Hi, betabee! I've been reading yours and I’m happy that I finally can catch up the latest! It took a long time to get in there. Just want to let you know that you have another stalker reader who always stalking reading as silent stalker reader :P

Here are your comments:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Your story is enjoyable to read, I love it so far! Can't wait for Einstein teenage years days :)

Oh my, so many comments! I'll have to go back and look through to give you more detailed replies, I may do that tomorrow at some point. :-)

Floor hygiene: it's an important goal. Good to see that Einstein's got his priorities straight.  :P

Einstein: Indeed, floor hygiene isn't a high priority for many these days. Furthermore . . .
Betabee: I'll stop you right there before this is several pages long.

Notice:

My RL is quite busy at the moment- I'm currently trying to write a novel for Nanowrimo, as well as applying for a summer job and of course working on my degree. Therefore I have decided to put both my current stories on a temporary hiatus until things get less busy (probably sometime in the new year after my January exams). I'm not sure I could continue giving you the same quality of stories if I continued doing all these things at once, but these stories will resume, never fear! Thankyou for all the wonderful comments and for reading my stories so far.
Darwin: We will be back!

Awww, just when I finally can catch up your story... Okay, I'll be waiting for your comeback, Darwin & betabee! Real life must be the first priority here, good luck ^^

Darwin: We're back!
Betabee: Well, the Scientias are back anyway. The Riversongs may take a bit longer. Mostly because I've got a chapter ready for your enjoyment.

Chapter 34: In which life in the science lab is examined critically

Lie hasn't change much for the Scientias in the last month or so. Newton and Luca have continued sparring, the Immortals have continued to while away the time and Einstein-
Einstein: I'm still trying to make the floors of the world clean, and the commotion isn't helping. How did everyone get in here?
Betabee: Ah. I think that's my fault- I forgot to lock the door . . .
Einstein:*starts mumbling something about incompetent watchers*

Darwin: Franklin? I think Newton's trying to dislocate his knee while having his birthday.
Franklin: The sparkles will sort it, don't worry.

Darwin: But the sparkles have made him cross-eyed!
Franklin: Dad, it's only temporary. Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Franklin: See? All back to normal.
Newton: I do wish Great-grandad would stop fussing so.
Franklin: He's gotten worse with age, boy. I suspect he'll only stop worrying about us after we're done.

Luckily, Luca was able to operate her ratchet without problems.

Newton: I do envy that the sparkles don't mess up your hair.
Luca: The trick is to concentrate when the sparkles hit- it's like regeneration and dress sizes.

Betabee: You do know you can't make Puzzle real, right?
Einstein: I know. *sigh*. But the heart knows no such bounds.
Puzzle: I will wait for you, don't worry. When there are no restrictions on household sizes or suchlike, I will be there for you.
Einstein: Thanks, Puzz.
Betabee: So, what will you do in the meanwhile? I would remind you of the need to have a child within the household. And no, simbots don't count.
Einstein: Erm . . . I'm not sure really. My heart isn't into going out to find someone. You want me to have a child with an older woman, right?
Betabee: It would really help out your child if its mother was older than you.
Einstein: You find someone, then. It can't be outside your abilities to locate an older woman.

While I set to the task of finding Einstein a partner, he heads off to prom.

Betabee: You could try to find someone at prom, you know.
Einstein: All my classmates are male. I don't think looking for a partner at prom in such circumstances would be helpful.
Betabee: Ah. The disadvantages of late-game spouse hunting.

Despite having a distinctly platonic prom, Einstein managed to enjoy himself. (I think.)

Betabee: What's this under the snow that the camera wants me to look at?

Betabee: Why! It's Anode, all grown up! Happy birthday!
Anode: Thanks. I'm off to have a nap.

Betabee: YES! We got photographic evidence of Newton's unfavoured natural hairstyle which occurs whenever he wears his martial arts kit! MWA HA HA H-
Luca: Now now, watcher. Be nice.
Betabee: *coughs* Sorry. I got a bit carried away . . .

