A rabbit named Fish. Haha! Well, maybe it's best she's not insane anymore, or else who knows what she would have named the baby! Guess we'll find out next time.

Wow! I've missed a lot! My unread messages have been piling up and it gets hard to distinguish which are new chapters and which are just comments. Sorry  :-[

Trinity, Comet, Fish? This is much harder than the last time! My guess is Edwin Holmes.

I'm glad you found it amusing.  :D I definitely agree it's good she's not insane anymore, though she isn't in charge of the baby names anyway.

That's ok- the good thing about missing bits is you get to read a load at once, right?

I had to look up who Edwin Holmes was. Unfortunately he's not the answer.

I apologize for increasing the difficulty level this time- I think Fish probably threw everyone, am I right? Never fear, stumped readers- the next chapter is here!

Chapter 24: In which there's a deluge of toddler spam spam spam spam . . .

And so, ?? finally grows up to be a toddler.

Newton ages up with his father's brown hair.
Yes, Newton! Trinity refers to the college of Cambridge university where he studied. One of his friends at the Royal Society, Edmond Halley, had a Comet named after him.
Forum: what about Fish?
Ah! Well, a book on the history of Fish nearly stopped Newton's most important work, the principia mathematica, being published because it meant the royal society didn't have enough cash to get it published. Halley ended up financing the book's publication.
It's summarised rather excellently in this horrible histories sketch!

I decided to change Newton's hair to his mother's colour. What I did, I did without choice, in the name of peace and sanity. (Mostly my own- brown hair for four generations in a row is crazy.)

Franklin: He likes blue too!

Fish aged up soon afterwards.

It's a shame to lose the floppy ears- maybe we'll regain them with the next generation of dogs. He rather resembles Comet.

Betabee: Looking forward to some food then?
Newton: Yeah, dad's stuff is far far better than granny's green bottle food.

Newton: If you keep pulling, will I grow taller?
Jill: No, I'll just lift you up.

For the sake of household space, I have decided to move out all the dogs except for Fish and Pi so there's room for the next generation. So we say goodbye to Vin, who has reached an impressive 60 days old.
Vin: So I'm off to a retirement home?
Betabee: Essentially, yes.

After a birthday dinner with Pasteur down at the Bistro (for a blackop) it was time for Franklin to have her last birthday.

Franklin: Jill, are you laughing behind my back?
Jill: No, just hiding. And inspecting your new bun more closely.

Betabee: What happened to your past hair?
Franklin: They didn't have an exact match, so I chose something sensible. Practical.

Betabee: I see you've done the same thing with your wardrobe.
Franklin: Indeed. These clothes need to last a few generations, anyhow. I may as well go for something sturdy.

Betabee: Bye bye Comet.
Comet: See you in 75 years or so?
Betabee: I guess. Off you go.

Newton's first museum pieces were completed in good time.

Pet adoption worker: AAAHHHHHHH. . . .
Trinity: And don't take any more dogs for a while, you understand? I'm coming with you to keep an eye on you . . .
Betabee: And so we only have 2 dogs left. This does allow room for new clues to generation 5, yay!

Newton: Don't be shy, Luca. Say hello to the nice forum people.
Luca: Maybe next chapter.

(betabee's sister goes all soppy at this pic)
(betabee's sister asks why betabee is noting down her reactions to pictures)
(betabee tells her sister that it's for comic effect really, and to stop typing in her posts)

Jill: And your granny is a doctor- she works to make people better.
Newton: Is that why she came up with that disgusting formula stuff I had to drink as a baby?

Jill: She doesn't just do that- she fishes as well.
Newton:Could she fish up the loch ness monster?
Jill: Don't be silly- the loch ness monster doesn't exist.
Newton: DO you have proof?
Jill: erm . . .
Newton: First rule of science, mum- question everything!

It's official, the next generation of puppies is on the way. Hopefully, you'll get a few more clues this time around (depending, as always, on household space).

Franklin's museum is finished, and she has all her friends, so it's that time of the dynasty again . . .

Ambrosia time!

Franklin: Could be saltier.

And so we have our second immortal. 1/4 of the way there, folks!

Chapter 25: . . .spam spam spam spam spammity spam! Spammity Spam!

*coughs* Sorry about that. Normal chapter titles will resume next time.

We begin the chapter with Jill's adult birthday.

Jill: And here's my old hair back.
Betabee: Want to change it back?
Jill: Can't be bothered.

Since Jill has completed her lifetime wish of being a blog artist (apologies for no screenshot) she's spending a bit of time with the alchemy station.
Jill: Because it looks interesting! Now don't distract me.
Betabee: OKay then. We'll just go see what Darwin's up to . . .

Is it me, or are elders magnetically attracted to the rocking chair?

