Ugly Simbots, Aliens, Vampires, Warewolves & Plant Sims, OH MY!

I have searched for a way to improve on her appearance, and I have not found one. So far, tried the salon, the mirror, the dresser drawers.
Also, the sims in her life are deeply offended my her smell, appearantly. If they don't need hygiene, then what's the solution to this? One of the sims in the household is 'best friends' (per LTB) and the other and she are 'good friends'. They still go into simbot shock when she passes by.
Both of my simbot's sim housemates are 10 pt handiness skill. But neither of them have worked on their inventor skill. Do I need to be an inventor to improve the simbot that came to my sims stinky and ugly???

Sorry, the appearance of the simbot cannot be changed, but there are different possible colours of them (you can't choose between them, but still) when they are built. Simbots purchased through the LTR "My Best Friend" comes with a little rusty tone; this can also not be changed. I think they look great as it is.

As per the "stinky" part: The other sims don't think she smells bad, but they get an interaction indicated as "Simbot!". This is similar to sims' responses to mummies ("Mummy!") and ghosts ("Ghost!"). This can also not be changed; it's the normal response when a sim encounters something super-natural.

Sorry I couldn't help more, but you can't change any of these. If it feels better, I believe you get used to it. I don't even think of this when I play my simbot anymore.

Swede is right.  All this is just what comes as part of a Simbot or other non-Sim life form.  And it can't be changed.  This is a good part of the reason why I don't usually play the supernatural form.  The reactions from regular Sims really annoys me and I get tired of it, unlike Swede who just gets used to it.

I agree with you Pam.  I've seen the simbots and I'm not interested.  I too think they are ugly, but at least they have 2 eyes, unlike the servos in sims 2 who had one large eye in the middle of their head.  

I never saw the need for supernaturals in my sims games...glad some ppl like them.

I'm another one who doesn't understand the appeal of simbots.  To me, they are just another member of the household whose needs and wishes I have to manage.  If I want another character in the household, I'd rather do it in Create-a-sim, where I have control over their appearance and traits.

Agreed, Simbots are not something I wish to explore any further. She is my first and last. Thanks everyone for the input..

Simbots that you invent yourself, I'm almost positive turn up a lot better looking that ones you spend life time points on. And you can use the life time points you DON'T spend getting a Simbot to change it's traits and favorites. That's what I did to my Simbot Well actually I cheated to change his traits but that doesn't matter.

Funny, I thought that I was the only one who doesn't care for the other life forms. I don't see the big deal with the Simbots either. They don't interest me at all. Like said already they are just another family member to care for I would rather just have one of my Sims have a baby. I like the babies and toddlers!

So far, I am indifferent about exploring ghosts, my only use for them is taking pictures or fulfilling wants.
I did not explore vampires much or werewolves at all in TS2. Mummies are a pain in my behind, and a curse really botched up a good story line for me. I am sure we will see the vampires and werewolves in future expansion packs. I am willing to explore whatever they add to the game.
What I really do miss are the aliens. Specifically the Curious brothers and their offspring.
The Simbot of discussion in the original post may be finding other residence this evening. I'm so over her.

That's what I miss most, too.  I had a light purple skin for my aliens in TS2, that also modified the alien features.  Every time I started a new neighbourhood I made sure that the main family had at least one alien child in every generation to get plenty of aliens into my neighbourhoods.

Back on topic, I was hoping that since TS3 was supposed to be before TS1 that the TS3 robots would be more like the TS1 robots, who weren't playable characters.  They were more like household appliances.  Your sim would activate it and it would go around cleaning and gardening, then return to its station when done.

I remember how I always wished for it to be like that with my Servos in TS2.  It felt annoying to always have to control them like a normal sim, and it wasn't much else I could do with them but have them clean, cook, garden, babysit etc. and much of the time, they had nothing to do! So I just deactivated them a lot of the time and then reactivated them when they had things to do again.
I'm guessing the case would be the same for TS3 SimBots.

Unfortunately, there's no way that I know of to deactivate SimBots.  The closest you'd get would be to short them out when you don't need them and repair them when you do.

Lock them in the Basement Inventing... That's what I do!  Anyway they can be a bit annoying with nothing to do so, get needs up, invent to find Time Machine, Make Many_Time Machines is clicked, and they spend the next five years making two Time Machines!

Agreed!  Wish we had aliens, and wish Simbots were more like Servos!

The only other supernatural lifeform I liked in Sims 2 was Vampires.  I had a bunch of them in a Legacy back in the day.  I liked how you could make your regular sims into Vampires, how they slept during the day in their coffins, etc.

My Simbot searches the galaxy with the telescope, and he earns quite a lot of money.
Some stars worth more than 8,000!
If it wasn't him (and my painter that earned more than 400,000 in his life) my sims wouldn't enjoy their lives in the luxury mansion I built for them!