Not another camera pan . . .

Einstein: Bye Doc. Say hello to Marty from me.
Doc: You bettcha. See you in 1885.

Grim: Here doggy doggy. Nice doggy . . .
Maxwell: The name is Prof. James Clerk Maxwell. Be careful whom you call 'doggy'.
Grim: Ah. Sorry. I thought dogs couldn't talk.
Maxwell:*sigh* You haven't been reading this immortal dynasty, have you?
Grim. Nope. This is my first day on the job, actually. Bob retired last month.
Maxwell: You've got a lot to learn, then. Go read the back issues.
Grim: Yes prof.

Older woman? Check. This is Betty Simovitch, an original townie who didn't hear about what happened to Billy.

And so Pasteur turns on the classic french charm.
Pasteur: Thankyou for inviting me to your party. By the way, would you like the opportunity to participate in a watched household?
Betty: Remove my Lycanthropy and I'll think about it.

One potent cure later . . .
Betty: Thanks! I hate moulting, it's such a relief not to have the fangs either. So, what was it you were saying about a watched household?
Pasteur: You'll be the spouse for an heir to an immortal dynasty. Other than that, you have no duties.
Betty: Sounds neat. I can develop my composing skills- I might even be able to fulfill my lifetime wish! I'm in.
Pasteur: Excellent.

Betabee: Looking at your age panel, you're about to turn adult. Fancy a cake for the occasion?

Betty: Of course I would like cake! It's not everyday you get cake, especially as a townie.

Betty: Well, that wasn't too bad . . .
Einstein: Yay, the sparkles didn't kill you! Is this the person you found? Has she got a floor hygiene certificate? Does she like bunk beds?
Betty: Hang on, is this the person I'm meant to marry?
Betabee: Erm, yes. Betty, meet Einstein. Einstein, meet Betty.
Betty: Hmm . . . Did I rush into this a bit?

Betabee: You didn't rush it, honest! It took several hours to persuade you to join the house- other townies have been persuaded to move in in minutes. Case in point- Billy Caspian.

Betabee: And you won't have to spend that much time with Einstein, you can learn whatever skills you want . . . are you okay?
Betty: I think so- it may take me a little while to get used to this. I have only one other question.
Betabee: Go ahead.
Betty: *whispers*
Betabee: *whispers back*
Betty: Are you sure it's okay?
Betabee: I'm sure. Ask Einstein about it.
Betty: Okay.

What were we whispering about, you ask? I'll let you know in a few chapters time when it becomes more relevant to events. Until then,

An update about when I'm updating:

The updates may be a bit sporadic for a while, folks. I've still got to revise for exams in January, so I'm not even going to attempt to write another chapter for the Riversongs for a while. I wanted to get a chapter or two for the Scientias posted now though, since I had an awesome idea for a christmas special (which will be posted nearer to christmas- watch this space).

Normal service should be resumed after my exams have finished.  :)

Thanks! It's good to be getting back into simming and writing. :)
I've been hoping to get more townie genes into the family for a while now. It's a miracle Betty's still here- I think she probably got stuck in Werewolf form, stopping her from aging up and keeping her young enough to be the mother of generation 6.

Nice to see some original townie blood still hanging around to spice up your genetics! Although, poor Ein; not being able to follow his heart. I've had the same trouble with sims swapping into a bad hair style when doing martial arts. I guess they can't concentrate if their hair isn't just so?  :P

Thanks! Doc was always meant to be a massive massive Back to the future reference- I love that trilogy.  :D There should be more cliffhangers for your enjoyment in the christmas special.

I guess for Newton, his normal long hair might get in the way when he's trying to do his martial arts thing. I don't know.

