Thanks to everyone who reported the spam.  From what I can see, the spam was on the Forum for only about 20 minutes.  That is an awesomely short time!  We really do have fantastic moderators and members.

Yup, it lasted just 10-15 minutes. I don't understand why the people who do that do it here?! This is a forum just for discussing the game, not spamming and advertising. Mods are indeed awesome! Thanks guys!! :)

Well, sometimes they just don't care what kind of forum it is.  They're going to spam their stuff anywhere they can.  Other times, they might even do it because of how we are, just to cause trouble.  The best thing everyone can do is report it, then ignore it and let the moderators handle it.  That's pretty much what everyone does and it works out ok.  :)

We do our best, absolutely but I must say that I rarely encounter any post. Probably the other 'pitbulls' around here are speeding me out because I have found 4 posts myself since the time I became a moderator. Or wait, the first one was before that, the other three where just a few weeks ago.
The only thing I still don't understand and probably never will do is why people are posting advertising stuff on forums like this as it will get deleted right away. The reason for advertisment is to drag attention to the product that has to be selled, but the trouble on posting it here isn't worth the outcome of it: deletion.

Maybe there are other forums that aren't moderated as carefully and the spammers get to have their stuff up for a longer time?  Hopefully our quick response will discourage these vermin from coming back here!

Schipperke has a good point about other forums not being as closely moderated as ours.  Spammers are their own breed of nuisance.  They don't care what kind of forum it is.  They don't care if they offend anyone.  They spend hours and hours just hunting for places to post their spam.  It's just what they do and we'll never get rid of it.  That's why I hire more moderators as the Forum grows.  We have the manpower to keep this Forum clean and safe.

Yes and no. No, because in my personal experience it is more about removing them quick, and all you need for that is just one moderator or administrator.
But yes, because I once was doubting if someone was posting spam or not so I have to report him just in case. Later on I find out is was not spam so I have reported that also so nothing would happen to that guy, but it was just a boy being pretty young in combination of me reading his post wrong. Therefore I personally like to know in what age catagory people belong, so I try to remember that to adjust my reaction to their posts, if you know what I mean.

I still think it's about teamwork a bit too - if the forum members neglected spam and never reported it, some may go unnoticed for a time.
I like to think I'm helping when I report spam anyway :)

Oh so! Yes, that is absolutely true. In that case teamwork is all that's important.

I agree with you, Alexandria. Even moderators can't view all updated topics at once. They're not robots. :) And maybe the so called 'spam topic' will be viewed the last by them, so it won't get noticed, but, other members help them to notice it faster by reporting. Still, our moderators are the best ever! :D

Also, the faster it gets noticed by moderators, the less work it would require to get it fixed.  If it wasn't reported by members, it's entirely possible that it could go unnoticed for even longer before the accounts responsible get banned...resulting in even more spam to clean up.  And banning the spammer accounts is the only permanent fix to the problem.

I just wanted to say that whichever moderator removed the most recent rude comments/spam was extremely quick. It was gone within less than a minute!

Thank you for being such great moderators!
