Nectar making, why is this the "best" recipe?

I was reading through the assorted nectar pages in the guide and something struck me.

The "best" (most valuable) nectar recipe is 9 Lift fruit, 1 Pomegranate.

Due to the internal magic of the system, it's worth more than 10 life fruit.

I don't understand why this works out to be the best? I mean, why not the 10 life fruit, 1 Flame Fruit. Or one of the special grapes. Or even a Pomelo. Why do you have to go more than halfway down the list before you hit the "best" single fruit to mix with 9 LF? Once you go past this magic combo, the other top blends seem to make more sense.

I know much of the dissection of the code is speculative, but, I thought I would ask.

Individual Fruit values (as per the Guide):
Life Fruit: 40
Flame Fruit: 32.6
Cranerlet Nuala Grapes: 29.1
Gralladina Fran Grapes: 21.7
Pomelo: 21.7
Meloire Grapes: 18.1
Cherry: 16.3
Avornalino Grapes: 14.5
Plum: 12.7
Lime: 12.7
Watermelon: 12.7
Pomegranate: 10.9
Cherimola Blan Grapes: 9.1
Renoit Grapes: 9.0
Apple: 5.4
Grapes: 5.4

I doubt anyone will be able to provide you with a solid reason as to why that recipe turned out to be the money-making king for nectar making. It just is. It's an element of randomness that EA added to determine final value and it's pretty cool.

Well, the Pomegranate is most popularly associated with Persephone, Queen of the Underworld.

So the best nectar is made up from the Fruit of Life, with just a touch of Death.

This means something.

Or not.
