Baby Boomer IV: Family Tree Explosion

Goal
After a year’s hiatus, one of the most popular challenges is back for 2013. Start with 2 Married Young Adult Sims and try and have as many children as possible before the mom reaches Elder stage.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • Create 2 Married Young Adult Sims.
  • The mom's life state for the entire challenge must be either Human, Ghost, or Witch. The dad's life state does not matter.
  • Your starting two Sims are the only Sims allowed to Try For Baby.
  • Your starting two Sims must always live together.
  • No adoption or clones.
  • No Time Machine.
  • Only offspring can be added to the Household.
  • No vacations.
  • No babysitters.
  • No butlers.
  • No Simbots.
  • No Bonehilda.
  • No Simporting.
  • Mother is not allowed to use a dresser to plan an outfit.
  • Anything that has a potential to lengthen the mom’s pre-Elder lifespan — makeovers, eating life fruit, mud baths, drinking life fruit drinks, getting a tattoo, eating Ambrosia, Age Freeze LTR — all are banned for the mom.
  • You are only allowed to cake up with a birthday cake if you attain the life stage goals listed below.
  • Household members can only move out upon reaching Young Adult stage and completing the YA life stage goals listed below
  • This challenge concludes when the mother reaches Elder stage.

Baby Stage Goal:
• If a Baby is Best Friends with both parents, then you may cake up the baby.

Toddler Stage Goals:
• If a Toddler learns all 3 Toddler skills (Walking, Talking, Potty Training), plus reaches level 3 in another skill then you may cake up the Toddler.

Child Stage Goals:
• If a Child completes a collecting challenge (the Mushroom collection does NOT count) and reaches level 3 with the oven OR level 3 with the blocks, you may cake up the Child.

Teen Stage Goals:
• If a Teen has a unique Romantic Interest and reaches level 3 in a part-time career you may cake up the Teen.

Young Adult Stage Goals:
• If a Young Adult completes a unique LTW and purchases 1 unique LTR, they can be moved out.

Scoring
When your mother hits Elder status, pause the game. Open up the Simology tab and click on Family Tree. Count the total number of Sims directly under your original pair—so it's only their children you count and not grandchildren or spouses if they ended up marrying after getting the boot. Award yourself the following:

Sims who have moved out = 3 points
Sims in the Household who achieved their LTW and purchased their 1 unique LTR (all LTW of final Household members must be unique) = 2 points
Sims in the Household who did not attain their LTW or purchase their LTR = 1 point

Total — Let’s go through an example:

Your mother hits the Elder stage. It’s now time to stop. Pause the game and open up the Simology tab. Count the total number of Sims right under your original pair. Let’s say it’s 20 and there are 5 children remaining in the Household when your mother hits Elder status. So, it’s easy to figure out how many Sims you moved out:

20 - 5 = 15 Sims moved out. 15 X 3 points each = 45 points.

Now take a look at your remaining Household members and write down how many of the 7 (5 children + your starting pair) attained their Lifetime Wish and purchased their 2 unique LTR. Let’s say 4 of the 7 completed their LTW and purchased their rewards:

4 Household members attained LTW/Rewards X 2 points each = 8 points
3 Household members did not attain LTW/Rewards X 1 point each = 3 points

45 + 8 + 3 = 56 points.

Here's a nice spreadsheet to keep you organized — LenaLJ's Baby Boomer IV Spreadsheet.

Metro, a quick question about the Childhood life-stage... Would it be ok to learn the blocks (handiness) OR cooking with the oven?

Are traits able to be chosen or do they need to be randomized for the founding pair and all resulting offspring?

Sure, that's okay. I'll make the edit.

Are traits able to be chosen or do they need to be randomized for the founding pair and all resulting offspring?

If there are no specific restrictions then always go on the assumption that traits are totally up to you.

One of the rules says only offspring can be added to the household, so would take that to mean no pets.

Do you want to ban maids, as well?

You know I'm bouncing in my chair right now, right?  ;D

Pam the reason we banned bonehillda is because of her nanny abilities. She will quite easily take over the feeding changing etc. Maids as far as I know barely clean let alone babysit.

Lysita, discussing possible strategies is against the rules for challenges.

Lol...Gotta keep Queen Bee and her awesome nooboo skills happy. ;) Yeah, I know you were not crazy about the Teacher Tourist Trap, so it was definitely time to get back to the core of what Baby Boomer is all about.

-------

@Lysita -- your post was removed. Don't worry...it wasn't that bad, but you may have given some players thoughts of how to approach this challenge.

By a collecting challenge, do you mean a skill challenge or an opportunity?

One of the skill challenges associated with the collecting tab in the skill journal.  It might also be in the collection journal now too I just can't remember.

Examples: 10 types of gems, Every butterfly, space rocks, etc.

Insane.

I'm so glad I found the challenges here - they're brilliantly horrendous. No idea whether I'll even finish this one, but gleeeee!... Roll on January?

I am game for this. I practiced a bit on one of the previous challenges. :D I think the Young Adult stage is going to be the hardest for me..

Edit: Also, quick question: Are we allowed to turn the weather off for these challenges? I normally keep the seasons going, but turn off hail/rain/snow. I was wondering if it would be up to the player like Lunar phases, etc. (Dumb zombies!)
