Expansion Disc
« on: January 09, 2013, 02:36:29 AM »
My PC can't read the disc of Supernatural, I've tried many times ejecting and re-inserting it to the PC and it won't read, so I concluded that the disc is broken, the games seems to be able to recognize the latest Ep installed, so since Supernaturals is my latest Ep, inserting the Pets disc won't launch the game. I don't want to resort to the No-Disc mod yet, and it'll be a while before I get Seasons. So, is there a way to use a another expansion's disc to run the game? Or will I really have to resort to using the mod?

A few times people have been looking for help because their driver doesn't read your Sims 3 cd. It's absolutely not necessary to buy a new cd! If you use the following method everything should be fine:

1. Insert the Sims 3 cd (WA, Ambitions, HELS etc. It depends on what you want to install or play)
2. Your E: (for some people their D:) may say something like 0mb of ...mb available.
3. Manually open (no autorun) the cd and copy (no cutting!) all files on the cd.
4. Paste the files in your C: drive. You may want to make a special folder for it.
5. Run setup from the C: drive and follow the instructions.
6. It may take a while before the setup starts. This does not mean it doesn't work!
7. If it doesn't come up you can try again. You can also press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and view the current processes to see if something like Sims 3 or EA is running.

Does it have to be the C drive? My driver's is almost full.

That list actually comes from this thread. I'd suggest you look through it since I don't know the answer. Good luck!

What exactly happens when you try to run the game with your Supernatural disk?  What message do you get?  Have you tried re-installing the game?

My PC won't read the disc, it won't show up in My Computers.

Is the disc itself scratched or dirty?

It's not scratched nor dirty, and my drive can read my other discs, just not Supernatural.

That is a conundrum. Have you tried bringing up the task manager to see if anything is registering?

That's not an option, my version of windows (WP7 HB) can't use the task manager and I have to mess with a file to open it, but I don't want to risk my PC.

What exactly are the specs for your computer?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz
VGA nVIDIA GeForce G 310M VRAM:512 mb
Memory 2GB
ASUS X8AI

the specs are from the sticker that shows the specs.

I'm deciding whether using a crack is more convenient, since it's legal here where I live.

Well, I'm not entirely sure, but you may not have enough ram. I'll do some researching and get back to you here in a couple minutes or so.

Another thing you might be able to do is download a crash analyser. This one will help you determine if the graphics card will support what you already have.

Oookay, I have insufficient RAM, Idid read from the IGN review that Supernaturals require a lot of RAM. But why can't it read my disc?
