding dynasty helper again.
Betabee: You won't be. You'll be the husband of generation 2, the founder's learning the museum skills so you don't have to. You won't have to learn any skills you don't want to, I won't let you touch the coffee machine. The majority of your wishes will be fulfilled. It'll be a lot more relaxed. Plus you aren't a fairy anymore so your life will be shorter and boring if you don't move in. Please?
Billy: Well. . . That sounds a lot better than the offers I get from dynasty households normally. I'm in.

Billy: So, is this another change-my-entire-wardrobe job?
Betabee: Nope. I can't be bothered. Just have contact lenses and a cooler haircut.
Billy: Why thankyou!

Darwin: What's the green flash for?
Betabee: A present from Jo. Should make immortality a bit less dull.

Darwin: Magic?!
Betabee: As Arthur C. Clarke said, 'Any science sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from magic'.

I love the Clarke quote at the end. Brilliant. And I'm glad Billy moved in. Better than buggy NPCs. They are nothing but trouble.

No Riverview dynasty can resist Billy. Franklin turned out to be gorgeous too.

I really wanted to move Billy in at some point ever since I saw him as a fairy at Jo's graduation, especially since he's got good genetics. He's been much better behaved bugs-wise that Horace ever was.

Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting. I should be a bit more regular with the chapters over the next few weeks since the worst of my exams are out of the way (the last one is next Wednesday).

Chapter 13: In which a few semi-important discussions occur

Franklin:So you're my future husband?
Billy: Probably. Are you OK with that?

Franklin: I'll have a think about it. I mean, it does save time so I can focus more on my immortality tasks, but I can't help feeling it's all a bit. . . going too fast.
Betabee: Well, if you find someone at university you could always marry them.
Franklin: True. But it's not all about my feelings. Are you OK with becoming a dynasty spouse again, Billy? It's not like my mother gave you much choice.
Jo: Sitting right here, dear.
Franklin: No offence meant, mum.

Billy: I'm far past being fazed with being conscripted into dynasty households. Even if I went out to lunar lakes and beyond, I would still attract attention because of my artistic tendancies.
Franklin: I guess.
Jo: Frankie, please don't worry about it too much yet. You might meet someone nice at prom.

Later
Franklin: Billy, can I ask you a question?
Billy: Yes.
Franklin: What was it like being a fairy?
Billy: Not always as fun as it seems.

Franklin:Please elaborate.
Billy:Having hot pink wings isn't that cool. They get in the way quite often. And a longer life makes the more trivial and normal parts of life seem boring and routine.
Franklin:I kind of get what you're saying. Sometimes when I think that I'm going to live forever, it seems like a void stretching into infinity.

Billy: I found from my visit to moonlight falls that eternity is easier to cope with when you have company.
Franklin: Maybe that's why we have 8 generations in an immortal dynasty- so that the house is full of life.
Billy: That's an interesting theory. Would you promise me one thing?
Franklin: As long as you promise me one thing in return.
Billy: I'd like to meet your/our descendants once your immortal dynasty is complete.
Franklin: I'd like us to be friends, even if I choose someone else to father generation three.
Billy: Deal.
Franklin: Deal.

Franklin: Is that my mum over there?
Billy: I think so.
Franklin: And she's in her sleepwear. Time to go in I think.
Billy: Agreed. It's weird seeing your possible future mother-in-law in her sleepwear.

Wilkins: And so we see the Darwin creating an impression on the ice depicting the kind of beard he'd like to have.
Darwin: Wilkins, what did I say about the documentries?
Wilkins: I was doing it in memory of my father. Don't worry, I'll move onto doing ones about Franklin soon.

Billy's adult birthday occured a day after he moved in.

It was quite unspectacular. As most adult birthdays are.

Betabee: Here's your birthday present, Billy.
Billy: And it's in my favourite colour! Thanks!

Wilkins: And so the Darwin, the Franklin and Billy stand around after the ceremony of the Cake, which uselessly disrupts all activities of people within the confines of the house until the sweet confection is removed by the Watcher.
Franklin: Wilkins, haven't you got better things to do?
Wilkins: Not really, no.

It's the 'guess where I put that TARDIS LLAMA' time! Here's spot 1. . .

