Sims Game Won't Fully Load?

I recently downloaded Sims Ambitions and the game was running fine. I played it for a couple of days, saved it, x'ed out, and then wanted to play again... but this time, it loaded my saved game to about 99% and wouldn't go any further...
I tried x'ing out and doing it again but it's the same deal. stuck at 99%...

What should I do? I have no idea where this problem is coming from. this happened to me before and it was a huge mess having to reinstall it.

How long did you leave it at 99% before giving up and closing the game? This happened to me for a while, but I just left it for a really long time (about 10 minutes sometimes I think) and it always finished loading in the end. Maybe try going away and doing something else and see if it loads eventually? If not, I'm afraid I can't think of anything else :S Good luck!

It's been awhile.... maybe over an hour. The thing is I never had any problems with the game loading slowly so I don't think that's the problem :/ Thank you though!

Have you cleared caches? (see: here) This solves a lot of problems, and it's painless, so it's a good first step in any troubleshooting.

Did you also restart your computer when you restarted the game?

Is it just the one game or have you tried loading a new file?  Have you downloaded anything new recently?  Double check all your options before you try to enter the game - turn off shop mode and anything else that may have to load at the same time as your game.

I tried turning off shop mode, still no luck!
After the game wouldn't load the first time, I tried to update it to the newest version. the problem still persisted but at least my game is up to date. I don't know if that helps D:

When you load the game and it gets to the main menu, hit the "..." button and then choose options.

My suggestions would be to be in windowed mode and not full screen.  Turn off reflections.  Go to the tab with two gears at the top - there make sure enable shop mode is unchecked.  You can choose to turn off lessons and memories as well if you'd like. 

Did you do any other changes to your computer between the two times that you played?  Install new programs?  Download new content?

Oops, I must have edited my post a little after you replied.
There actually wasn't a "turn off shop mode" option under the two gears. I ended up googling how to manually do that and I did, but that didn't fix my problem...

Yep! that's what my options menu looks like right now.
And yeah, it's working with my other game files but I wanted to keep my old game... I've been playing with the same family line for over a year and so I didn't want to lose all that data...

When was the last time you successfully played that save file? Did it break since you last patched up? Have you recently uninstalled an EP or SP?

If you have an earlier save file of that family, try going back to it and seeing if the same thing happens. If it's only a few days back and it loads, well, you only have to replay a little.

I was able to play the game earlier this morning. I loaded up my backed up files and they worked fine (but unfortunately the most recent one was from 4 months ago).
I saved, x'ed out of the game, and it works just fine.
Maybe this is a lost cause :/ I wish I could just find out what caused it//how I can prevent it from happening again, hahaha.
