Interrogation Team Assignment - A Role Play - I. Team Rubeus

Assignment Overview:

Each team was given a description of a scenario involving industrial sabotage.  Team members were randomly divided into "A"s and "B"s.   

The A team members were given the role of interrogators.  Their role was to extract information from the saboteur, using any form of persuasion they could think of.  The information desired:  who put you up to the sabotage, and why.

The B team members were given the saboteur role.  They were asked to decide before the interrogation started what sort of persuasion would be effective, and if the interrogator used the right approach, the B team members would respond by giving the correct information.

Rubeus Scenario:

The Fangs, Inc. company produces fine foods for the specialty market (vampires).  Recently the company's most important product, Plasma Fruit Pudding, was found to be adulterated with - gasp! - garlic.  A new hire was observed adding crushed garlic to the plasma pudding mix.  B, you are the new hire.  A, you are there to interrogate B.

Rubeus Interrogation:



Keira: So, what do you want from me?

Hazel: I think you know why you're here.



Keira: Maybe I do. But I'm not running this circus.

Hazel: Oh, a circus, is it? Fine. You are here because you were caught adding garlic to Plasma Fruit Pudding--a product produced primarily for vampires. As you are no doubt well aware, garlic is harmful to vampires. Don't bother to deny the allegations--you were caught red-handed, if you'll pardon the pun. What I want to know is who put you up to it.

Keira: And why exactly should I release that information?



Hazel: Because you're a smart girl, and you're not bad. I'm sure you had your reasons, but there's no need for you to suffer unduly for this. Let us know who was responsible, and I'll make you a deal.

Keira: What would such a deal entail?



Hazel: If you tell us who put you up to this, I can protect you from him or her. Have you heard of turning State's witness?

Keira: It means for me to spill.

Hazel: Well, yes--but it also means we'll protect you. You'll be safe from the repercussions.



Keira: This deal feels a bit one-sided. Do I get anything else?

Hazel: (sigh) Protection isn't enough for you? All right, I can try to get you immunity as well.

Keira: Immunity is nice... Okay. I'll spill. I was put up to it by Schipperke the Vampire Slayer. You've heard of her, haven't you? She has a base in Starlight Shores. Is that enough?



Hazel: Well, it's a great start. Hmmm, Schipperke the Vampire Slayer, huh? Sounds nefarious. Not quite enough yet, though. Can you tell me why she put you up to this?

Keira: Why do you think?

Hazel: As part of a master plan to kill masses of vampires? Is it as simple as that?



Keira: Why else would she? Garlic in Plasma Pudding isn't exactly an innocent prank.

Hazel: (nods thoughtfully) I was just wondering if there was anything more specific. Thank you, that will do.

Keira: So, I'm free? I'm free!

Hazel: You're not free. You're not going to jail, but you can't just go out on the street. That's what I meant by protection. We have to keep you safe until Schipperke is put away, and possibly beyond that if her reach is far enough to hurt you from prison.

I can't figure out if I'd be happier if that was a deliberate Buffy the Vampire Slayer reference, or a complete coincidence. Either way, it's fantastic!

Coincidence, I assure you.  Am I going to appear totally clueless if I ask who Buffy the Vampire Slayer is?  Well, I guess it wouldn't be the first time my cluelessness was apparent.

Pretty sure it was a tv show about a female named Buffy who slayed vampires. Also, I think she wears pink. I got all of this from watching "Vampires Rule Suck"

Interrogation Team Assignment - A Role Play - II. Team Sapphire

Sapphire Scenario:

The company Fire 'n' Ice, Inc. produces only one product - flame fruit ice cream, for the discerning Sim who wants their food to be not too hot, not too cold, but just right.  A new hire was observed removing the flame fruits from the mix and substituting ghost chilis.  B, you are the new hire.  A, you are there to interrogate B.

Sapphire Interrogation:

Jasper:  “We already know that you did it. There is no denying the evidence. The question now is who is behind all of it…and I believe that you know the answer.” He leaned forward and clasped his hands together. “Who put you up to this?”



Tomba:  "I don't know what are you asking. I have no hand on any crime. You are dealing with an innocent man."




Jasper:  "The flame fruit was found in your vehicle, remnants of the ghost chilies in your pockets, and the poor taste testers are still whimpering from the heat. No...I am absolutely positive that I have the right person here. Now I will ask you again: who put you up to this?"

Tomba:  "You know Mr., I am hungry as well as sleepy. So, please release me. And I have tell you many times, I am innocent. Those crimes are not related to me. I was hungry, so I buy the flame fruit. I don't know about the Ghost chili."

Jasper:  "So you know nothing about the ghost chilies in your own pocket? I find that terribly difficult to believe." He stood up. "Perhaps if you tell me the information that I need I can arrange a meal for you and a place to sleep, but first I need your cooperation."

Tomba:  "I can only say that someone just set me up to put me into conviction and you all arrest me. Now, where is the meal?"

Jasper:  "Ah, but I said that I needed your cooperation first. Your confession is one thing, but what I need from you is the identity of the person or persons who set you up." His expression became stern. "I want to make something very clear. If you do not give me the person's name that means you will be held fully and solely responsible for the crime. Industrial sabotage, intentional tampering of food meant for public consumption…those carry some pretty hefty prison sentences. Ask yourself this: is protecting the one responsible worth spending a decade or more behind bars?”

Tomba:  "Please dear Sir, please don't put into jail. Okay, I will tell you everything. Actually, I was blackmailed to steal the flame fruit and substitute the Ghost chilies. She is going to some Arctic Ocean, I don't know, so she needed the flame fruit. And her name is Schipperke. Please sir, please release me. I am truly an innocent man."



Jasper:  "Hmm...and how am I supposed to know that you are telling the truth? This "Schipperke" could be a random name that you made up to save your own skin. Do you have any proof of this blackmail?"

Tomba:  "Dear Sir, all I said was true. I was blackmailed to do the dirty work. The proof: you can find her siqnature and the duplicate of her ticket at the travel agency. They have all the records. And I have a blackmail letter. If you have her fingerprints at your database, you can find her fingerprints in the letter. All I can tell is these, Sir. Please release me."

Jasper's Personal Notes: I'm not so sure I like this interrogation thing. The idea of depriving someone of food or sleep or what have you bothers me. Even if they are a criminal, that just seems so...inhuman. A means to an end, yes, but surely there are better ways to get information. The threat of prison time worked in this case, though I know that it would not in others. Sigh...this is a moral conundrum.



Tomba's Personal notes: I was blackmailed by Schipperke to steal the flame fruit and substitite the Ghost Chilies. The intelligence officers caught me and put into an interview with a high officer. At first I thought I will not reveal anything. But as he threatened me, I had to reveal everything. After giving the proof, I guess they will release me.

Instructor's notes:  Yes, poor Tomba was being blackmailed by evil Schipperke the Arctic Explorer, who wanted all the flame fruits for her next arctic expedition.

Lol she didn't wear much pink.
But focusing on the story, this is the most amusing and engrossing story I have read in awhile. As such, I just spent the last 6 hours catching up on it all. But it's 8 am now, and I guess I should probably sleep.

Absolutely.  But given that Schipperke is also Ben's assistant, why would he keep her around if she was actually evil.  No I am certain they are just scenarios... right?
