I must say, Ben looks quite smashing in his new blue outfit . Congrats to the designers ! It was somewhat of a short vacation, but filled with very interesting things to do and explore . Anxious to meet those students and see what they have been up to . Great update !  :)

Hmm. Students. I wonder what Ben could possibly be teaching them.

Yes, some knowledge will definitely be distributed. Whether the knowledge is accepted, well, I am reticent.

Knowledge, huh? So *that's* what the kids are calling it these days...I'll have to remember that! ;) I'm sure that any knowledge that Ben chooses to share with his students will be gratefully accepted!

I'm assuming that these students have been created by the THBL team? I can't wait to see what they will be contributing to the storyline!! Fantastic update - as usual!!

Yes, the THBL team members have been hard at work, and just wait till you see what they've been doing!  It is just super.  :D

I know, I know - you've already been waiting too long, right?  That's entirely my fault, or rather, my computer's fault.  I wanted to have Ben and a certain building back and ready for screenshots, but the guys at the shop are still mystified by why the computer crashes every time I use it but won't do it at the shop.  So we'll be going ahead with the material the team members have put together, and I guess we'll see Ben when we see him.  I hope to have the first chapter of the THBL team's work ready to post later today or tomorrow.

This may sound silly but have they tried Simming? Perhaps if they tried to duplicate what you do when preparing an update, they would experience the crash themselves...Just a thought - As I've said, sometimes the voices in my head actually make sense! ;)

It's not silly at all!  The first thing they thought of was that it had something to do with the game.  The problem is, almost all of the crashes have happened when I wasn't playing the game.  When I brought the computer home from the shop after they reinstalled Windows & most of my Sims stuff, it crashed when the internet browser was open.  Just the browser.  They're doing all sorts of stress tests (I have no idea what that involves) and the thing will not crash in the shop.  But bring it home and it crashes every time I use it.  Maybe it just doesn't like me?  :-\

Re: The Name's Oliver - Ben Oliver. Ch. 112: OSS - Sapphire

OSS - Sapphire

The Time:  Sunday morning, early
The Town:  Sunset Valley
The Place:  A long-vacant lot on which bushes have magically appeared overnight.  If a Sim stood on tiptoe, it might just be possible to see a roofline behind the thick vegetation.  But as Sims are unable to stand on tippytoes, all that can be seen is the following sign*:

"Ordinary Sims Social Club"?  Passers-by wonder what manner of club this place may be.  But none of them feel inclined to push through the thick shrubbery to find out, and so they continue on their way.  Which is a good thing.

Because the OSS is not what it seems.  Not at all.  The "Ordinary Sims Social Club" is, in fact, a cover story.  The real OSS is something much more unusual, and a tiny bit mysterious.  Applicants for the OSS are beginning to arrive from all over the known Sim world.  They are coming for a very special reason.  Let's meet two of them.

1.  Tomba Singh, handler chetanhaobijam

Application Letter:

Dear Sir Oliver,

I am Tomba Singh and kindly requesting you to allow me to join the Oliver Spying School(OSS).

I come to Sunset Valley especially to join the OSS and become a spy the designation I so wanted to become. Sir, I have high skills in logic, enough athletic skill to tackle anyone and handiness if any such situation arise.

My cover in Sunset Valley is a doctor working at Sacred Spleen Hospital. And my specialty in spying is that no one will understand who I am and where I am when I am in disguise.

So, I, therefore, request you sir to allow me to join your great spying school.

Tomba's Cover Story in Sunset Valley:

(Tomba = younger one.)

Tomba's family live in Northeastern India. They are famous in the area for being rich. Tomba is the youngest in the family. Despite family riches and traditions, he had a dream, a dream to become a doctor. So, with some of the family's fortune, he moves to Sunset Valley to carry on his dream. For now, he is using the fortune until he got the perfect job. Meanwhile, he loves the blue clear sky, good neighbours near his house and his starting job.

2.  Jasper Dartwood, handler RaiaDraconis

Application Letter

Name: Jasper Dartwood
Age: YA
Life State: Human
Traits: Good, Genius, Handy, Neurotic, Neat
LTW: Become a Creature-Robot Cross-Breeder
Skills: Handiness lvl. 5, Gardening lvl. 3, Logic lvl. 2
LTRs: Observant, Multi-Tasker
Career: Science level 3

To Whom it May Concern,

My name is Jasper A. Dartwood, and I am writing today to express my interest in enrolling in Oliver Spy School. My mother is a retired officer with the APPD (Appaloosa Plains Police Department), but
there is only so much that a conventional police officer can do to undermine the criminal element. I believe that, with my set of skills plus what can be learned at the spy school, I would be able to help take down these nefarious individuals and make the world a better place.

Relevant Skills:
*  I am keenly observant and aware of my surroundings.
*  I have a working knowledge of mechanics and am capable of basic upgrades and jury-rigging.

(Note: I upgraded this stereo to act as a transmitter. Now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my sister is conspiring against me! And secretly dating Benjamin Schmidt...but that is another sordid tale entirely.)

Hobbies:
*  Rock collecting
*  Tinkering (As seen above.)
*  Playing with my pet rat Beanie

(Isn't she adorable?)

Thank you for your consideration, and I eagerly await your response.

Best regards,

Jasper

(Handler's Notes: He fancies himself a modern-day McSimver. Give him a ruler, a few sticks, and a roll of duct tape and he could build a working trebuchet in a matter of hours. Fair warning though—Jasper is a bit of a hypochondriac. A few weeks back he came down with hay fever and thought he was dying from some sort of rare flu. I doubt that this would endanger his ability to excel at the academy, however...though it might make for some interesting interactions with his classmates should any of them so much as sneeze.)

Jasper's Cover Story in Sunset Valley:

For as long as Jasper could remember he has always had an interest in how the world worked. As a child his parents gifted him with a chemistry set, which became his favorite pastime and the perfect escape from his overbearing older sister. Now a young adult, Jasper has chosen to come to Sunset Valley in the hopes of working under some of the greatest scientific minds in the world. To collaborate with the likes of Susan Wainwright and Judy Bunch would be a dream come true for this up-and-coming scientist. Plus, Sunset Valley has the added benefit of being hundreds of miles away from his sister…and that can only be a good thing.

Ben's Notes:  Two excellent candidates, although I hope Jasper can be persuaded to leave his rat at home.  Tomba and Jasper will be Team Sapphire.

*Sign courtesy of Swirl-Girl, who also kindly took the picture because of my ongoing computer woes.  Swirl-Girl, the Oliver Spy School and I thank you very much for generously sharing your creativity with us!

Knowing Jasper's Handler, I sincerely doubt that you'll be able to convince him to leave the rat behind.  ;)

Ditto.  I love the concept of the Olive Spy School.  I can't wait to see the rest of the candidates.

It's very nice to meet team Sapphire finally! No one on the THBL team knew exactly what anyone else was doing. Nice to meet you Tomba and Jasper. Here's hoping rats and wealth won't get in the way of anyone. Oh, and sisters. Pesky sisters.
