I hate having my Sims live in squalor when they're just starting out and unable to afford a decent shower, stove, bed, etc.  But I also would prefer not to use cheats if I can avoid it.  I sometimes use the Motherlode to help my Sim out at the beginning, but I never feel good about cheating and wish there was a way for Sims to borrow money and repay it, possibly with a little interest.

That's not a bad idea! Maybe from the business center?

I'd like to see a few more after-school classes (for Generations) for kids and teens.

From the business center, that would work!  I could just see it:  in order to be approved for a loan, you have to make friends with Nick Alto.  Maybe bribe him in some way.  And if you don't keep up with your payments, Repo will come and repossess something.  Yeah, I think that would be fun.

Repo Man, if you're borrowing from the business, but you should be able to take out a higher loan with the criminals. If you don't pay up, you get more burglaries until you've coughed up the dough.  Burglar Alarms? Forgetta bout it!

Oh yeah, I like these ideas!  And while we're on the subject of money in the game, it would be nice to be able to give money to other Sims (not just donating to charity through the mailbox).  You could give an allowance to your kids, give money to someone needy, bribe your boss to get a raise, maybe pay "protection" money to the criminals to keep from getting burglarized.

I like your ideas Schipperke. I am often in the same boat as you. I don't like to use cheats but hate the cheap shower and stove!

Your new Sims don't have to be totally poor!  Just get rid of the extra stuff the game puts in the houses that they consider decorative, like the phones on the walls and tables that no one ever uses!
Sell off the trees on your lots get rid of everything except the most basic of basics and you soon have enough cash for that better shower and stove.  I guess it's sort of a cheat because you DO have to have testingcheatsenabled on, but if you go into map view, go to a lot that has abandoned cars on it and hold down shift and click on the lot, you can then buy or build on that lot.  The purpose isn't for buying or building but for hammering those vehicles, which then puts the cash from them in YOUR wallet.  Way to be a klepto without being a klepto.  Or maybe you are just being your own personal version of loan shark.  lol

If there was a loan service maybe there could be a bank. I to wish you could give Sims money, it would like a gift, just giving money instead of an item. Maybe you could ask another Sim for a loan.

I'd personally love to see groups of performing sims, Singers accompanied by bands, Acrobats and Magicians interacting possibly.

Joria, I always sell everything except the essentials and money is still tight for the first couple of weeks, when Sims aren't earning much yet.  But I never thought of the cars!  That's really clever!  How on earth did you think of it?  :D

Schipp, if you place a parking space, turn on MOO, and invite a rich sim over, they will park their car on your lot, and then you can sell it! You don't even need to move them in! Surely that doesn't count as cheating on a challenge - there are already so many ways to make fast money.

Selling your friends' cars?!  I'm beginning to think the main problem my poor Sims have is being stuck with a controller (me) who is either too honest or too stupid to think of these tricks - or possibly both of the above.  ::)

I am by no means honest when it comes to how I treat My Sim's Friends. I made a house of 4 Kleptos (All P.I's), and a 5th sim who was Mega Friendly. I invited the Altos to stay on my lot, and locked them in while the four klepto P.I's  robbed them. I then sent them home after all Needs related objects were gone   ;)

This gave me a totally brilliant yet unrelated idea of traits interacting, like Neurotic Sims who were natural cooks would cook all the time, autonomously, regardless of needs, yet do it very well

In the third attempt of my immortal dynasty, I learned the value of the coffee machine in the game before I got rich and bought Super Sleepers for everyone. Which led me to think of these ideas:

- A travel mug. I hated sending out one of my roommates to look for love and have his coffee buzz end with no source of coffee off the lot. A travel mug would help. Fill it up, or fill several up with coffee and avoid the effects on tiredness without having to go back to your lot for another drink.

- Drinking coffee while standing up. You're trying to fulfill dynasty requirements; there isn't time for sitting down to a cup of coffee! Maybe they can actually do it and it was because I had a seat on my lot, but the whole sitting down thing was a bit of a time sucker.

You are not the only one! Perhaps this is the problem my sims have as well. I like to do things the honest way and I don't like to do those kind of things. But taking out a loan and paying it back with interest would be a very honest way of dealing with this. So I still really like your idea! And I had no idea you could sell someone else's car if they parked it on your lot that seems strange!
