Professor Digory Kirke was a wise, elderly gentleman. His days of living in luxury were behind him, but that didn't bother him. He had lived a full and enjoyable life. A particularly fond memory was being witness to the creation of a magical world, Narnia, with his friend Polly. He remained friends with his childhood neighbor as well as three of the Pevensie children (Peter, Edmund and Lucy), and Eustance and Jill who had recently discovered Narnia.
These seven had just finished one of their regular "meetings". They considered themselves friends of Narnia, and gathered to talk over their adventures, and what they had learned during their time in the magical kingdom. The group had parted ways, and Digory took a stroll through his garden.
He felt a strange feeling come over him, like he was different. Not human even. When Digory looked around he realised he was somewhere he had never been before. It was almost, unreal. His heart soared, was he really back in Narnia? There was a waterfall, but it was different somehow to the one in Narnia.
A deep roar resounded from behind him. Digory turned and saw a cat. A cat that was strangely familiar to him. In this unfamiliar world it was reassuring to see something familiar. Could it be...? "Aslan?"
"Yes, Digory son of Adam, it is I." a deep, almost roar like voice replied. Most people would be looking around for the owner of the voice, surely a cat couldn't talk? But Digory knew better.
"This may be rude to point out, but you are a cat?" Digory spoke in a respectful tone - after all, Aslan was the true King of Narnia in every sense of the word, for he was mostly seen as a lion.
The cat snorted, then managed a reply. "And you are what is known as a Sim."
"So this is not Narnia then?" Digory's voice was deflated. He had always hoped he would return someday.
"No my friend." Aslan sounded as sad as Digory. "Narnia is in danger, and where we are is a place that may be able to help."
"Then tell me Aslan, what is to be done? I'll get the others and..."
"You can't contact the other friends of Narnia. You see, if you don't help, they may cease to exist, and Narnia with them."
"Again I say, tell me what to do."
"Very well." And so Aslan began the explanation of an Immortal Dynasty - 8 Immortals, of the same bloodline completing their tasks. "Wait, eight?" Digory interrupted.
"Yes. Susan as well. All eight are needed." Digory nodded and allowed Aslan to continue.
"The official rules are contained on this tablet." An iPad looking thing appeared in Digory's hands. Being of an era where computers were not invented, it was foreign to him. "You will have what some Sims call a Watcher, a human who will guide you through the task. She can provide communication back to the Friends of Narnia. They will be told of your task."
Digory nodded, even as an elderly Professor, it was a lot to take in.
"I have additional conditions. All Narnian Immortals must either be Brave or Good. They can be both, but only one is necessary. They must also be animal lovers. They can love all animals or just dogs, cats or horses. And you, my dear Digory will be a witch."
"Aren't witches evil?" Digory asked.
"And female?" he added silently to himself.
"They can be. But not all. There are magicians in this world too, but are harmless. Witches have power which, if used wisely, will help future generations and allow the task to be completed. You will not be left alone, you will find a friend when you reach your new home."
"Before we go, tell me more about where I am." Digory, while keen to start, knew knowledge was power, a power far greater than that of any witch.
"Ah, very wise. We are in Union Cove. A world created by Watchers from all over the world. It's citizens from Immortal Dynasties, celebrities and forum members in their Sim form. You will find many would will help you on your quest. It's the closest to Narnia that the Sims has. When you arrive, you will find yourself younger than you are now. Right, are you ready?"
Digory nodded and braced himself for what was to come.
