At What Point Do You Like to Quit A Career or Retire?

I also have my elders retire, unless they have a really good paycheck. But even so, I usually retire them. My current sims are both self-employed, though.

I don't really play elders at all, unless they are in a Dynasty, in which case they just keep going...and going... 

The rare times I have played 'normal lifespan' elders, they didn't retire at all, mwahaha! My sims don't quit work either, unless it's a max-as-much-as-you-can affair.

I used to have them keep working, but with Generations and WA that I just got yesterday I'll retire them so they can start going to France on trips and use the cane.  I just think France would be the nicest place for Elders.

I usually let the elders retire, once they hit the elder stage in order for them to take care of their grandchildren.  If they do not have grandchildren, I move them out of the house after retirement and make them take care of other people's children so they can have a nanny 24/7 who gets no payment and contributes pension money for the house.

There's one peculiar retirement case I had, a rich Sim daughter of the Leader of the Free World. She chose the science career track and reached her LTW and Level 10 of her career. They were so wealthy, that I chose to have her retire even before she became an elder coz I hate her "mad scientist" uniform, she's so beautiful and she looked so silly walking around as a mad scientist! She's now at home speculating what career she'd like to go in next.

My sims retire when they have no Career-related goals to aspire to. (Me-speak for, they retire when I want them to. ) However, Naomi and Rachel Bonanza (My dynasty) will work forever. I also intend for that to be the case for every heir.
