I can't wait to find out more about the mermaids. I don't have time to scroll through the entire discussion but from what I've seen they sound really cool and I hope that time flies and Island Paradise comes out soon!

How do they WALK? Or will it be like Red Dwarf and the upper half is the fish one?

According to this tweet mermaid is something a Sim can transform into so I assume similar to a Werewolf but they'd have to transform in the sea or something. Otherwise we'll have beached Sim epidemics..

Edit: Hmm...I do wonder what new collectibles and harvest ables there will be.  Certainly seashells, and treasures from dive sites, but I wonder what new plants there might be, and how they would fit into new and current recipes.  Being a tropical island, I thinks its about time we got oranges and pineapples.  Then we could have like..pineapple upside down cake.

I saw a photo of the limited edition stuff on facebook, and in the picture was a sim climbing a ladder. I wonder if that means the ladder is only with limited edition, or if it is included in the main game too.

Didn't they talk about the ladder in the live broadcast, in relation to building houseboats?

There is a ladder in the game coming.  They confirmed it in the last live broadcast.  No limited edition required.

I saw a photo a day or so ago of the things in the limited edition and there was a ladder there. I'll see if I can find it again.

Something I was just wondering, can our sims own and operate more than one resort?  It's something in comparison to owning a venue that will be interesting to see how it works out.

More information due to come soon on Mermaids - so says SimGuruSarah.  But she did release these two tidbits.

--They have tails in the water and the females wear seashell bras! We'll be releasing more info on Mermaids in the coming weeks!
--There are male Mermaids, however, for simplicity we refer to both genders as "Mermaid"

You can still refer to them as Mermen in stories. Although technically the life state name should be Merpeople.

Well, I believe that Mersims sounds better, and after Plantsims I think it's more likely to happen (unless they are called plantpeople by EA).
