The Sims 3 Lag
« on: January 15, 2013, 06:13:08 PM »
I have searched many forums over this past week to try and fix the lag on my Sims 3 game. I have reinstalled it just to the base game to see if that lag and it is still lagging/freezing.
I have 8gb of ddr3 ram and i am using a nvidia 560 TI. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to our Forum.

The first thing that comes to mind is that you might not have a compatible graphics card.  Here is a list of cards and information about whether they will play the game properly.  If it's not the graphics card, we'll have to look at other possibilities.  We have some very good technical members who will hopefully be able to help you.

I plan to upgrade my graphics card very soon and it will be the second time for me.  Each expansion that is released adds to the drain of the graphics card and makes it harder and harder to play the game.  You might try looking at the sticky topics on the Technical Help board, too.  We have quite a few things that you can do to clean up and maintain your game.  I suggest reading these topics:

Did you check your fps?(Frame rate) per second. To do that type fps on in the cheat bar.

Don't trust that list! After I viewed it I bought a GTX 660 ti card, it is on the list as playing all EP's. After I installed it, TS3 did not recognize it. It is working fine and is fantastic in other games. If you know an easy fix for this let me know.

I found that after extensive research and a HECK of a lot of money in upgrades *grumbles* the thing that caused the most lag for me was my processor. Once I replaced it with something a lot more heavy duty, my game sped up and now runs with almost no lag whatsoever. In fact, I spent 2 days playing solid just to make sure! And it was sooo nice to be able to play properly without lag. Even the time worked properly. When I put it on super-fast time... it actually went superfast!

So what I'm saying is, when looking into what is causing your lag, also look at your processor. :)

Neasha, what processor did you have before, and what do you have now? Have you checked the games rating of your hardware before and after the upgrade of processor, and if so, how big is the difference in score?