Chapter 35: In which Einstein (and I) learn some very important lessons

Betabee:Ah, Einstein! How's the supermax coming along?
Einstein: Very well, thankyou. I've constructed at least one hundred floor hygienators; surely enough to set the world of underfoot sanity to rights! When can I get on with the rest?

Betabee: Well, you're still too young to explode things, but i've set up the dishwashers ready. In the meantime, you could discover other inventions, I guess. And have you any ideas about the career you want to persue yet?

Einstein: I've got more than an idea- I'm just going to register as a self-employed inventor and sell all my floor hygienators.
Betabee: Good plan. Off to the town hall you go!

Newton: I had no idea that joining the inventing career would lead to my son becoming a dad as a teenager.
Betabee: It's not that bad, Newton; it really means that Einstein is already at level 7 of his career, despite being a teenager.

Luca: Well, that was the last sparring match you need. Do you want to book the tickets to China or shall I?
Newton: I don't mind either way. Don't forget to tell the nice hotel people that you've got prepared traveller.

Betabee: Ah, finally you've got here.
Newton: Don't blame us for taking our time. Airport security in and out of simnation is really thorugh these days. Not to mention the time it took to get our bags.
Betabee: No matter. Luca, I expect you to head home now so I can focus on getting a set of epic montage shots to fill out some of this chapter. Readers should also note that the Christmas special, Snowflake days of futures past, happens sometime during the following montage. It should all be posted by christmas day if you want to read it as a complete short story. Anyway, onto the montage!

Newton: Well, that was fun. So was the long journey home.
Betabee: It was worth it- you've now supermaxed Martial Arts!

In other news, the next puppy (and last clue to Einstein's child) is on its way!

Now Newton has supermaxed Martial Arts, athletics is a free skill. Therefore, Most of Newton's room has been converted back into a gym so the whole troupe of immortals can be a bit healthier.

Darwin: I'm tired and hungry. Why am I doing this, Newton?
Newton: Because you've got lazy and need to be healthier! Because you want to be strong enough to put your hands through walls without flinching, like me! You can do it! COME ON!

And we get to that time of chapter again . . .
Einstein: Cake-sneezing time!
Betabee: Erm . . . not quite. Try again.

Luca: I see the bad automatic hair runs in the family! *giggles*
Einstein: Aren't mothers meant to be more supportive than this?
Betabee: Your mother is as unique as you are. Get used to it, and get over to the dresser.

I'm not entirely sure about the 'tasche. It's mainly there as an extra thing to help me differentiate between people in the house at a glance. What do you think, forum? Keep or get rid of the moustasche? Answers, along with other facial hair suggestions if the moustasche is voted off, in the comments.

Betabee: And yes, he's finally got himself a stetson.
Einstein: Well, I think it's cool.
Betabee: And who did you get that idea from?
Einstein: Some bloke who poked his head out the blue box in the front yard.
Betabee: *sigh*. I thought I was saving all the dr who references for the Riversongs, but obviously not.

Einstein: So, it's Dishwasher explosion time, right?

One big bang later . . .
Einstein: Well, the fires can't be that bad, right?

Well, I thought so too. All the fires on the grass were put out, but then smoke was still rising from the lot. I checked downstairs and saw the scariest sight in a watcher's life . . .

Betabee: OH MY WORD THE MUSEUM IS ON FIRE!
Darwin: Would it help if Frankie and I teleported down to put them out?
Betabee: Yes yes yes get on with it please please please can it not do too much damage . . .

Franklin: Well, at least the museum isn't damaged. All the pieces are still intact. Where's the Watcher?
Darwin: I think she's taking the rest of the chapter off to recover from the scare. Or something like that.

Franklin: Well, after we cleaned up as best we could, we teleported back to the main levels (since the watcher didn't put in any stairs down to keep the place safe from burglars, I dread to imagine what would have happened if we didn't already have a teleporter . . .)
Darwin: And Einstein, please don't explode things above the museums ever again. In fact, you are hereby banned from exploding things at home. Understood?
Einstein: Yes sir.

