Thank you, Schipperke.
Well, I have some more results of my testing to share, unfortunately.
- I tried building a square foundation and saving, crash.
- I tried building a square room with no foundation, crash.
- I tried opening a different save file and built a square room with no foundation, no crash.
- I built a square foundation in this save file, no crash.
- I built a square foundation with a square room on top of it, no crash,
- I destroyed the building I made and saved, no crash.
- I went back to my dynasty file and immediately saved the game without building, no crash.
- I built placed a 1x1 foundation tile and saved, crash.
It looks like the problem I'm having is specifically with my dynasty file and only after building. Really, the last test I have to perform is to see if a new file will have the problems. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm back to square one with my dynasty. I still think that this is an issue related to the new patch since I've never experienced anything like this previously. My favourite part of playing The Sims is building new homes, so I've built hundreds of them across many, many save files. This is the first time my game has ever crashed, for any reason.
Edit:
Update - I started a new file and placed my founder on the dynasty lot. I gave it a test run and built a few walls and squares of foundation. It saved just fine. However, I just played through 3-4 sim days (Claire had her baby today), and when I went to build a new home, the game crashed.