Betabee: Frankie, stop threatening the cashier with the witches brew.

Franklin: This feels wierd.
Betabee: Why?
Franklin: I'm a scientist, doing magic. It's a bit 'cognative dissonance' really.
Betabee: I totally agree. But it will help keep you occupied over your immortality.
Franklin: True.

Betabee: Ah, two puppies this time! A boy and a girl.

I think this one's Doc (also known as Emmett).

The other one is called Olympia. Don't ask me which is which.
I haven't decided which is the heir yet; that will be decided when they grow up.

Newton: Worrying about the amount of toddler spam yet?
Betabee: Is it too little? Is it too much?
Newton: Don't fuss over it, Watcher. Just melt with cuteness like the rest of the forum.

Newton: Mum, I learnt a new trick today!
Jill: Really? Show me!

Newton: It's called puss-in-boots eyes. It incapacitates anyone in viewing distance with cuteness.
Jill: Awwwwwww. . .

Betabee: You won't be able to do that much longer, Newton- it's time to grow up.

One last cute toddler pic . . .

Betabee: Well?
Newton: Those sparkles are too close to see clearly. I guess I'll have to try to spot them again next birthday. Dresser?

Betabee: Long hair?
Newton: Hey, it was fashionable in my time.
Betabee: You are aware that was 400-ish years ago?
Newton: Some things never go out of style. Especially if you're a nerd.

Betabee: Scruffiness, for instance?
Newton: Yep.

Betabee: Well, here's your room.
Newton: Good.

Betabee: I hope athletics is an OK supermax?
Newton: Sure, it means I get a funner childhood.

Betabee: Luca grew up almost immediately after being placed down.

Newton: I have an idea.
Luca: Go on.

Newton: You drink this, I have a real playmate. Deal?
Luca: Way deal!

Ladies and gentlemen of the forum, may I introduce Luca Scientia (She's called Luca because Newton was the second LUCAsian professor of Mathematics at the university of Cambridge).

I decided to keep the hair- it suits her quite well.

Betabee: I know sea foam is your favourite, but will pastels do?
Luca: Sure. Can I do some painting now?
Betabee: Ok. There's an easel in the living room.
Luca: Awesome!

I'm so glad it's not just me. I'll have to invest in some more rocking chairs.

Chapter 26: In which we examine Newton's laws of motion (with examples)

Firstly, Newton's childhood museum pieces.
Newton: So, are you going to show pictures of my childhood in an epic montage?
Betabee: Nope. Mostly because it's dull and the viewers would like to see other things probably.

Newton: Such as?
Betabee: Well, the dogs aging up. Olympia went first . . .

Given we're in generation 6, we're quite lucky to still have slightly brown coats and floppy ears in the dogs. They're certainly no longer beagles though.
Olympia: We're beagles at heart, though.

It was Doc's turn next.
Doc: Bad sparkles! oww!

He eventually recovered from the sparkles, however. Doc will be the father of the seventh generation of dogs.

Next was Pasteur's adult birthday.

Pasteur: Not the hair again. Thank Watcher for mirrors!

Jill: Darwin, why do you have such a weird expression?
Darwin: Nevermind me. It's a side-effect of the cake. They're still putting a chemical causing overexcitement in the recipe, I think.

Betabee: No hairstyle changes?
Pasteur: Nope.
Betabee: Not even a different beard?
Pasteur: I don't want to get confused with Papie, now, do I? I'll only change it if I must when I'm old.

And so we come to Newton and Luca's birthday. It was Newton's turn first.

Newton: I can't quite high jump the sparkles . . .

Newton: (through clenched teeth) How bad is it?
Betabee: Don't ask.
Luca: Your hair hasn't grown with the rest of you.
Newton: Noooo. . .

Newton went to hide in the garden while Luca was attacked by the sparkles.

Luca: Well, how is it?
Betabee: Not half as bad.
Luca: I'd better go nab the dresser.
Newton: What about curing my unfortunate hair?
Luca: You promised- ladies first!

Betabee: I quite like the hair you aged up in.
Luca: I do too- I may change the colour of the flowers though.

Luca: A good range of colours.
Betabee: I take pastels are still OK?
Luca: Sure- it's more variety.
Newton: Are you done yet?
Luca: Just about. You shouldn't be in such a rush, Newton.
Newton: But the hair!

Betabee: Better?
Newton: Far far better.
Betabee: Now the wardrobe?
Newton: Must I?
Betabee: You care about your hair, but not your wardrobe?
Newton: Wardrobes are temporary. Hair is more permanent.
Luca: Please can you do your wardrobe? I'll help out if you like.
Newton: Fine. *grumbles and mutters under his breath*

Eventually the wardrobe was assembled.
Betabee: You could still go for some less scruffy formalwear.
Luca: On the other hand . . .
Newton: Pardon?
Luca: Nothing!

