I am loving your story.  After you said that there are clues, I carefully re-looked at the story and noticed  :-X. Thus I now I have a theory that he got locked up because  :-X and he is going to escape by doing :-X.  They both fairly far fetched but I cannot see anything else as possibly being a clue.

Haha!  Well done, Strategy Thinker!  I see from your number of posts that you're new to the forum.  New here and already a top-hush, button-lip candidate in training?  Excellent!  ;D

When the Blood Island adventure draws to a close and "all is revealed," I am going to really enjoy hearing your and everyone else's theories.  Will you be saying "I knew it!"?  Time will tell.  ;)

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for the comment.

Once again, I blame the butler and ice cream truck. Their evil knows no bounds. :P

I think you're right about their evil.  And every time you say that, it makes me want to come up with an adventure for Ben involving the butler and an ice cream truck!  :D

YES! Max Skills and Ben team up to stop the ice cream truck but then Max turns on Ben because of the reverse traits potion! ;D And then Ben has to stop it!

I too have noticed something with the prisoners... no clue where this idea might lead though.

Edit: I've also noticed another oddity, though it's probably a coincidence. Knowing Schip though, there's no such thing as a coincidence in this story. ;)

Well all I can say is "Conrad, add me to the list of gormless idiots" because onions are from the allium genus not family, but we know Schipp doesn't make mistakes like that so... :-X

Well, yeah, actually, Schipp does make mistakes like that, and it appears she just did.  What can I say, I'm not a botanist or even any sort of a gardener.  Speaking of gormless idiots ...

Then again, it was the character speaking, so I can always claim it was deliberate - after all, it wouldn't be realistic to expect a crusty old inmate to know the finer points of botanical classification, right?  Yeah, that sounds good, let's go with that explanation.  ;D

Thanks for the comments!

Blood Island, Part VI

Diary Entry

I finally finished my share of the gardening and went in to take a shower.  When I left the shower room there was no-one around so I took the opportunity to peer through the observation window into one of the other cells and saw this:

Ghost prisoners?  I was really beginning to wonder what sort of place this was.

I had been hoping to talk to the warden or at least one of the guards, but so far the only guard I had seen was the one patrolling overhead on the catwalk.  Every so often the loudspeaker would blare into life and a prisoner would be ordered to come upstairs, but they hadn't called for me, and I thought maybe I should just go up the stairs and demand to talk to someone.  I walked through into the dining room.

My cellmate, the charming Conrad, was saying something to the blond fellow - what was his name, Arnie?  I heard Conrad's mocking voice saying "gormless idiot" and I knew he was talking about me.  He finished whatever he'd been saying, and he and Arnie dissolved in laughter.

That was it.  I had come here to try to work things out, to help these guys, and by way of thanks I had been gassed, stripped of my clothing, locked up with a bunch of cons who refused to talk to me, and now they were making fun of me.  I had had all I was going to take.  I pointed at Conrad and said, "You need to stop calling me names and making fun of me.  I don't like it."

"Oh, poor Lady Jane doesn't wike bad man making fun of widdle her?"  Conrad said, mocking me.

All the other inmates were clustering around, avidly watching.  I didn't care anymore.  I'm a good-natured sort of fellow, but a guy can take only so much, and I had reached my breaking point.  "I said don't call me that," I shouted.

The other prisoners were clapping and cheering.  They began chanting, "fight, fight, fight!"  I heard someone yell, "Kill the rat!"

If they wanted a fight, I was more than happy to oblige.  As the inmates stood watching, I tackled Conrad and wrestled him to the floor.

Conrad was strong and a brutal fighter, but I was filled with the adrenaline of pent-up frustration.

I kicked Conrad's butt.  I stood up, victorious, and glared at the circle of inmates.  "All right, who's next?" I roared.  Now that I'd defeated their leader, I knew I'd have to take on every last one of them - and probably die in the process.  I didn't care.  I had a fleeting image of my father and wondered how he'd feel when he learned I had died in a prison fight.

Okay, how can a ghost be locked up in prison? Although if Schip built it, there's probably something in the walls to prevent ghosts from going through them. Anyway, another great update!

Oh, I've already made a t-shirt pattern on my thread. And it's fully recolorable.
