To begin building your entry, you must open a world, it can be a new world or an existing file. As long as you use edit town to build the house rather than moving a sim in it doesn't really matter. On opening your selected world you will be met with this screen if it is a new world:
To open Edit Town you need to access the menu using the "
..." button, then select the option that says Edit Town, the edit town options will then appear.
Select the lot that you wish to begin building on, ensure that it meets the
Lot Size specifications for the contest you are entering.
To edit the lot you will need to click the button that shows the saw and the paint roller. You will then gain access to the lot and
Buildmode and Buymode.
Then you can build your house, making sure to meet all criteria and specifications, build until there's no more budget or nothing left to add! Make those final touches and checks that everything is done and you truly are finished building. This is my example entry that I made quickly for example purposes.
When you exit back to Edit Town, select your lot and you should see that the thumbnail for your lot has changed to show an image of your lot. However you still need to edit the details of your entry, the entry needs a name and a description. Select the button which looks like a pen writing on paper, this opens a window to edit these details.
Now you are ready to share your entry, the term "
share" means to upload. If we were uploading to the Official Exchange we would use the launcher but for this forum we won't and that method will be covered in another tutorial. Have the lot menu open, select the button with a symbol that looks like an arrow pointing to an asterix, the symbol for custom content in The Sims 3. You will have another chance to edit the details of your lot, if you hadn't done so already. It will then begin to process the entry for uploading, after a few minutes it should give the message in the fourth image, if it is a small entry and is taking a long time there is a chance it will have crashed. It may be advisable to save the lot to your library before uploading, to do so click the button which has the arrow going into an open folder.
Whilst still in the game you should also make a note of the Lot Size, Content and Price. Content will have to be observed manually by your own eyes and memory of what you used. The Lot Details will tell you the other information. When noting the price of your lot use the copy of your lot that has been saved to your library, on uploading a lot a copy will automatically be placed there. Use the price there as it only takes into account the items and content on the lot and not the value of the lot it's placed on. For example the base value of a 20x30 lot can vary from a beach position to a more suburban lot, this was decided by the creators of the world in the Create a World software. | |
