I can't imagine that even real life elders who don't care about their appearance much would want to wear those clothes. I think we could use a Children and Elders stuff pack.

Elder sims not having clothing choice is what makes me unable to play them much. So much ugly clothing, and because it's a different body type to YA/A, while you can use cheat programs to allow elders to wear YA/A clothing that comes with stuff packs and Expansions, it ends up making them look a little weird. *sigh*

The main thing I hate about the elders is the slouchy look.  It's a bit better when you use the southern gentlemen walk with the cane from generations, but then that just makes them look weird, not ugly, weird.  I mean, the slouchy no muscle look kind of fits with an immortal dynasty, I mean, come on, you have to give them some credit, they're immortal.  But for normal gameplay, Bleh!  It's exactly why if I'm not playing seriously that I age them up as soon as they turn elder... kind of cruel, I know.  But hey, there's other things to do if you get tired of playing your sim...  Back on Topic.  What I think is kind of weird, is that the elders can't dress normal, but they can do just about all the things that normal sims can do.  Personally, I don't like seing my skinny slouching elder getting caught by a fire trap in a tomb, being blasted by water(Ok that would be kind of fun in real life.) and having darts hurled at them.  Though once, I think that one of my elders who worked out pretty much for a living( she was in the sports career.)  kept just a hint of muscle, it honestly made her look better.  And if you color their hair the same color that it was you can barely notice it.  Except for their slouching and horrible clothes, but hey, when their doing kong fu, it can really fool your eyes. And if you don't look to closely, you can't see the wrinkles.  But yes, I think EA should at least add a slouching slider.  I mean sure, they added the age freeze and young again potion, but come on EA, that's barely a substitute.
EAT COOKIES.  You'll like them!

I want something simple.  I am an elderly lady, 73 at the moment.  I would not be caught DEAD OR ALIVE in those hideous outfits they have for the elderly!  They are outrageous and so limiting!  Sure you can recolor, but recoloring bad taste is still bad taste with a better design on it.  What makes them think we oldsters want to look like Hagitha?  I want jeans that fit, not some baggy raggy pants that shine.  UGH!  I want t-shirts and denim shirts and evening wear that is attractive and not all showing skinny bones or saggy fat because it is inappropriate for the body.  AND I want better bodies for the elderly!  We don't all walk hunched over and shuffling our feet.  Some of us run marathons and enter decathlon events and Iron Men challenges, (not Olympic level but still....). There is currently a very attractive older man in the equestrian events in the Olympics riding an older, (16 yr old horse).  You get adorable clothes for the teens and YA, then a little less adorable for the Adult and positively hideous for the elders.  NOT FAIR.  It's elder abuse.  So, all I want is some decent threads for those poor old Sims.

Yeah, that's why I have to go to websites for elderly clothes, because even I, as a YA, won't wear those clothes as an elder. ;D And I hate having to do so, because it's wasting disk space for the game, ya know. It's fine for TS2, because TS2 has such limited vairity, and I always needed CC for haircolor, and fake colored Sims like orange, for fake orange tan, (as long as the Sims and faces look like EA/Maxis faces!), and TS2 is less complex. But TS3 is very complex and memory hogging, and I think EA needs to give us the outfits and not some third party site! I don't care for elders, unless I have Generations or Pets.

I don't recolor my elders hair back to the way it was when they were young but I will add a true white so their hair is silvery, or maybe do a dark hair color with silver at the temples or just a hint of color in the white.  I remember as a kid seeing some elderly women leave a salon with blue or purple hair and thought, "How gross!"  But if you add just tips in a color, particularly a soft color, they look pretty good.  Another trick is to put some weight on them before they age up to elder and definitely have them work out and bulk up.  If you use testingcheatsenabled true, you can send them to cas and rework their body weight and definition and smooth out some of the wrinkles too.  They still look elderly but not decrepit.  I noticed the elders who were more athletic to begin with had less of a slouch and walked a bit more normally.  My gen 2 just loves the gyroscope and bull and rock wall, and while he is very thin he is not "skinny", and moves better and looks better than his daughter who just aged up and is not at all athletic.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Thanks for the tips, Joria. I love my elders and want the best for them. I also think (as someone else said above) that an Elders stuff pack is a great idea.

I agree on the elder thing. Those are truly terrible outfits, and I've no idea what I'm going to do with generations 5-7 for elderly wear.

Unfortunately, I find the slouch/shuffle to be a bit more appealing than using a cane in game. I tried to give one to Agnes when she aged up, then sent her fishing. She cane/crawled her way over flat land, but places where she couldn't use it, she tucked the cane away and practically sprinted to the next flat land.

It took her at least twice as long to get to her destination with a cane than without. So I sold that and delete all wishes involving canes.

I totally agree with the comments about the Elders.  I have friends in their late 70's and no way any of them look all bent over and walking with a shuffle.  Nor do they wear dowdy clothing like the poor old Sims.  In my Dynasty a couple of the Immortals caught the running bug.  It was annoying when they were younger, but I quite enjoyed watching those two sprightly elders running everywhere instead of shuffling along.  If I ever feel inspired to do another Immortal Dynasty, I think I'll try to get them to catch the running bug just before their last birthday.

My dad is in his 70s and he plays chase with his dog (and if I'm there, beats me every time) and goes to the pool and swims virtually every day.

As for Sims 3, I hate the potbelly they get. Do you get an automatic potbelly at an old age?  I don't think so!
I'd like to split the elder stage into two phases (70-85 days and 85+ days) or something like that. 70-85 days could be where the Sim is 'elderly' but not yet in the condition of the stage 2. Stage 1 could be just skin-deep (i.e. wrinkles), while Stage 2 could have various debuffs and more effects (slower skill gain, slower athletic results, needs deplete faster, etc).

Is it me, or have babies and toddlers downgraded since Sims 2? I actually stopped playing with them altogether, because of it. Anyways, I think we need little sandboxes and kiddie pools for them to play in, and they should climb out their cribs and ask for things again! I remember when babies and toddlers were fun, now they're just plain boring without those interactions!

Generation introduced sandboxes Jeana.  And it won't surprise me if kiddie pools come with seasons.

What I really want is a stuff pack that is anime inspired.  Complete with hair, clothes, and decor themed around different animes.  I would love to give some of my Sims spiky. gravity defying hair, without it being that spiked moehawk.  And they need to be for all ages.  And then clothes and outfits from anime.  Like Sayan battle clothes from DBZ, or the Soul Reaper uniform from Bleach.  I goes the only real problem, apart from getting licensing from each publisher, is picking a selection of animes to use for inspiration that will make everyone happy, and not complain because [i[their[/i] desired anime wasn't included.

Toddlers can't play in the sandboxes, though. Which is a little silly. I see more real life toddlers play in sandboxes than actual children.

One small thing: recolorable eyelashes! I have wispy, light-colored eyelashes in real life. Even if they're just linked to the eyebrow color, I'd be satisfied. Not everyone has thick, lush black eyelashes.