Darwin: Oh, and you need to tidy up the yard after all that mess you made.
Einstein: This is going to take a while . . . *sigh*.

Yay! Another update from betabee! Your name sound like beetee who happens as my favourite character from Catching Fire :3

Wow, I just love how you put dishwasher into a order like that. That was really something and neat to see. I guess Newton already had Dad material as well? It's funny to see someone spar with umm... what it called? But it looks like a hat or straw? I don't know but I find that's strange ;D

Seeing Newton with a mustache? Why not? He seems fit with that facial hair and I agree. If he’s not fit I will vote down anyway, as beard enthusiast I am quite reasonable anyway not like some freak weirdo. I think facial hair is one thing that makes men charming in their own way, as they are not having feature like women. Some people fit well with facial some of them is just don’t.  But, you need to consider about his hair without hat though, he doesn’t seem fit with mustache, he need more suitable hair to consider if you plan to put that one.

Haha, one big bang… Great I want to watch Big Bang Theory again after this.

Interesting thing to see museum on fire, will someone sing along Girl on Fire with me? Oh, there’s no girl in there :P

Oh my gosh! You must have been completely freaking out! I know I would've been. Thank goodness for teleporters. Good lord! Of course, I'm not sure it would've made a difference for the purposes of the dynasty if the paintings had gotten burned; it's not like fire actually makes them disappear, I suppose. But still! Whew!

I like beetee too- I like that he uses his intelligence to escape the arena rather than brute force.
I chose betabee because that's what I call my simself- bee is a bit similar to my real name, while beta indicates it's a second version of myself (or it's work in progress . . .).

It took forever to do those dishwashers. I'll have to do a load more at some point so Einstein can finish the skill challenge (though obviously not above the museum this time. . .).

I agree with you on the hatless hair front- maybe I'll have to alter it on his next birthday or something (in a few chapter's time).

There's several statues of (a) girl. Does that count?

Mmm, for me he would be looking better as you choose him to be, betabee. I see no problem with his current hair without hat and that’s fine for me. I don’t know what Eld has something on mind though.

I always enjoy meeting the silent readers, mostly because I'm often a silent reader myself. (Note to self- go comment on stuff more often!) Thank you for sticking around to enjoy my writing. :-D

Oh my gosh! You must have been completely freaking out! I know I would've been. Thank goodness for teleporters. Good lord! Of course, I'm not sure it would've made a difference for the purposes of the dynasty if the paintings had gotten burned; it's not like fire actually makes them disappear, I suppose. But still! Whew!

I was more worried about the sculptures myself- would they melt or something? I was totally freaking out, especially as I hadn't installed stairs (to prevent museum thefts). There is a moral to this story somewhere. Maybe I should mention this on the 'how to (nearly) fail a dynasty' thread as a cautionary tale . . .

Chapter 36: In which the author reserves the right to return to previous chapter naming themes (or Classical unified field theories)

For all the guessers out there- the last clue for generation 6 is here! Meet Dynamo, a lovely little girl.

With Dynamo's birth, it's time for Anode to leave the house. We now have seven sims (three immortals, Luca, Newton, Einstein and Betty) and two dogs (Maxwell and Dynamo) in the household, leaving one space for generation 6 to arrive. Einstein's supermax will require a space too, but we don't have the palladium for it yet and the opportunity hasn't come up, so the simbot will have to wait for another space to free up.

Hence, it's time for a bit of magic to hurry things along.

Einstein: Hello Bet-
Betty:*kisses him*
Einstein: Woah, that was sudden.

Their romance progressed very quickly.

Betty: Unfortunately, you and I are both celebrities, so to avoid bad moodlets from silly town gossip and tabloids, will you marry me?

Einstein: Sure. It's not my fault the town thinks I'm some sort of Tony Stark, but it would be unfair to drag you into it too much.

