Lifetime Wishes in CAS
« on: January 13, 2013, 03:38:30 PM »
I just reinstalled Sims on my new computer, and went into CAS.

Every other tab/dropdown works, except for the lifetime wishes - the suggested options are completely blank, as is the window for the full list. Has anyone experienced this before? How to fix?

Thanks!

Do you have mods installed?  Any CC?  You're fully patched up to 1.47?  Did you move files over from a previous installation or are you starting fresh?

Try hitting the choose traits button and then closing it to see if something will pop up.

No mods or CC, and fully patched. I didn't move anything - I have a PC, used to have a mac, so I figured the files wouldn't be compatible anyway.

I've tried refreshing the traits, rebooting the game, and left the screen after selecting traits hoping the LTW panel will load. I'm really confused, this has never happened before.

Everything else seems to work fine in-game - I played for a couple sim days just to check.

Most files, saves/packages/sims3files, are compatible between the two just so you know.  Just have to find a way to move them over.

There is a Thumbnails folder in the Sims 3 folder.  (Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Thumbnails)  Go ahead and delete all three of those.  I would also suggest clearing out your cache files as well as the DCBackup (all but ccmerged.package file).

Restart the computer and see how it does.

No go - I deleted my neighborhood, quit, deleted all of two files that were in my cache, cleared the other two, restarted. It's blank still, and won't update/appear even if I play around with the traits.

Unfortunately, CAS won't let me just create a sim without a lifetime wish - if that were possible , I could just add it using cheats afterwards, I guess? Can you (or anyone else) think of a feasible workaround??

Thanks so much for reading and responding so quickly, by the way!!

Have you tried making new game files and creating Sims there?

Pam, I'm going to try that now, although I'm not sure why that would make a difference. As of right now, there's absolutely nothing in my game except the one SV I keep recreating to check if CAH/CAS works each time. My files are completely clean anyway, but I guess it's worth giving it a shot :)

If it's the same game file you're using over and over, it could be a corrupt file that you're seeing.  We can test this by starting a new game at the opening screen.  If it still does it, then it's not the file.  However, many times just the one specific file has a problem and you can play a different one just fine, including the set up in CAS.

That's why I was deleting that file and starting a new one each time.

It seems to work today, however - I'm not sure what caused the change. With any luck, it lasts! Or maybe I should create both my challenge file sims right now while I still can  :P