And here's spot two! Successful guessers get a dose of smugness about their knowledge of Riverview. Tune in another time for more TARDIS LLAMA placement puzzles!

The next day or two was pretty boring. Billy painted for enjoyment . . .

Franklin got tutored (and learnt logic quite fast at the same time, I wasn't aware of this before but being tutored increases your logic skill if you have a point already).

Eventually saturday arrived (at the end of week 7 ingame), and with it came Franklin's prom.

Betabee: So how was it?
Franklin: Well, a bit mixed. I got into a fight, I got rejected for a dance, I became prom queen and got a romantic interest called Venkat. Hadn't met him before.
Betabee: Well, you could invite him over tomorrow, we could see what sort of person he is.
Franklin: Seems reasonable.

Franklin: I have a question: Why do the soot marks stop before they reach my ears?
Betabee: I'm unsure. Ask the programmers.

Betabee: Billy, step away from the sculpting station! I need it free for Darwin so he can ice-sculpt.
Billy: Sorry- old habit. It's strange not having to sculpt.

Betabee: Who's this?
Franklin: This is Venkat. He's got a bit of a temper.
Venkat: Why didn't you say you were in a dynasty and had a Watcher? I don't want to paint and sculpt and jump through hoops for the rest of my life!
Franklin: Uh, it's not like we talked for that long. We've only been an item since last night.
Venkat: You're so unreasonable.
Franklin: I think we should just call this whole relationship off.
Venkat: What?!
Betabee: That's right. Shoo. If you can't cope with a Watcher you've no business anywhere near Franklin. Now go before I call her father.
Venkat: Fine. See you never.

Franklin: What are you doing?
Mailwoman: Practicing my dance moves for 'simnation's got talent'! Woot!

Franklin: It seems Helix doesn't appreciate your 'dance moves'. . .
Mailwoman: AAAAhhhhhhhh . . .

Chapter 14: In which births, deaths and marriages occur

The third generation of dogs was finally conceived when I noticed that Watson was near elder-hood. If I can, I will keep the descendants of Watson in the family until the end- it will be interesting to see how they change down the generations.

Most of the family are now celebrities, so I started re-modelling the yard by adding a fence. Though since this picture I have added some beehives behind the orchard. I'm leaving it mostly empty for now and will fill up space as it's needed.

Wilkins aged up to elder while Swan was pregnant with the next generation.
Wilkins: Luckily I ate the 'after' photo!
Betabee: How can you eat watcher photos from in-game?
Wilkins: Simple. I got dad to do it for me.

May I introduce to you Meister!
Meister: Are you going to give the forum any other clues to generation three?

Betabee: Of course. Meet Vin; she's probably going to be mother to the fourth generation of dogs.

A day or two after that, Helix died.
Betabee: Say hi to Watson for us.
Helix: Sure. As long as you take care of my grand-puppy.

Wilkins: Grim, that's quite a girly umbrella you've got.
Grim: That's because I am a girl.
Wilkins: What?!
Grim: Don't sound so surprised. We live in an age where girls can be doctors, lawyers, astronauts. So why not grim reapers?

Billy: It's so nice to complete my lifetime wish in a relaxed setting for once.
Betabee: Glad to hear it. Who are you painting?
Billy: That girl with the lava-lamp dress who was on Eurovision.

You may ask, why haven't I shown you what Franklin and her parents are up to? Truth is, their activities aren't screenshot worthy for week 8. Jo's watching TV, Darwin is sculpting, and Franklin is fishing away her teenage years- when she's not catching butterflies I spotted in the yard.

And so without further ado, we skip forward to when Meister ages up.

He seems to resemble his mother mostly, especially in size. However, his coat colour seems to be a lighter version of his father's.

Franklin's birthday is the next interesting event.
Franklin: I wish for . . . another 250-ish fish so my supermax is completed.
Betabee: Wish granted. They're in the pond out the back- you'll have to catch them yourself.

Franklin: Billy, please don't laugh at the hideous outfit I got from aging up.
Billy: Sorry. I think it's my inappropriate trait kicking in.
Betabee: Shall we go fix it?
Franklin: Once I've had some cake.

