The Random Wishmaster Challenge is giving me a whole new perspective on traits I've never used before.  Some traits just seem a waste of a slot: example, Never Nude - who cares?  But one of my Randoms has the Insane trait, and it has unanticipated benefits.  The Guide points out that Insane sims can meet their Social need by talking to themselves, but it doesn't mention that they also get a lot of Fun doing this.  This makes Ludwig the Insane a great traveller - a quick natter with himself keeps both needs high.  He's almost always having a blast, and I have a blast watching and listening to him.

I didn't know this about Insane trait.  I know the Green thumb can chat to plants and get bump up their social need from it.  The Wishmaster Challenge has opened my eyes to some traits as well.  My one sim was unlucky, and though it didn't affect much, it sure was a blessing when she was electrocuted and the Reaper showed up.. she was unlucky in that the Grim Reaper didn't want her and sent her back to the land of the living!  (lucky for me!!)  Not a trait I'd chose, but its not a waste of a slot trait for me any more.  (Though I agree about the Never Nude... really... who cares.)

Neurotic, the tranquil moodlet helps writers and career sims fight stress.

My fav Handy, huge time saver on cleaning and fixing.

I try to choose traits that sims would always use

Hm, I knew not all sims are fat and not slobs, or slobs but not fat. But they seem to gain wait quicker if mixed in with couch potato. They prefer eating fatty foods.

They prefer eating fatty foods.

They eat the same recipes as any other Sim.  I think it's quantity that makes a Sim gain weight.  Getting the Stuffed moodlet all the time will probably do it.

I think it is because they eat and don't do any form of exercise, they also have autonomous actions to get a snack for more food.  ;)

I just had to share my thoughts. I think it's very interesting hearing other people's thoughts on traits.

What I think are the most positive influencing traits:
Loves the Outdoors: Gives that moodlet from being outside
Childish: Will always get the have a blast.
All four traits that came with pets: They always get positive moodlets from being around their furry creatures.

The trait I always have to give my Sims: Insane of course! They talk to themselves, wear and do whatever they want and I love the idles! The new idles (barking, meowing, galloping) that came with pets are even better. ;D

;D I love the new Pets traits!

But my must-haves are always either Charismatic, Neurotic, Ambitious or Klepto. Charismatic is one of my favorites actually because I hate the regular way to make friends in the game because it takes too much time from other activities, so my sims always get the Charismatic trait and then learn Charisma to level 3 at least. Neurotic is also cool, lots of really quick and easy happiness points. Oh, and Loves the exteriors too! I use it a lot with anglers, fishers and most Ambitions activities, I just put them to work outside.

My general must haves are: Friendly/Charismatic and Athletic.

And I think Virtuoso and Athletic MAY play a larger role in the upcoming EP.

One I usually get is Savvy Sculptor. But I tend to sculpt a lot and I hate how often when doing a stone sculpture they disintegrate without this trait. Such a waste of time for the gem you sometimes get when it happens.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

The most entertaining traits are Childish and Innapropriate. I tend to avoid common, boring traits like Lucky, Friendly, Family Oriented, etc.

I tend to have loud opinions. So sorry. I got tons of issues, lol. I can also be found on Yahoo! Answers.

I have the childish trait in real life. ;D Although I made it very clear as soon as everyone got to know me on this forum. LOL.

Anyways, I think Insane is my all time favorite. Evil is great too, because I was born with the conflicting trait, good. Grumpy Sims aren't fun at all. The only fun thing about being grumpy is trolling on the forums, which is another reason why I love evil so much. Gunther Goth and Nick Alto troll on the forums at least 10 times a day when they're under my control.

I'm childish too! But I'm not a big fan of kids in RL.

When I make a household, I tend to use opposing traits like a Good sim who's friends with an Evil one.

Family Oriented is not a waste, for all the reasons Pam said. But my must-haves are OE, Ambitious and sometimes Workaholic so they can work at home and get closer to the top. Klepto is a good one too if I have an extra slot.
Almost 2 years after that post, and my must-haves haven't changed lol. Every sim I have gets the OE and Ambitious traits. Than the other 3 are totally dependent on what I want to do with that particular sim.

I also hate the Grumpty trait! I have the grumpy trait in real life, but Sims are way too grumpy! I mean, who wakes up feeling grumpy 5 days a week? I love Agnes Crumplebottom, but her grumpiness is really annoying. I do like the Insane trait though, it's a funny one.

I don't worry so much about what trait has advantages for a certain Sim unless I really have a goal in mind.   I tend to apply traits depending on what the Sim looks like to me.

I do have to say though that one trait I use a lot is Good Sense Of Humor. The only reason I use it a lot is that watching a Sim walk across a room and all of a sudden they start to laugh at their own private joke just cracks me up.
