University would be good if it means we can start half way up the career ladder for certain careers. It would be nice if it has more options that sims 2 - so we can major and minor in particular subjects, and what subjects our sims take effects how far up the career ladder they can start in different careers.

Edit: From the announcement:

The Sims 3 University Life opens a new chapter for young adult to elder Sims and anyone in between. Once a Sim is enrolled in university, they will pick from one of six majors and work towards earning a degree. From class activities to major-specific objects, The Sims 3 University Life will poise Sims for multiple benefits in their careers, including accelerated pay, higher career entry, new opportunities and more.

So that answers that :D

There is another thread about University.  Please leave all talk of University in that thread.  Thank you.

I'm really looking forward to this expansion pack. The idea of houseboats is enough to get me excited. I've always loved the idea of living on the ocean.

I'm curious about 'running a resort' and what that could mean. I love the idea of it though, I was tempted by Sunlit Tides, but it didn't seem good value to buy just a 'world' like that, expansions are much better value for money I think.

Oh, whoops, sorry Rica. I thought this one addressed both, since it was mentioned in the first post.

I'd be guessing, but it could be like owning a building or venue perhaps?

Also, in the live broadcast, Ryan said that for the first time ever, Sims will be going underwater with the new scuba diving skill. I'm also assuming there will be a new world comeing with Island Paradise, as he was talking about a series of islands that are connected by nothing but water.

They said in the broadcast that you could build and run a resort. You'd be making decisions that affect the popularity of the resort, and how much money is made by it. I think it could include things like deciding how much it costs to stay in a room per night, and other stuff like that. What I'm curious about, is whether we'd be making all the rooms ourselves, or would it be more like a rabbithole.

It could be like how their putting across the dorm rooms in university. From the trailer for university, you seem to be able to customise what is already built. My bet the resorts are like that.

I hope that theres a new world coming with this expansion pack. I wouldn't be suprised if there was because of the way they describe the  'bungalows on the water and houseboats. Other than Sunlit Tides, I can't really think of a town that would suit that kind of description.

I wonder if we would be allowed to build our own islands, from scratch. That would be something.
Or better yet: buy them. It would be a great money dump, though slightly unlikely to happen.

They almost always include a new world with an expansion (exceptions: Generations and Seasons) and this one is so drastically from everything else with a literally world-changing set-up, I think they would have to include a world with it.

Most worlds have water though, twinbrook the lake, riverview the river, sunset valley the ocean etc. It would be quite easy I'd imagine to incorporate houseboats into that. As for the islands, maybe they're like travelling, and that they are an almost seperate world, where there are resorts instead of base camps.

For the Islands I suspect they will be similar to Sunlit Tides. Where some islands are only accessed by swimming to them, which you could only do once the Seasons patch came out. If you can travel using these boats, like cars then I bet there are docks on each of the island so instead of roads there would be a water transport system.

This EP sounds really interesting, although there just doesn't seem like there is much content in it yet. Although it's only vaguely announced so I can't complain yet. :P

Wait till winter, my respected western island neighbour, than you could walk to the nearest island. I did the same with you in real life but you weren't at home so I'll try next year.
I am unsure if this would be possible, but it certainly be fun.

Hack, imagine investing in Titanic size boats, which you can upgrade and rent to the pioneers of Sims towns. That would be a good money dump.
A challenge could be buying out all ships out there, or upgrading a millionaire boat, like my Castle Costalot, but than 'floatable.'
