New LTR's: How Do They Fit With Original Careers?
« on: June 27, 2010, 08:44:17 PM »
I find the new LTRs confusing now that we have self-employment, careers, professions, and part-time jobs. I'm guessing that the Entrepreneurial Mindset only applies to self-employment, the Profession Simoleon Booster to only the new Ambitions jobs, Artisan Crafter to sculpting and inventing, etc.

So what LTRs apply to old careers? Is Multi-Tasker the one to choose for, say, business career? Do none of the new LTRs apply to old jobs?

Is Multi-Tasker the one to choose for, say, business career?

You want Multi-Tasker for any career where the performance meter is fed on a constant basis while you're on the clock — i.e. the original rabbithole careers with the green meter on the right side.

Do none of the new LTRs apply to old jobs?

Artisan Crafter is definitely only going to impact Sculptors and Inventors, as the description implies. Profession Simolean Booster will benefit all careers — self-employed and standard. Entrepreneurial Mindset is targeted for self-employed Sims who want to rise to the top of their careers faster by gaining more experience for their accomplishments. So, it has no impact on the old rabbithole careers.

So the Profession Simolean Booster will also benefit the old rabbithole careers as well as the new professions?

Actually, I'm not certain of that.  Metro, have you tested this with the old careers?

I will do so tomorrow. I thought I asked the same question a couple weeks ago in another thread and the response was "yes" the reward covers all careers.

EDIT: Yeah, the Guide states it's for Ambitions professions. I will try and do some testing tomorrow just to make sure.

There is a vague distinction between jobs, careers, and professions, not to mention self-employment. How they all behave is still not clear to me.
