The problem with linking all the towns is that the loading times would be terrible.

I don't know or think the lagging is solely to do with the game, I think it's your computer and the amount of memory you put in it. Lagging typically happens from not enough memory on the computer, and too many TEMP files in your game folder. When you don't clean it out after say, a good month or so, all those backup files will accumulate (those are temp-folders), which causes your game to slow down. I'm no computer expert, but me and my dad know a thing or two from my Uncle (his brother) who has the computer wiz trait.  :)

@folcon: I really love the idea right there. Have your Sim travel to Bridgeport for a day, make friends there, and go home to Sunset Valley. Personally, I find Sunset Valley really boring after a great while and love the change of pace.

With all these sports suggestions, I'm beginning to think it's not impossible that they'll be included eventually.  They could mean individualized skills, no different than guitar, bass, drums and piano.

I can defiantly agree on this. You're right, maybe athletics could be broken down into individual sporting skills. I would love to see basketball, baseball, gnubb, (with Ambitions), swimming, soccer, football, (I'm from the States!) and hockey included that way too! I think the next patch update should include body piercings in CAS! The trait portion of Sim me is officially complete (thank you Pets)! Body piercings would be even more complete! I have my nose pierced by the way.

@lunaura: Please send your CV to EA. I would absolutely buy a sport based expansion pack. Not because I have so much with the olympics, but all those sports requires a LOT of skilling, and I simply LOVE skilling! :D

What's a CV?

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, so I'll just be safe.
CV is short for the Latin "Curriculum Vitae", and it is basically a list of your skills, achievements, personality, and anything else a potential emplyer would require. It's traditionally a requirement for getting a job - the application, the interview, the CV. Some schools require it if you wish to become a prefect, or Head Boy or Girl.

@Seabody: If I knew they would take it into consideration, I would totally send it in.

Also, I never thought the idea would get so much talk! Though I'm not big on sports in RL, I really think I could have fun with a sports related EP, and I know my husband would probably like it too, since HE is the sports nut.

@ Pam, although I really loved and enjoyed The Sims 2 Stories series, I really love The Sims 3 there is nothing wrong with wanting to blend in some of the old with the new, especially the beach.

It would be cool if male sims would grow facial hair, requiring regular shaving.  Go a few game days and it gets scruffy, a week or more and a full beard.

I love the idea of more sports!  I also always thought there should be more stuff on water, boats, water skiing etc.  But I'd settle for dry land sports, you could set up track and field at schools, high jump, long jump, discus, shotput, running races and relay races should all be fairly easy to animate, and easy to put together for EA! Though with Pets and horses my life is just about complete!

I also like the idea of facial hair that needs to be shaved and dealt with, that being said the ladies could have their hair get longer and scruffier and have to get it cut as well.

@folcan  I know this forum doesn't like mods, however there is one out there that allows you to go to any town you have saved (be it custom or EA made) and treat it like a vacation town, you are there for 3 or so days then you get sent home, it assigns you a base camp, and you can do regular opportunities there.  For example Sunset Valley folks could travel to Bridgeport to go party hard for three days at the clubs and then go home.  You retain friendships you made there (just like WA friends).  And it has no load time lag (over what you might already experience).

:D

Its not whether its hard or not, its whether or not it'll be a big seller, and would they make money.  If they made it so you could visit other towns, then they would make lots of money since people would then have to buy the other towns.  Personally I would defiantly buy a sports themed one, over a travel to other cities one (not including WA which I already own!)

Well, I agree. I would buy a sports themed one over traveling between cities.

They wouldn't be any worse than the loading times for WA, really.  The big issue would be that the save files would be massive.
Old forum mods never die.  We just get archived.

1 thing I really wish happened in the sims 3 is that you can close the curtains and blinds. :(

Yes, that needs to be done! What's the point of them if they don't give you privacy? :P