Newton: ANd now to example my Laws of Motion. The first law is as follows:
"Law I: Every body persists in its state of being at rest or of moving uniformly straight forward, except insofar as it is compelled to change its state by force impressed."
Newton: This means every object is either at rest (i.e. stationary) or moving at a constant speed if nothing is pushing it. Take me on this treadmill. If I stop moving on the treadmill. . .

Newton:. . . I am moved constantly by the treadmill in the backwards direction. Eventually, I reach the end of the treadmill, and the force of Gravity acts on me, causing a change in direction and velocity. Which leads me onto my second Law. . .

Newton: "Law II: The alteration of motion is ever proportional to the motive force impress'd; and is made in the direction of the right line in which that force is impress'd."
Newton: This means that the acceleration of an object is proportional to the force expressed on it, and is in the direction the force is acting in. For example, I have a hard time hanging off this bar because I'm having to fight the force of the earth pulling me downwards. If in open space near the earth, I would accelerate downwards at a significant rate.

Newton: And this brings me onto my final Law of motion.
"Law III: To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction: or the forces of two bodies on each other are always equal and are directed in opposite directions."
Newton: This means if you exert a force on an object, it will exert the exact same force on you in the opposite direction. For example, if I let go, I will land on the floor, which I will hit with some force. the floor will exert the same force in the opposite direction back onto me- hence why I don't want to let go!

While Newton was working on his supermax (and explaining gravity) his teen museum pieces were completed.

So were Pasteur's adult pieces.

We end this chapter with Fish leaving for retirement so there is more house space.
Fish: Say, what happened to the other pet worker?
Bowler-hat guy: She's still in therapy.

Next time: More of Newton and Luca's teen years.
Newton: So you're not glossing over them like you did our childhoods?
Betabee: Nope. They're comparatively interesting. . .

BTW, I sourced the quotes for the laws of motion off wikipedia. here's the link.

I really like that Newton is doing athletic. Super appropriate, especially the way you do it.

I knew Newton had to athletics as soon as I remembered Newton's laws of motion. :D
Fish had a good life while he was in the household. He left for the greater good of the household (i.e. to leave space for more puppies!).

Just an update on when I'm updating- I know I haven't been very good at updating regularly so far, but from now on, I will make a concerted effort to update this every saturday, and update my riversong dynasty every wednesday. Hopefully this means I can keep the story going despite university assignments and other real life business.

Chapter 27: In which the path to true love doesn't run smoothly

Firstly, it's Pi's turn to head for greener pastures.
Pi: Send me pictures of my grandpuppies, yes?
Betabee: Of course.

Luca: So how's your supermax coming along?
Newton: Okay. I'll be glad once it's done.

Newton: How about you? How's the painting coming along?
Luca: Yeah, that's doing well. I might move on to try something else soon. Any suggestions?

Newton: Maybe photography, when the weather gets a bit nicer?
Luca: *sighs* Or you could teach me some athletics.
Newton: Maybe once I've finished supermaxing it.

Luca: But that's the problem, Newton. I hardly see you these days- you spend the entire time in your room working on your supermax.
Newton: But I have to, Luca! Otherwise I won't have as much time to work on my career later.
Luca: Come off it- we're on normal lifespan. You've got forever.
Newton: Awful pun.
Luca: Thankyou.
Newton: Either way, I should have my supermax finished in a few days.
Luca: And then you'll take some time out to enjoy being a teen?
Newton: Yes Luca. By the watcher, you're worse than my mother sometimes.

Here's Pi's replacement- this is Quanten, she'll be having puppies with Doc when she's older. She's a welsh corgi, I think.

Betabee: Hold it right there- you're not going to prom in THAT, young lady.
Luca: Yes I am- I'm inappropriate, so I'll wear what I like to prom.

Luca: You can hardly complain about me, anyway- Newton's as scruffy as a stablehand but no-one's complaining about his outfit.

Newton: 'Scruffy as a stablehand'? Where do you get these idioms from?
Luca: One, it's a simile, and two, you really didn't pay attention in english class, did you?
Newton: What? I'm a scientist, not a grammatical expert.

Betabee, Franklin, Jill: So, how did it go?
Newton: Well, I got prom king.

Luca: And I got prom queen.

Franklin: That's not the whole story, is it?
Newton: Gran!
Jill: Of course it's not. I heard it all from your form tutor.
Newton: Fine. I may have danced with Luca a bit. But that's it. It was better than standing around doing nothing.

Jill: So when are you going to formalise things?
Newton: What things? It was just a dance, it wasn't a marriage proposal or anything.
Franklin: Boy, haven't you done the maths by now?
Newton: I don't want to have to do the maths yet.

