I was anxious to get Barnacle Bay because for some reason I imagine it as tropical island. Now, I'm disappointed. I would really like tropical paradise as a world. Egypt is not that, it's a desert with few palm trees. I loved Tikkii Island in Sims2, and Sims Castaway. The only thing left for me is to dive in CAW and created it by myself!

How about Hot Ballooning. You know when you look up and the balloon is in the air also bird watching as a skill or an addition to collecting you could also add to that things like bird bath's and bird feeder's.

That's a good idea... Probably to the pets expansion, I think. Well, I don't know about the balloon, but birds as collectables is a nice thing.
The bird houses and bird feeders could have a chance to spawn a random bird a time of the day, and you could try and register it or even catch it... hm...

Actually, the bird bath idea gave me a idea...Mom's made a few new 'friends' in the form of a turkey colony that has been visiting-and sometimes staying- in our yard. She tosses out cracked corn and stale bread for them, and now they've gotten pretty use to our scheduals...

If the next expansion is animals, and they include wild ones, it would be cool if birds like canaries and pigeons and finches were catchable, or at least you could attract them to your yard with food or items. Depending on the food, or if stuff like trash was left out, other animals could also be attracted, like raccoons, possum, skunks, bears, and deer. Deer could be a nusiance for gardens with short fences, skunks could spray people and pets, bears are incredibly scary, and possum and raccoons could be aggressive or submissive to dogs and cats.

Also, I read about pet's personalities on the Sim wiki, and it would be nice if those were extended, to things like Nice, Mean, Shy, Naughty, Naive...So on and so forth. Finally, it would be nice if there was a shelter or pound, to adopt premade or randomized animals instead of making your own. This could also give a bonus to 'Good' sims. Of course, pets from the pound might have negative traits, from being in negative homes...But a 'retraining' happiness points award, or a special training area for pets and owners, could take care of these bad traits, and gives you the ability to pick different traits for your pets, acting like the happiness points reward "Midlife Crisis" dose.

All this (mostly) was in sims 1 Unleashed. You adopted your pets (cats and dogs), and you had to train them. If they piddled in-doors you could 'punish' them and train them not to do it (don't worry, punishing them involved a stern talking to and the dog/cat looking degected). Also the cool thing was you had to punish them within a certain time frame of them piddling, otherwise the training wouldn't work. There was also downtown areas where you could take your pets for training lessons, as well as entering them into shows, like Crufts. Plus the downtown locations had pet-playgrounds (slides and stuff), along with food bowls and beds for your pets.

I didnt know that, heh. However, I though you could make pets in Sims 2, so I assumed there was no shelter.

Oh my, I had almost forgotten about that in the sims1, I thought that was the neatest thing.  I still am not too keen about pets, unless they do something different than in sims2.  I don't want to have to control them, just play and feed them.  Still holding out for weather though. ;D

We need carnivals in town. (This can be an add-on to seasons, as carnivals can come in certain times.)

That'd be awesome! You could play carnival games, go on rides, win prizes, eat food...
I agree, sydney, we need carnivals! ;D

Alright some followups.
If your going to make birds that interactive to the point where you could attract them to your lawn would it or would it not make sense to add a scarecrow factor to the gardening factor of the game.

Also for the carnival would we be expecting being able to work there or some opportunities for it or just a place you go to for an extra fun bar?

I don't know if anybody had my idea/desire, but I really want university. I mean, badly. Improved than Sims 2 University, of course. Party all night, more persons, university without rabbit hole. The classroom may be rabbit hole, but the sim has to change the classroom everytime, you know what I mean :)

Background: I was a Sims 2 addict up until the Pets Expansion. I never played Seasons, Apartment Life, or Vacations (and all my Sims 2 disks are gone now... so there's no going back to Sims 2). A lot of the things I want in Sims 3 are a few things that were already available in Sims 2 & the EPs I played:

A handful of romance features including:
- Slow Dancing ! ! ! !
- The ability to dine and date inside a restaurant that's not a rabbit hole. Romantic table interactions like they had in NightLife... holding hands across the table, surprise proposals, etc.
- The ability to give gifts to Sims. Like that fancy diamond from Egypt you had specially cut. Should create a positive moodlet for the Sim who receives the gift based on the value of the object.
- Better weddings! A wedding arch, and the ability for guests to SIT DOWN during the ceremony

I want the ability for a non-played character to *initiate* more romantic gestures. For example, if the relationship is high enough, I would like my Sims' BF that I am not playing to be able to spontaneously propose to my Sim. (Have you noticed when you're playing a female, she has to initiate all the romance! Including the woohoo... lol)

I also miss the ability to own and set up a store like one could in Open for Business... although I just have started really exploring the Ambitions EP so maybe the "self employment" aspect will be sufficient.

You should be able to set a Sims least favorite food. I mean, what are the chances of a Sim liking every single food in the game?

There are lots of things I would like to see, some of them coming over from sims 1 (I never played 2). And yes, I do realise that sims 3 is a different game, and I think it's fantastic, but some things like eating in a restaurant that is not a rabbit hole. If they could do it in 1 they can do it in 3! However instead of it being a repeat of sims 1, they should give the restaurant a sims 3 feel to it - I want my sims to play footsies again under the table at the corner booth!  :D

At the end of the day, however, the sims 3 is a different game to 1 and 2 and I'm sure EA have their reasons as to why, say, restaurants are not rabbit holes. Having a seamless world may pose programming and/or memory/chache, etc problems. However there is one thing that I am very dissapointed in EA and that I wish they would do more of, and that is Accessories! I mean, how many of you have dressed your sim in a gorgeous evening dress and no necklace to go with it (I've used the WA's one to death), or be able to dress your sim up in bling. So for me, the one improvement that is a must is more accessories!