Darwin: So many outfits . . .
Franklin: Of course. You're only young adult once.

Darwin: Are so many outfits really necessary?
Betabee, Jo and Franklin: Yes.

Franklin: What now? University?
Betabee: Franklin, I don't currently have University life.
Franklin: OK. I guess it can wait. Shall I join the medical career?
Betabee: It depends. Do you want to have a child first to avoid needing to take leave later?
Franklin: Good idea. Billy, are you OK with us having a child together?
Billy: I wouldn't have moved in otherwise. Are you?
Franklin: I wouldn't have asked otherwise.

Darwin: This love charm should make the whole process easier for the two of you.

Things progressed quickly after that.

Billy: Shall we go the whole way and get hitched?
Franklin: I think my Victorian father would disapprove otherwise.

Betabee: Do you, William Tumnus Caspian, take this woman to be your wife?
Billy: I do.
Betabee: Do you, Rosalind Franklin Scientia, take this man to be your husband?
Franklin: I do.

Betabee: Then I pronounce you Dynasty heir and Dynasty spouse. You may kiss the bride.

Franklin: Tumnus?
Billy: My parents were C.S.Lewis fans.

Franklin: Are you sure you're OK with being my husband for the rest of your life?
Billy: Do you know when I first heard about you? I was at a dynasty helper's support group meeting; your grandpa Jon came in, full of talk about his young granddaughter who loved pink. I thought, 'Who else would be a good partner for a pink-winged fairy?'.
Franklin: Maybe we can try and get your wings back after the dynasty's finished- I'm still kind of partial to pink.
Billy: I do think I'm falling in love with you more and more.
Franklin: Because of Dad's love charm?
Billy: Because of you, Frankie.
Franklin: Do you know what I think? I think you're someone I would be happy to spend years and years with. I'm just sad that I won't have time at the moment.
Billy: Well, let's use the time we have productively, yes?

Franklin: Well, I heard chimes earlier, right?
Betabee: Indeed you did. I'm just waiting for the in-game confirmation.

Franklin: There we go. The third generation's on the way!
Betabee: Yep. And for forum members, your clues are as follows: Swan, Meister and Vin. Happy guessing!

Go Franklin!  I loved her sweet and cerebral courtship with Billy.  They're so cute together.  The updates for this dynasty are just so much fun to read.

As for the clues, I'm going to guess that Franklin will be drinking a lot of milk during her pregnancy.   ;)

Either that or the next chapter will take place at twilight (Bella Swan), feature some fast & furious driving (Vin Diesel), and end up with some broken wings (while the translation isn't correct, Meister makes me think of Mister, which leads directly to Mr. M(e)ister).   :D

I think you're right, Vinyl. The first time, not the second. I'd put §20 that it's either Louis or more likely Pasteur, since Betabee seems fond of the last-name basis.

Chapter 15: In which Billy plays peek-a-boo (amongst other events)

Franklin's museum pieces were finished during her pregnancy by Jo. This will probably be the last batch of museum pieces Jo will do- Darwin is about ready to take over doing all three pieces.

Franklin: It's so touching to know that grandpa made an effort to send us a wedding present from beyond the grave. How did he know?
Betabee: I'm not sure. Maybe he's been quite an active ghost.
Billy: Sounds like Jon. Why would a simple thing like dying stop him sending a gift to the wedding of one of his friends to his granddaughter?

Swan: Ahh. I can feel my bones creaking.
Wilkins: But you look lovely my dear- there isn't a grey hair to be seen in your fur.
Betabee: He's learnt from his father's mistakes I think.

Franklin spent the majority of her pregnancy fishing.

So much so that she went into labor there.

Franklin: Why does it have to hurt so much?
Betabee: You could go to the hospital and have an epidural if it hurts that badly?

Franklin: I think it's a bit late for hospital . . .

Congratulations are due to Vinyl and ombradellarosa for correctly guessing that Pasteur is the name of the third generation! Swan refers to the swan-necked bottles Pasteur used when experimenting with wine (or vin as he would have called it), which helped support the general recognition of germ theory. Meister refers to Joseph Meister, who was the first person to receive a vaccination for rabies.