Franklin: Strange- for a mathematician you're strangely adverse to doing the maths today.
Jill: And you have been waxing lyrical about her ever since she arrived in the post.
Newton: Mum!

Newton: I really don't need you two to matchmake. I want to focus on becoming an astronaut for now.
Franklin: You will need to have a child at some point, boy.

Newton: But I'm only a teen, gran.
Franklin: Fine. But do consider matters. If you're still not together when you're an adult, expect the nagging to start up again.

After a few more days of jogging through the night, Newton finally supermaxes athletic with quite a few days left before his birthday.

Betabee: It's strange how far you've come, Darwin. A victorian gentleman playing video games. . .
Darwin: Not now, watcher- I'm trying to outrace Mario on an automobile . . .

Luca: Now you've finished your supermax, how about going on a social outing?
Newton: What about school?

Luca: I thought it was a snow day.
Newton: But the bus is here.
Luca: Never trust the school bus driver.
Newton: Why would the bus turn up on a snow day?

Luca: I told you it was a snow day.
Newton: I see what you mean about bus drivers.

Newton and Luca had a good time on their social outing. After touring the theatre, they enjoyed the weather.

Luca: Won't your hands freeze if you handle snow without gloves?

Newton: Oh, don't worry. I'm in outerwear, I won't freeze. Despite the lack of gloves.
Luca: Or a hat.

And so, these two have spent their entire teen years skating around each other. Will they summon the courage to solve things? Tune in next time to find out!

Hehe, I love Newton getting tag-team nagged about prom night! Poor boy, so hard to have a private life in a dynasty house.

Indeed- he is quite outnumbered by Jill and Franklin, though I think Darwin and Pasteur are refusing to get involved.

Anyone else see the irony in Newton escaping Earth's gravity?

That's exactly why I made him an astronaut- so he can go and see the stars that he plotted the courses of. Newtonian mechanics is very useful for plotting the courses of spaceships.  ;D

Chapter 28: In which we have birthdays galore!

Since Newton has finished supermaxing athletics, I've replaced his gym with a dojo. If he manages to supermax martial arts before he becomes immortal, athletics can be another free skill to keep the scientists busy!

A bit of time was spent teaching Luca and Newton to drive . . .

. . . but they spent most of their week enjoying the weather. They had a long succession of snow days for their entire last week of school.

Quanten's adult birthday arrived during the week of snow.

She's a lovely dog! Here's hoping the puppies are just as lovely.

Franklin: Newton still hasn't talked to Luca about their relationship.
Darwin: Give him a bit of space, dear. I remember being a nervous teenager just like him. He needs time, that's all.
Franklin: Space-time?
Darwin: Exactly.

Next up was Jill's elder birthday.
Jill: Please can I not be too wrinkly . . .

Jill: Well, it could be worse.
Betabee: Indeed- though that hair doesn't suit you nearly as well in grey. Dresser?
Jill: okay.

Jill returned to having dreadlocks for her elderhood.

Jill: I've got the outfits- now all I need is a grandchild and I can rock the granny look. Newton?
Newton: I'm a teen, mum- we've been over this a million times!

Pasteur: Age has not dimmed your beauty, ma cherie.

Jill: And hopefully it won't dim yours either.

The day before Newton and Luca's birthdays, I made them take the aptitude test for university. The expressions they pulled while taking it are hilarious!

Unfortunately, due to bugs they cannot attend unversity (Whenever I try to move them in to a dorm, when I click the 'start playing this household' button it goes grey and does nothing. I tried three times, and it didn't work. Any fixes or ideas of fixes wound be much appreciated).

Newton: A supplementary example for my third law of motion: when I hit this, it exerts the same force back on me. Hence why it hurts to hit something solid, because the same force you hit it with hits you. I think I'll leave the board breaker until my hands hurt less . . .

Soon enough, it was time for a double birthday.

Newton: Ladies first, yes?

Luca: What on earth have I aged up in? Swimwear?

Newton: Please can I not age up in swimwear too . . .

Newton: Well, it isn't swimwear. How bad is my hair?

Luca: It isn't bad enough to override the 'ladies first' rule.
Newton: Hmph.

Betabee: Well done for aging up without a hair out of place.
Luca: Thanks. Wardrobe?

We're sticking with the pastel theme. (with quite a bit of blue in there. . .)

Newton: I guess you'll have to fix the hair again when I turn adult, right?
Betabee: We'll wait and see, but probably, yes.

Betabee: And I'd like to offer my hearty congratulations on aging up with perfect formalwear.
Newton: I certainly didn't plan on that. I'd have preferred a continuation on scruffiness, to be honest.

Next time: An unexpected journey . . .

It was after cake when I tried to send them. The loading screen for uni would go OK, they just weren't able to move in anywhere.  :'(
