I'll throw in this sneaky little tip here for challenge players since I'm such a nice guy — let your Wishmasters Sims hygiene drop into the yellow regularly. That will often trigger a wish to get a washer or a dryer. Buy it, and just turn around and sell it. 250 easy happiness points.

:o People don't like the laundry thing? I love it, I find it really fun. Also, gives GREAT mood boosts. Who doesn't like clean laundry?

I have enough laundry work to do in real life...don't want a simulated version of it to do too.  :D

One thing I discovered yesterday (for doing laundry in big houses) is after you click "Do Laundry" on the washer (don't use the hamper!) the icon that pops up says "Do Laundry in Room", but you can drag the icon to the right and it will change to "Do Laundry on Lot".  I tried this with a sim when I discovered it and, sure enough, she walked to each hamper, gathered clothes, and then put it all in the washer.

This also works if you're in a room with no hamper. It will automatically do "Do Laundry on Lot" so in case you forget to pull it out, you'll be saved if you're in like a living room with no hamper.

I only have the base game and High End Loft Stuff. Do I need another expansion pack?

Yes you will need to get Ambitions to do proper Laundry.   :)

That is false. I do not have Ambitions just Sims 3 and if your game is up to date and you have a Washer and Dryer they work just fine. You wash clothes when they change their clothes go onto the floor or in the hamper. They work for me anyway.

I believe you can now buy laundry appliances and hampers at the Sims 3 Store. This now makes laundry available for everyone.

Thanks for this information.  It's difficult to know what is exclusive to an expansion pack and what has been added to the base game sometimes.

I've seen those, too.  That makes me believe that anyone with the Sims 3 base game that is updated to the most recent update will have washers, dryers, and clotheslines for laundry even without owning Ambitions.

They probably decided they could make more money by putting it on the store. So they have put it in a patch since we all thought it was not possible but it seems that now it is.

It's hard to know for sure because so many of us have the expansion packs.  It seems to me that they would have added it to the base game in a patch when Ambitions was released.