Another food replicator as purchased in celebration. This won't be used for ambrosia, this is purely so I don't need to send some to cook every day.

Once Pasteur was safely in a crib . . .
Hosptial administrator: So why should we employ you, given that you have no degree?
Franklin: I have experience in medicine- I just delivered my own baby. Besides, no-one here has degrees yet because university life isn't installed.
Hospital administrator: Fair point. You've got the job.

everyone in the house (apart from Franklin, who was busy) spent time with Pasteur.
Darwin: I appreciate you have little motor control yet, but could you not tug quite so hard on my beard?
Pasteur: giggles

A brief side-trip to china occurred for one of Franklin's opportunities, allowing me to get this cool screenshot. Yay!

Franklin: Mum, why are you here?
Jo: Prepared traveller, darling. I'm off home. Have a good time!

They spent about a day or so there. Franklin's opportunity was completed that day, but after that I got bored and sent them both home again.

Betabee: What are you thinking about, Jo?
Jo: I think I'll feel more like a grandmother once I've had my elder birthday.
Betabee: Isn't it tomorrow?
Jo: Yep.
Betabee: Well, I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to be Pasteur's granny.
Jo: More time than dad had with Frankie, certainly.

Billy's taken up writing children's books, partly to keep him busy, and partly to help out with a later generation's supermax.

Billy: Jazz hands!
Betabee: Why are you teaching him jazz hands?
Billy: If he's to be the star I know he is, he needs to start early!
Betabee: This is a scientific dynasty. he's unlikely to be a star.
Billy: He's a star to me.

Darwin: Finally! 25th ice sculpture! What now?
Betabee: Go relax. Spend some time with your wife. Go for some supermaxes. There's no rush.
Darwin: And so the odd lot of museum pieces?
Betabee: You've got the idea already. Enjoy eternity!

Jo's elder birthday arrived the day before Pasteur's toddler birthday.

Darwin: You still look lovely, dear.
Meister: hides behind the sofa
Jo: I'll feel better after a wardrobe trip, to be honest.

Franklin: Mum, you're going to make an excellent granny.
Jo: Thanks dear. By the way, how's the fishing going? And your work?
Franklin: I've caught at least 150 fish, and I'm a bedpan cleaner now.
Jo: You'll get it done in time. Never fret.

Of course Darwin was on hand to ease the pain of elder-hood.

The next morning . . .
Billy: Do they have any treatments at hospital for uncontrollable giggles?
Franklin: Yep. Les Miserables often does the trick.

It seems Billy's hair colour wasn't passed down. Ah well.

He looks a lot like Franklin. I think he's got Billy's eye colour though.

Chapter 16: In which the readers get bombarded with cute toddler pictures

Billy: Your mummy spends her time fishing. Can you say fish?
Pasteur: Poisson!
Billy: We've got a way to go here . . .

Pasteur: Bonjour mamie!  (good morning granny!)
Jo: Good morning pasta! How's my little fusilli this morning?
Pasteur: Bien thanks, mamie. Papy a dit qu'il allait m'apprendre ą marcher aujourd'hui. (good thanks, granny. Grandad said he'll teach me to walk today.)
Betabee: Pasta?!
Jo: It seemed like a good shortening. Plus it means I have a variety of terms of endearment to choose from.

Darwin: That's right Pasta. Come to Papy . . .
Betabee: How's he ever going to learn simlish properly if you keep speaking french to him?
Darwin: I'm not sure. At least we should be able to reduce it to franglais if we work at it . . .

Pasteur: But Mamie, je ne veux pas apprendre l'anglais! (But granny, I don't want to learn simlish!)

Jo: Fusillli, If you don't learn simlish you can't ever discuss your favourite foods again. Nachos, sandwiches- if you abandon simlish completely these concepts will be unspeakable.
Pasteur: Pourqoi? (Why?)
Jo: They're all words which are borrowed from simlish. If you forsake simlish, you forsake simlish loanwords also.

Pasteur: True. Very well then- for my love of food I shall not abandon simlish.
Jo: Hang on- you were speaking perfect simlish there?!
Pasteur: Of course I can speak simlish, it's my mother tongue as a sim! I do vastly prefer french for its elegance though.
Betabee: Ladies and gentlemen of the forum, may I present Pasteur, a fine example of a jammie dodger?
Pasteur: You ain't seen nothing yet, watcher lady!

