Well...it's true that if your instructor had left his pet Fluffy at home, he'd probably still be locked up in Blood Island Prison.  I guess pets can be useful at times, maybe even rats.  Ok, the rat can come.  If she behaves herself.

OSS - Rubeus

Ben takes a break from his reading.  As he sips his coffee, he wonders how the students will do in their coursework and assignments.  Remembering Fluffy and the prison escape, Ben grins ruefully, thinking perhaps Jasper's little friend Beanie will be able to help him in some way.  Judging from the way Jasper rushed in to defend his little friend when Ben wanted to send the rat home, any evildoers who mean harm to Beanie will meet stiff opposition from Jasper.  "Maybe he should consider a career in animal protection," Ben thinks.  Then he turns to the next application.  "Good, a woman," he mutters approvingly and begins to read.

3.  Keira Jane, handler - Swirl-Girl

Application Letter:

To the headmaster of the OSS:

Please consider my application to attend your school.  I believe I have good qualities to become a spy.  My teacher used to always say, "The world is colorful, and so are the people in it!"  But people would whisper behind the teacher's back, "Surely he wasn't talking about Keira. She's all grey, and creepy, and quiet."  Maybe that's because I wear a lot of grey (with a little bit of red).  I seem to have a knack for disappearing into the shadows.



My traits are Flirty, Loner, Brooding, Athletic and Ambitous.  I have the following skills:  Athletic - 5; Fishing - 2; and Writing - 1.





I think the story of how I came to learn about the OSS shows that I was destined to become a spy.  When reading the classifieds one day, I found this scrawled upside down on the bottom of the page:

I called the number, but it turned out to be Benjamin's Real-estate.

Then several days later my boss asked me if I wanted to get transferred to SV. It might have been because I just spilled his coffee on him again, but I'm not sure. He gave me a phone number:

As I dialed the number I figured it out. When the phone was answered I said, "Benjamin's Real-estate?" And then there was a lot of commotion and they gave me some instructions. I was to write an essay explaining why I wanted this position, and why I deserved it. Very cheesy. They also told me not to document the details of my job opportunity. Anywhere. So I can't reveal much more here in case other people might be reading this.



I think becoming a spy is a a great opportunity. I am wonderful at just disappearing from someone's perception. I can figure out little puzzles once I get all the clues. I'm comfortable with less... moral manipulations of the emotions. I also don't have much of a social life. No one really knows me, that'll be helpful later on, won't it?

Keira's Cover Story in Sunset Valley:

Keira is from IP, and when her parents died she inherited their beach house. She is a "Coffee Courier" and apparently spilled coffee on her boss one too many times. So she got transferred to their office in SV, she got her nice home by selling her beach house, and all of it's contents. With meager pay and high bills, how will she make ends meet? In her free-time she likes fishing, and has occasionally dabbled in writing.

To Whom it May Concern:

Please accept this, my application to join the OSS.  I am Ambitious (I'll work hard), have a Green Thumb, I'm Charismatic, Brave and Handy.  I have the following skills:  Charisma 3; Athletic 1; Cooking 1; Gardening 2; and Handiness 2.  As you can see, I am a good all-arounder, able to take on many kinds of jobs. 

As for why I want to study spycraft, my cover story is based on truth. If one were to dig in my history, they would find that my parents were farmers and I do teach and send money home regularly. The whole truth, however, is that we used to have a problem with burglars.* I used to stare at the police, thinking, ‘Man, those guys are always late! I wonder why?’, and it became a dream of mine to find out just how burglars were always so fast to appear and disappear. I believe becoming a spy will help this childhood dream of mine.

John's Cover Story in Sunset Valley:

John is from a gardening family who planted their own crops to sell. He is an only child and works in the education career to send money to his retired parents in his hometown Twinbrook. He heard that the school in Sunset Valley had better pay, so he transferred there to earn more money.

*Note from John's handler, KillCupido:  I came up with this idea when poor John’s home got broken in…twice! That never happened to me before!

Instructor's comments:  Another couple of good candidates.  Keira and John will be Team Rubeus.
