Inability to Export

So far all i've tried with have been sims and households with no house attached, but they won't export.
What I do is I click the export button, name it and sometimes add a description before hitting the okay button.
It will sit there and take a couple minutes before a Sims textbox comes up. Inside it says export failed.
I can import things just fine, and so far everything else has been fine. Is there any suggestions as to what this is and how to fix it?