Pasteur's first museum pieces. I think the photo captures some of his personality quite well.

Jo: You're growing, pasta. I think my back's going to give out soon . . .
Pasteur: Petty jibes at my weight? Seriously, Mamie?

Pasteur: You do forgive me for the whole french business, right?
Jo: Of course I do! You were teasing me, I was teasing you right back, Fusilli.
Pasteur: Okay. Love you, Mamie!

Pasteur: Hello, people of the forum! My name is Pasteur, and this is my assistant Lapin. Today I am going to show you how to disappear using a toy-box. But in a few days, Mamie will let me use an oven, and I will bake you all muffins. Please send me your requests. But for now, Lapin and I shall vanish before your very eyes! Abracadabra!

Betabee: We can still see you, you know.
Pasteur: Ah, but Lapin has vanished completely!

Due to routing issues, I built a doghouse next to the pond. The dogs of the family will still have house access, but won't need to go in and block doorways.

Billy's birthday arrived as the next significant event.

Billy: Argh! Watcher, get me to a dresser before I get offered a job as a Legolas impersonator!

Betabee: Why do you have less hair in outerwear than in your other outfits?
Billy: The toupee gets soaked in rain or snow, which is very uncomfy. In the end I gave up.
Betabee: You could try a hat . . .
Billy: NO! I saw the pics of Jon. I don't want a beanie hat!

Betabee: Darwin, have you ever considered auditioning for the Wizard of Oz?
Darwin: Who's the Wizard of Oz?
Betabee: I'm not sure, but I've heard he is a Whiz of a Wiz if ever a Wiz there was!

The next set of puppies are on their way, and with them, the first set of enigmatic clues to the next generation!

Pasteur: Papa, why isn't mama here?
Billy: She's trying to complete a set of tasks so you and her and Papy can live for a very long time.
Pasteur: What about you and Mamie?
Billy: We . . . won't.
Pasteur: Is that why mama looks so sad?
Billy: Explain.
Pasteur: Parce que, she has to do so much for me and Papy and can't spend time with papa so much.
Billy: Quite possibly. You'll have your own set of tasks to compete, you know. But not until you're older.
Pasteur: Like making muffins for the nice forum people?
Billy: If you like.

Pasteur: Don't worry, forum people- Lapin will help me make muffins! Isn't that right, Lapin?  . . . Don't worry, forum people. I know you can't speak rabbit, but Lapin told me he'll help me make muffins.

Franklin: I hear from your Mamie you've been having fun!
Pasteur: That's right, mama! I've been learning franglais, vanishing rabbits and dreaming up muffin recipes!
Franklin: Aww, my boy's been busy! Not too busy for a tickle, though!
Pasteur: giggles uncontrollably

Billy: What do you think of the robot?
Pasteur: Okay. Not as good a toy as my Lapin though. I'd take a small bunny rabbit over a robot any day.

Billy: Do you remember the last time we were doing this?
Franklin: Sure thing. I was a teen, and you still had hair.
Billy: I know. I can feel the cold on my head!
Franklin: I wish we had more time together. I wish I didn't have so many of these requirements.
Billy: You worry too much, Frankie. You have all your ops done, you're level 4 in medicine and the fish are coming along well. You'll make them in time.
Franklin: I understand that, but I still wish I had more time so I can spend some time with you before you go.
Billy: I have an idea that may help with that. . .
Franklin: leans in . . .

CRASH!
Billy: oww. . .
Franklin: Maybe that wasn't such a good idea. . . How's your back?
Billy: I'll survive. I'll tell you what I was going to say later.
Franklin: OK. Better get off the ice before we properly do your back in, eh?
Billy: Good plan. OOh that smarts . . .

Luckily Billy's back was fine enough to hold Pasteur for his birthday.

Of course it would be cruel to end the chapter here. But this is my 25th screenshot, so . . .

Next time: Pasteur is a child, and Franklin finally gets to go to university! (just as the next EP is out. ::) )

Lapin is adorable.  I'll never look at the toys from the toy box the same way again.  D'aww, so cute!

