You can add as many as two -- one for the social group and one for graduation. If you reach level 8 in another social group, you get the option to change the social group trait you added. Probably the same if you get a second degree. So you can have a maximum of 7 traits. However, for Immortal Dynasty and Townie Decadynasty, once you add a trait, your heir can't change it.

Chapter Eight – Young ‘Uns

Dear Diana,

First of all, please make sure that Woden knows how much we enjoyed his blogs. Mom and I both laughed until we cried, and Virgil said he’ll be looking forward to his movies.

Virgil is a high school graduate now. He didn’t make valedictorian, but did graduate with highest honor. Mom says what’s important is that he always did his best.

The day after he graduated, we had a couple of birthdays. Early in the morning, Janet brought Basil in to blow out his candles.

He’s an adorable toddler, scattering daisies wherever he crawls.

Virgil started out teaching him how to walk.

When Mom sent Virgil off to collect a butterfly for her elixir, he put Basil in his walker, which he loved.

The other birthday was Beppe’s. It occurred in the evening, when he was working on Virgil’s young adult statue.

I think Beppe’s pretty adorable, even if he doesn’t scatter any daisies.

With the butterfly, Mom was able to make a wish-enhancing elixir for Virgil. As soon as he drank it, I set up some fish bowls. Just like that, Virgil completed his lifetime wish (ahead of me, I might add), and was able to obtain two of his unique rewards – the moodlet manager and prepared traveler.

Virgil took the aptitude test and won a scholarship and some extra credit towards a degree in physical education.

He then shocked everyone by saying that even though he’d agreed to college, he really wanted to go to China instead. “I’ll just spend my time partying, Gran,” he pleaded. “I won’t be able to practice my moves, and I’m ready for my sparring matches now.” To my surprise, Mom relented. If Virgil could find someone to marry – other than Janet – he could go to China with her blessing.

I was a little surprised at her stipulation, but she explained that there had long been a problem for unmarried people traveling abroad. No matter how circumspect their behavior, they might find themselves becoming parents without knowing about it. And that was something that could wreck the dynasty.

I suppose Mom knows what she’s talking about. She’s been acting a little strange lately. Even though she knows that she’s supposed to stay away from the easel and the sculpting station so as to leave those skills for future generations, she keeps forgetting.

One good thing is that she’s really bonding with Basil. She recited a long poem to him about a cowardly dragon that he loved.

And she’s always picking him up and giving him hugs. He’s an easy child to deal with, requiring only love and sleep, and we all make sure he gets plenty of love. I think having Basil around eases her grief for Qusul. But she’s determined that Basil is not going to be just a resident painter for our dynasty. He's going to have a life, too, she says.

Tell Woden we’re looking forward to his next blog. Love, Aurelia

Aww, too bad, I was hoping he'd marry someone from China. I suppose that avoiding bugs is more important, though. *sigh* I hope he finds a good one.

Basil really is too cute, leaving flowers in his adorable wake. I wonder who Virgil will pick so he can go to China?

Chapter Nine – Women of a Certain Age

Dear Diana,

We’re all still giggling over Woden’s last set of blogs. I hope he keeps his sense of humor – we can always use comic movies.

I have quite a bit of news, all of it important. First off, Virgil found someone to marry. He went to the consignment shop just as it was closing up and fell in love. He proposed to the clerk, Giovanna Costa.

They married immediately.

They then came home and spent the next couple of days trying for baby.

I knew I hadn’t gone to school with anyone named Giovanna, and I thought that meant she was younger than I was. It turned out she was a former fairy of Mom’s generation, and I’d gone to school with her three children. But she’s very pretty, and Virgil says he doesn’t mind that she’s a woman of a certain age.

As soon as she and Virgil knew she was pregnant, Virgil took off for China. He sent us a bunch of photos showing his various moves, but I’ll share only a few with you.

I don’t know why Virgil did so much of his sparring in the bathroom or kitchen. As I recall China has lots of open areas.

Then again, maybe it helps to have the facilities close by.

Virgil’s last – and highest ranked – opponent was a woman of a certain age, Adaeze Min. She beat him the first couple of matches, probably because he underestimated her.

Back at home, Giovanna changed into her maternity clothing and began eating watermelons.

Beppe joined everyone else in playing with little Basil.

He had his birthday this morning, with Mom doing the honors.

No sooner had Basil blown out his candles, then Giovanna went into labor. Virgil took it calmly.

Here’s another “woman of a certain age” – Claudia Cottoneye, excitable and friendly.

As for me – I’ve completed my lifetime wish to become a creature-robot cross-breeder. I need one more promotion, one more best friend, and a building –and of course, I have to become an elder and get my portrait painted. Wish me luck! Aurelia

So did he cure her off camera? Because they don't stop being fairies by themselves, do they?

That comment about the facilities made me laugh. :D

I thought you had to take the spouse on holiday with you to prevent those nasty bugs, but I suppose they just have to have a spouse, maybe? But I have definitely heard that it's possible to have a different spouse in each destination. Pretty crazy.

Welcome, Claudia!

Yes, the cure occurred off-camera -- love those potent cure elixirs!

I always thought they just had to have a spouse. And for dynasty purposes, the main thing is that a foreign-born baby not precede the heir. And it's possible that glitch has been fixed. I'm sure I've sent single sims abroad without a problem for over a year now.

Giovanna was a vampire and the clerk at the consignment store for most of the generations of my ID.  I got really attached to her and was super sad when her death notice popped up.  Glad to see her becoming an active player!  Can't wait to see little Claudia age up

I just noticed I haven't commented in ages (ever?) so I'd just like to say I've been reading from the beginning, and I just read through your Townie DecaDynasty and it makes the beginning of this one even more amazing!

Welcome, azokka and Eldridge, and thanks for the plug, Anna! Bouncing back and forth between the two has been interesting for me as a writer (and even more as a player, keeping track of which rules I'm on), but I hope it's also interesting for my readers.
