Carl!! I was not expecting that. I love how he lost Ben!
I really wasn't expecting Carl either ! This was such a great update . We might even get to see Olivia again !  Am so, looking forward to tomorrow morning !  :)

Funny but Carl was exactly who I was expecting!  I was hoping it wasn't going to be Sheldon Cooper.

Hi there Schipp.  Back on deck and all caught up.  Fantastically fun reading all round.  I can't tell you how much a joy it is to read the very hilarious adventures of Ben Oliver.  I can't wait for the reappearance of 'Olivia'.  ;D

I literally shrieked and clapped with delight when it was Carl. I quite startled my husband and his best friend with my reaction. Then of course I had to explain. What a brilliant development.

Of course!  Who else could it have been?  Good to see Carl so hard at work, but then, that's nothing new.  Sorry he didn't love his grand house in UC.  Took me almost 3 weeks to build it.  Ah well, cheers for a more simple life.

How could anyone not love such a grand house!  I think it was the lifestyle that Carl eventually tired of, not the house at all.  As described in Anushka's story, I think Carl just felt a need for a higher purpose in his life.  And of course, Mr Payne's team could never afford to give him a castle like the one Carl had in Union Cove.  I suspect Carl is just glad he didn't wind up having to share the barracks with Ben and all those women.  ;)

If he did, I hope that wouldn't be the return of Olivia. :o

I never expected Carl to show yp, though I should've. (I had just read Anushka's post about Carl yesterday) I'm glad to see that Oliver's list of allies is growing ever larger!  :D

I did expected Carl to show up, and it is just what he wanted in the first place! Mr Payne was a perfect person to talk to if you want to do something for a higher cause, and that house is just wonderful!
Glad to see Carl landed safe and settled well, and that he got to help The Spy :D

No Rest for the Weary

Diary Entry

I loved being an astronaut, but those long shifts were murder.  After 18 hours of being bounced around in a flight simulator, I was more than ready for some shut-eye.

I woke briefly when the recruits and May were bustling around getting ready for work, then fell back into a deep, peaceful sleep.  But not for long.

Between Bonehilda trying to make the bed with me still in it and De Luca yelling at me to get up, I was not in the best mood and I said so.

"Stop whining, Oliver!" De Luca barked.  "There's work to be done.  Get your lazy rump out of bed and meet me in the kitchen.  I hope you've got something edible in that fridge, because I'm starving."

I stumbled down the stairs, still half-asleep, and found De Luca polishing off a plate of leftover potato truffle.

"Not bad, not bad," she said.  "I'm glad to see you're feeding everyone well.  Now, what do you know about water?"

Water?  She got me out of bed to talk about water?  "Well," I said cautiously, sensing a hidden agenda but not knowing what it was, "I guess I know as much about water as most people.  I shower in it.  People use it in hot tubs." (I was, of course, remembering Doreen.)  "People use it for watering their plants, people do laundry with it -"

"Exactly!" De Luca exclaimed.  "We all use water, everyday.  In fact, it's essential to our lives and to the economy.  Now look at this picture.*

Burning water?  How could that be? I wondered.

"How, indeed," said De Luca.  "Do you realize the problems something like this could cause?  Utterly catastrophic!

"A team of top scientists have assembled and are working around the clock, but there's trouble at the science facility.  You need to get over there on the double.  Here's the file - you can read it on the plane."

Just then there was a commotion at the door as the recruits arrived home.  De Luca immediately leapt to her feet and started yelling at me, "Taking off for days with some woman - are you out of your tiny mind, Recruit?  You deserve to be busted back to latrine cleaner for a stunt like that!"

De Luca continued loudly:  "But because I'm in a magnanimous mood, I'm not going to bust you.  This time.  I've decided to give you another chance.  You leave immediately for sensitivity training.  Well, why are you still standing there, Oliver?"

With the recruits and Bonehilda listening and looking on, I snapped out in my best military manner, "Yes, Sir!  Thank you, Sir!" and saluted my boss.

Diary entry ends.

*thanks to cndneh for sharing that picture with the forum!

I'm starting to wonder how much of Ben's reputation will be left standing at the end of this...

Dear Readers,

Ben has been working extremely hard, one mission right after another.  When he returns home from this mission he is going to need a break.  I am planning a little special entertainment for him, but I need  your help.  I am looking for five helpers.  The helpers' duties will include doing a makeover on a  townie Sim and answering questions that will be given to you (questions that you will answer from the perspective of the Sim you made over).  I believe there may also be prizes awarded.

I'd rather not go into a lot more detail at this point, but if there's anything in what I've written that you want clarified, please ask.

Anyone who would like to take part, please say so in this thread.  If and when we have five volunteers, I'll contact you all personally to discuss the plan in more detail.

Thanks for your help.

ps.  The helpers will also have to have top hush, button-lip security clearance, of course.  Meaning, the ability to keep a secret.  Remember, in the intelligence business, loose lips sink ships!   ;)

Ooooh me me pick me! I want to, Schip! That's just what I need right now.

By the way, I love De Luca's before-now-unknown acting abilities. Well done! Brava! I also love how you use interesting/funny/weird things from the forum as missions for Ben. So funny!