I'm curious to see how Franklin does at University.  If you haven't already sent Franklin I suggest making three very important saves - one right before you send her, one before the graduation ceremony (if she graduates this term - after the final Friday exam is a good time for this save), and one after the ceremony but before you send her home.  Travelling to and from the university world seems to have a risk of bugs, and the other save is in case she gets blocked and can't get into the annex in time to get her diploma (at which point the game thinks she's done her degree and can't learn it again, but at the same time doesn't think she's done her degree and won't let her get jobs at a higher level or increased pay - a nasty situation to be in).

Thanks for the advice. I saved every sim day while Franklin was there, and luckily encountered no bugs at all!

I'm glad you like him. The next clues are coming up now . . .

Chapter 17- in which a clue arrives

Pasteur: Ta-da! We're back!

Pasteur: Mamie, the quality of these buy mode cakes is awful!
Jo: Well what did you expect, fusilli? Homemade cakes are far superior to shop brought ones.
Pasteur: I guess I'll have to do something about that. Cooking supermax, here I come!
Betabee: Done deal. As long as you're prepared to spend your teen years making sushi until your eyes water.
Pasteur: Why sushi? I'd much prefer to do pizza or something. . .
Betabee: But I haven't got a pizza oven.
Pasteur: Oh well, it was worth a try. I'm off to fix my clothes. Can you fix my room, watcher?
Betabee: Sure.

Pasteur's favourite colour is green, just like Darwin's. I hope this doesn't continue in later generations, purely  for my own sanity.

So, on with the bedroom tour!

Darwin: So, what do you think of your new room, Pasteur?

Pasteur: I quite like it, papy.

Pasteur: There's only one small addition I'd like to make. . .

Pasteur: There. Lapin has his place so he can keep an eye on me.
Darwin: Very good, Pasteur. Now, are you coming downstairs to wave your parents off?

Because, of course, Billy's master plan for more time with Franklin was accompanying her to university!

Franklin went for a science and medicine degree, while Billy opted for fine arts.

They spent many free hours together,

Though Franklin did dedicate some of her free time towards her fishing supermax.

Franklin: What's this, Billy?
Billy: I converted the garage into a secret hideout. So you have something to remember me by when . . .
Franklin: Stop talking right there.

The secret hideout was judged a success by all who saw it. (though it was quite a biased survey, with only two opinions registered on the matter).

Franklin did eventually supermax her fishing skill while at university.

And yes, we're at report cards in the same chapter because I zoomed through this in order to get to more varied things like Pasteur growing up.

They both got As, though neither of them graduated with honors.

They both got through the graduation ceremony without a hitch.

Billy: So, what now?
Franklin: We go home, I go back to work and we help Pasteur grow up.
Billy: Sounds good.
Franklin: Thanks for coming with me. I'm so glad we got some extra time together.
Billy: We'll get even more time together once the dynasty's finished. Don't worry, Frankie.

One last shot of university . . .

Pasteur: why can't I use the proper oven yet?
Betabee: Health and safety? You can't reach the top of it without a stool at present.
Pasteur: Silly rules. Oh well. Here come the muffins!

While Pasteur is busy, may I introduce the newest addition to the family: Trinity, daughter of Meister and Vin.

Several hours of baking later . . .
Pasteur: Here's your cake spread, forum! We have chocolate muffins, chocolate brownies, vanilla cookies, ginger surprise, lemon surprise, ginger and lemon surprise, and a classic blueberry muffin. Gluten free options are available on request. Help yourselves, the leftovers will be in the fridge.

Despite spending all day cooking (due to a snow day at school), Jo and Darwin managed to get Pasteur's child museum pieces together.

Next time:
Well . . .
Here's the problem ladies and gentlemen. We have ten in the house since Trinity was born. Pasteur will need two spaces for his wife and child, and Trinity will need two spaces for her husband and puppy. This means we need at least four deaths, and I can think of four people (well, two sims and two pets) in the house quite near death . . . it's only a matter of time, people. The next chapter may be quite sad (though I'm not certain, since I haven't played it yet).

Ah! Such are the limits of household size! Paving the streets of success with much sadness.  :(
