How to get different roofs on the same lot

Firstly, apologies if this is a daft question but i am trying to construct the new Stones Throw Greenhouse on my Sim's home lot but when I try to add the flat roof to the greenhouse it also changes the house lot to a flat roof as well. I tried turning auto roof off but it still does the same thing. How can I add the roof to just one building on the lot without it affecting all the buildings on there?

Are you holding Shift while placing your roof? The flat roof is a flooring so it works in the same way. Click and drag the space you want to put your greenhouse. That should work.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I clicked shift and then placed the flat roof but when you look at the whole house with the roof showing it then places the roof that was on the house back on top of it. I even tried fitting the greenhouse roof bits on top of the flat roof that are in the roof decorations section and that works but then, when you look at the whole house in live mode with the roof showing it has the greenhouse roof with the normal style roof underneath it 

If someone could talk me through how to build a greenhouse then maybe that would help? I'm clearly missing something very basic out!

If the normal roof appears, try this:

1) Make sure AutoRoof is off!
2) Select the Sledgehammer tool.
3) Click on the offending roof to delete it.
4) Do the same for any more roofs that shouldn't be there.

A flat roof just adds floor tiles rather than an actual roof. For the greenhouse you just need to pick a floor tile and cover the area on top completely without using the Flat Roof tool from Roofing Options. 

Have you updated your Greenhouse yet? They released an updated version which you will need to uninstall the previous version and then reinstall/download the new version from the store.

Thanks both for your replies, it's worked! I sledgehammered the roof off the greenhouse and placed floor tiles.

I waited until they fixed the problem before I actually bought it which is probably fortunate seeing as I've had enough problem building it in it's simplest form without having to mess around with the workaround that was suggested to make it weather proof
