Chapter 4.  Spooky Day through Gift Giving Day

Dear Journal,

I had another dream.  I've been really excited for Spooky Day coming up!  I dreamed that, the day before the holiday, Gladsten and I carved jack-o-lanterns.

And then for Spooky Day itself we went to the Fall Festival, where we explored the haunted house, bobbed for apples,

and picked pumpkins from the the pumpkin patch.

Sweet Dreams,
Pep

In real life Spooky Day wasn't as idealistic for Pep.  They still carved jack-o-lanterns the night before.

For Spooky Day, they went to one of Gladsten's friends' costume party.  This wild horse must have gotten stuck in some quick sand or something.

Gladsten's previous romantic interest was there.  Hopefully, she doesn't mind seeing that he has moved on.

Gladsten played fetch with his pal.  I think he might have stolen the ball afterwards.

Pep practiced her fairy tricks.

As the season began to turn, Pep even attempts to help Gladsten increase his athletic skill just so she could try out a new aura.

During her break from gardening, Pep enjoyed the snow.

And of course, more zombies visited during the full moon.

Right before Gift Giving Day, Pep and Gladsten take a trip to France.

While Gladsten tries some opportunities to explore tombs and fish for frogs, Pep harvests grapes and tries to learn nectar making.

Who ever designed this room must not approve non-married couples sharing a bed.  Poor Gladsten has to spend the first night in France on the couch.

Back in Moonlight Falls and back to winter weather.

They try throwing a Gift Giving party, but Gladsten lights the stove on fire.

I'm sure that made quite the impression on their guests.  All of the guests who brought food left it in the snow.  Thanks friends.

Pep tries to tell Gladsten it's time for bed.  I don't think he appreciated her methods too much.

I definitely think you should. And don't worry, it's not obnoxious at all, I've seen other people do similar things. Tilia here has "crash dreams" in her dynasty. The garden really was lovely, too bad it didn't save. But I think I should warn you, when I tried to lock that particular gate against zombies it didn't work. So check that before a full moon! I used to get really mad when my game crashed or didn't save, and I still do sometimes if I accomplished a lot or things fell into place really well, but now I look at it as an opportunity to do things even better, fix mistakes I wouldn't have made, etc. I find that mindset helpful.

Yeah, that's what I did, having Gladsten move in before upgrading her garden, that way he could upgrade the sprinklers for so she wouldn't have to learn handiness.  Although World Adventures is so buggy for me that is kind of a pain to go through that again.

Great title!  I always thought the Katy Perry stuff looked far too silly to bother owning but, you're right, it suits this idea perfectly :)

Thanks!  I was searching the thesaurus for synonyms that go with 'sweet' or 'candy' and this is what I came up with.

Hurray! Gladsten is a new one, I haven't seen him in a dynasty before. I am excited to see where this goes.

I might be in trouble with two commitment phobic sims.  It doesn't look like I'll be able to count on 'marry so-in-so' for one of her 5K wishes.

Getting them engaged should encourage Pep to pop the wish if you can even get them engaged, lol

I had no trouble having commitment phobe Marjorie propose to non-commitment phobe Zack, but she never did pop the wish over at least one week, maybe two of being engaged. I had to give up and have her do something else for that wish.

That bikini top she has is just so perfect. I love quirky themes, this is so much fun! And I am enjoying their house. By the way, when you do gingerbread, I found there's a combination of a certain brown leather and white paint that looks very gingerbread like.

Good to know.  I've been sticking with the free wallpaper/siding (whatever that is) until they get a little more money.  I'll try out leather once they can afford the upgrade.

Absolutely, that's what I do too. May I recommend some of my favourite ways to make money?

Of course there's Midas Touch. Well worth the §1K or so it costs at the consignment shop. Buy the most expensive statue you can afford, Midas Touch it, sell it, buy more, repeat. Ridiculously easy to make so much money that way. I have also made §20K at a time easily by 'flipping' the elixir consignment store. I buy up the store, as much as I can, then consign it back.Wait until 17:00 and the money rolls in! Finally, wildflowers. I don't know if you have discovered the wonder of those yet. Obviously it is snowy now but when the snow melts look for the wildflowers (they are particularly prevalent at the festival grounds) and sell them. They pop wishes to collect more too, which is nice. The bright red Cosmos are the ones to watch--§600 each!

If I can figure out how I'll upload some of my gingerbread house walls to the Swap Shop.

A sim year later, and this werewolf has them swimming in money.

Chapter 5.  Fast forward through the next year

This fairy zombie kept going inside the fairy house.  I had never seen that before.

Stop by the pool to escape the spring showers, and could Pep be changing her mind about marriage?  We can only hope.

Weather permitting, Pep has just been gardening up a storm.  Come fall, she maxes gardening and completes two of the three skill challenges.  She's also been making nectar in her basement and is up to level six or seven, and has already completed one of those skill challenges.  Meanwhile, after maxing athletics and handiness, Gladsten is promoted to astronaut.  Now, working only one day a week that leaves him time to search for gems and hopefully fish for death fish when the weather warms back up.

This year, they try throwing a Spooky Day Party of their own.  This hotdog meets his maker.

Come winter and there isn't much for them to do.  Pep's garden has gone dormant and she's sold off too much produce to the consignment store to make more than a couple batches of nectar.  This leaves them with trying to find other ways to occupy their time.

They visit the Winter Festival.  They try out ice skating.  It doesn't look like either one knows what it is to ice skate.

Snowball fight.

Pep makes a snow angel.

Gladsten tries out snowboarding.

Time for some hot chocolate to warm the insides.

Between the gems, and Gladsten's hefty astronaut holiday bonus, they are able to landscape their house.  Pep tries out the new fire pit.

Laying on the snow, the vampire gnome looking like she is flying.

The couple throws a Gift Giving Party on Snowflake Day.  Pep calls Gladsten under the mistletoe.

The guests circle around the gifts.

Pep gets a stereo.

Gladsten gets a video game system and a painting.

Now, it's just wasting time until the snow melts and Pep can get back to her garden.  She reads a book.

They build an igloo.

They build snowmen.

Pep gets caught up in the holiday spirit.

Lastly, here is their house after landscaping.  The inside could still use more furnishing, not that they can't afford it.

Questions and concerns:

  • Both Peppermint and Gladsten popped a wish to be worth more than 300,000 for 7,500 points and then my game crashed.  Restarted it and only Gladsten popped the wish.   That's just frustrating.  Not much I can really do about that.
  • The plum trees won't bloom so she still hasn't been able to complete her first opportunity.  Do they only bloom during a certain season or something?  She can't seem to tell them to bloom with her fairy magic either.  Right now, I'm in summer and the only plant she can seem to tell to bloom is life fruit.
  • Vacation days refers to traveling to China, Egypt or France, right?  After she's completed all of her requirements for bringing in the next generation is she allowed to go back?  I might want to go back and get that last type of grape that she can only get from the merchant, I believe.  If they can't ever go back no one will ever have the Vise points to allow for more than a 3 day trip.

I read the first couple of pages of it, but it is almost 60 pages which is too long to go through in its entirety.

You should still ask on the thread as I have read every page, not at once, and I can't recall anyone asking questions like yours.

You don't have to read the whole thread, the challenge board staff understands that the thread  is too long to read so you can just ask your questions. I do keep current reading it though, just start from where you are and that way you know the latest.

I agree that the house is gorgeous! I'm sorry to hear about your wish problems.
