I already see a lot of Betty in Faraday. How cute! I love how he's already talkative.
He's a cutie, that's for sure, with those big dark eyes. Shut up because it's energy efficient . . . much nicer than just telling him he's annoying! Hehe.
I'm very happy that he's nothing like the other scientists appearance-wise. He's going to be quite an interesting character to write, I think (especially if he keeps the babbling up!)
Chapter 38- Philosophić Naturalis Principia Mathematica
Since Newton is now nearing the age of immortality, it was time for his journey around town with a pocket full of potions. It's also the time for working out which townies are still alive and kicking after all this time . . .
Hal Breckenbridge seems to still be doing well.
(Scurries away to retrieve list of potential generation 8 fathers.)Maximus McDermott is still the consignment store clerk (and not dead, as happened in alternative chapter 12).
His brother Travis is also a vampire.
Newton: Erm, lady, would you mind being my best friend for a few weeks?
Rosemarie: I wouldn't mind doing more than that!
It was at this point that Newton decided he had enough best friends and beat a hasty retreat.
And so, onto the birthdays!
Newton: How bad is it?
Luca: Well, you didn't get the hairstyle the sparkles kept giving you for once.
Newton: (peeks at his clothing) Yeah, but I really need to visit a wardrobe. The sparkles have no taste whatsoever.
Though Luca didn't fare much better with the sparkles, the age-old 'ladies first' rule was implemented.
Luca makes such a sweet old lady. I tried to pay tribute to her former hair colour in some of her outfits this time around, though we're sticking with the pastels mostly.
Newton: It's so unfortunate that elderhood takes so much out of the physique. I'm positively weedy now!
Betabee: Look on the bright side- the reduced weight might be enough to persuade the military to let you be an astronaut! Lesser payload to send into space, right?
Newton: I'll just keep telling myself that . . .
Luca: And how's your day been, Faraday?
Faraday: It's been quite good, though I will be more satisfied when I am large enough to do a wider variety of activities. It will also be good to meet new people- I can't wait to be big enough to go to school! Do you think my classmates will like me?
Luca: I'm sure you'll be just fine, my dear little chatterbox.
In other news, we finally found the palladium for Einstein's simbot!
Forum: Yay!
But we don't have enough house space for Einstein to create (and then release) the simbot.
Forum: Boo!
We'll just have to wait for either Luca or Betty to move on. Then, before Faraday even considers a wife and daughter, the simbot will be created and moved out so Einstein can complete his supermax. In the meantime, he's back to the daily grind of making time machines for Simnation's secret service.
Newton's museum pieces were completed in record time. His only requirement left is maxing his career. An honorary degree in technology bought him a workaholic trait, though, so he should be done soon enough.
Faraday: Look! It's a flying sheep! I've always thought it makes more sense if sheep could fly rather than pigs, because they've got a nice wooly coat to deal with the lower temperatures up high in the atmosphere. What do you think?
Betabee: Ready for a bit of studying, dear?
Betty: Yep. It shouldn't take too long to learn enough for what we planned.
Betabee: That's my girl.
Betabee: How is the working from home going, Newton?
Newton: Pretty much done. The bar is about full.
Betabee: Good work. Go get some rest, dear. You'll want full needs before heading into work.
Faraday: Grandpa, why do you want to become an astronaut? From what I've heard, it's awfully cold up there. And there's the lack of air, the solar radiation, . . .
Newton: Just because it's dangerous doesn't mean it isn't worth the exploration. Who knows? The future of humanity is probably in the stars.
Faraday: Hmm. I don't think it would be for me though- I mean, what if we meet Klingons? Or daleks?
Fortunately, Newton managed to pass his last important day at work without encountering any sci-fi enemies, and proceeded straight to the replicator upon returning home.
Betabee: How is it?
Newton: It's far better than food in space. Especially the consistency.
We're halfway through, folks!
Especially with the traditional dishwasher shot . . .