The wedding area was quickly modified to the couple's tastes . . .

Betabee: Do you, Elizabeth Adelaide Simovitch, take this man to be your husband?
Betty: I do.

Betabbe: Do you, Albert Einstein Scientia, take this woman to be your wife?
Einstein: I do.

Betabee: Then I pronounce you Dynasty heir and Dynasty spouse. You may kiss the bride.

Betabee: What the . . .? Isn't Fatima dead by now?
Darwin: Maybe she's been on the phone to Jon or something.
Betty: It's very thoughtful of my mother to go to the trouble.
Betabee: It's a family tradition.

In other news, the immortals managed to drag Einstein away from his mass production of time machines long enough to get his museum pieces done.

Betty: So what happened to the token vomiting shots?
Betabee: We're classier than that here in the science lab- the tummy shot is enough really. Here's a spa ticket, go treat yourself.

Einstein: Puzzle! You're . . . different. What's up with the hair?
Puzzle: I dyed it. So what?
Einstein: Erm . . . okay.
Puzzle: I heard about your marriage.
Einstein: Right. I'm sorry, it's not like I have much choice in the matter . . .
Puzzle: I wouldn't overthink it, Einstein- you have your own life here in the real world, where you do sensible things llike marry and have children, and I have my own life in the imaginary world, where I dye my hair and read books and wish I could be real. But I can't be real yet, so I distract myself as best I can.
Einstein: I would have preferred to make you real, to be honest.
Puzzle: I know.
Einstein: I've discussed the situation with Betty, and we've agreed to go our separate ways the other side of immortality.
Puzzle: I know. And I understand. The long years will pass faster than you can imagine, don't worry.
Einstein: I'm not worried. I'll distract myself.
Puzzle: Same here.

Dynamo is a sweet puppy. The dogs are getting a lot more fussing these days given the immortals are idling most of the time, though I'm sending Maxwell hunting for palladium when I can for Einstein's supermax.

Pasteur: It's so good not to have to do anything!
Newton: Don't rub it in- I've got several more levels of handiness to get through for work.
Pasteur: Could you fix the dishwasher, then?
Betabee: I'll replace it.  Stop distracting him!

Einstein is still working on the time machine front, and probably will be doing so for the next several chapters, so don't expect to see him more than once or twice a chapter for a while.
And yes, Puzzle is still bugged- it happens every so often within game.

Pasteur: Any ideas for baby names yet?
Betty: Well, the watcher sorted it a while back. She's told me, but you're not going to know until next chapter.
Pasteur: Darn. The suspense is terrible.

Darwin: Ah, my grandson's father-in-law! Good to see you're still alive and kicking. How are the boys? How's Olivia?
Shaun: Well, Claudio and Anton are still around in the pack. Olivia passed on a while back. It's good to know that she's keeping Jill company. How's my grandson?
Darwin: Well, your great-grandadson, Einstein, is all grown up. They've got a baby on the way as well.
Shaun: Blimey- a great-great-grandchild already!
Darwin: What's scarier is I'm going to be a great-great-great-grandfather in a few days.
Shaun: Ah, aging bugs and ambrosia! Both have a great lot of things to answer for.

Speaking of great-great-great-grandchildren . . .

Puzzle: You do know your wife is in labour?
Einstein: I can hear her from here- of course I know. Which is partly the reason I'm trying to concentrate on finishing this off . . .

Of course, it's slightly cruel to end the chapter at this point, what with another couple of screenshots before reaching the limit, but I want to give you fair people of the forum a chance to guess the name of generation 6. So, in no particular order, your clues are Maxwell, Anode, and Dynamo. Happy guessing!

Another update about when I'm updating:

I'm going to try and post an update a week, either for the Scientias or the Riversongs (not two in a week as I did last term), depending on which I've been playing. These updates will probably occur Sunday evenings, so keep your eyes peeled (or check Monday morning!).
