Today's spam attack was handled by mtglady, gerrr00, and Schipperke.  All three of them were working diligently to get the posters banned and all the posts removed.  The total number of spam posts was nearly 40!  These ladies did a fantastic job of getting those folks out of here quickly (there were two posters).  I'm very proud.  :D

40 posts wow! I got an email to say a thread had been posted to and went to check it out straight away and was confronted with it. I reported it straight away and also sent a PM to Schipp. Then I noticed the posters name as being the last poster on several threads so I went to their profile to report them all and they had about 20 posts, but by the time I got to the first one it and all the rest were already gone.. well done ladies in getting it cleaned up so fast.

In terms of Leto's question about legal options- you can file a complaint with the FBI/NW3C by going to the Internet Crime Complaint center at http://www.ic3.gov.  You can do this as long as any member of the crime (such as any member of the site) is a US citizen.  Although they focus mostly on internet scams and white collar, the center itself just forwards complaints to the appropriate authorities, who then decide whether or not to pursue the case.  In this case, it's some sort cyber bullying or indecent exposure, so there is a chance that there may be a law against it in the poster's place of origin, but it's not as serious as a lot of internet crimes, so it may be ignored.  Personally, I doubt that it would be investigated or resolved, but it certainly won't hurt anything to try.  If nothing else, it may begin a paper trail against the person at the source of the spam, which could someday add up.

Ok, that "person" really made me mad. Simstar is 12 years old and it posted THAT on her thread. I am literally shaking. I'm gonna go calm down, I definitely did my reporting duty today. Stupid people make me sick. I hope I got to it before Simstar or any other kids saw that.
Eh? What happened? ???

The spammers are sad losers who are so desperate for attention they have to go around posting puerile nonsense.  They are sad losers who lack the imagination to find something better to do with their time.  My bet would be that they hung around checking the forum hoping to find reactions to their posts.  Let's not give it to them.  This forum and the good people who come here have already moved on.  The sad losers who posted the spam will likely never move on.

Thanks ladies!  You are super heroes, and we love you for it.

My kid visits here, fortunately we come together, I do the reading, and we aren't on late.

Again---I am so grateful for the safe, warm, caring environment of this forum, and feel outraged that anyone would violate that which we all hold so dear.

I'll check the Canadian laws on this tomorrow if no other Canadian/Ontarian does (almost time to meet real life school bus).  Laws regarding children are fairly strict here, and if nothing else it starts a paper trail for later conviction.  I think this is the forum where they should expect us to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. I hope the perpetrator wasn't Canadian (if so: I'm a stay at home mom, with time to track them down to their lair, and ummmm, mess with their recycle bin, and have them pay very hefty environmental fines???)

Thanks again ladies for foiling the forum St.Valentines Day massacre.
