I didn't have much of a strategy with this challenge, other than alternating easy and hard lifetime wishes. For the collecting, I went with gems for all the children, using Mom's collection helper. Even though you need 10, there are more than 10 types of gems with the expansions I have, but with metals you need every kind. Also, I could visually tell them apart by color, so I would queue up only the ones they did not have yet. It never took me more than 2 days to get the challenge done, and usually only one, if ten different gems were out in the world at once. The Romantic Interests was definitely the hardest part.

Actually, any 5 metals will do, you don't need all of them. I found that much easier than the gems.

Perhaps the appropriate term should have been age up rather than cake up as the term was quite misleading not that it made a difference in my game. And I thought that move objects cheats was only usable for building not for game play entirely! Well I guess now we know for other challenges!

I have only the base game and Pets expansion. So the way I played the challenge was very different from how most others probably did. (No elixirs, no strange life states, no strollers, no Motive Mobile, no vacations, no cool ways to make rocks appear in my yard (well, except one I didn't realize), here.) I did not get a great score (64), but it might be decent considering what I had to work with, and how much I learned as I went. Anyway I thought I would add what I learned since it might be helpful to others.

Before my challenge file, I created a test family to try out a lot of science experiments, including testing some methods of befriending babies. I found out the following:
  • A parent with the Friendly trait doesn't make friends faster than a parent without it, despite the way the trait description in-game seems (to me) to read. (I did not think to check whether the baby being Friendly helped.)
  • With a test baby, a non-Charismatic (trait) mother could spam "Snuggle" and go from Friends to Best Friends in 70 minutes. Spamming "Play With" instead brought them to Best Friends in 149 minutes. "Play With" builds the parent's Fun bar and Snuggle doesn't, but having more Fun isn't necessary for this task.
  • If the mother was Charismatic (trait), then spamming Snuggle could build the relationship in only 55 minutes--fifteen minutes faster than a non-Charismatic mother.
  • I suspected giving the baby a bottle repeatedly might build it even faster, but I did not check because the idea was too upsetting.
I completed Charisma challenges on the parents in hopes that babies would reliably jump past the Good Friends stage to Best Friends (among other things). Sometimes the leap from Friends to Best Friends worked, and sometimes it didn't--I often had skipping-past-Good-Friends work for one parent on the same baby, but not the other parent, even though both had clearly completed the relevant Charisma challenge long before. I loved it every time it worked for both parents on the same baby, but that was rare. I still don't know what was going wrong with that.

I almost never sent anybody to school (after I had a breakthrough about it early on, anyway). If I needed the child/teen trait, I had the parents tutor to fix the kid's grades right before the cake-up. Amazingly they could turn a bottomed-out "F" grade into an A in part of a day.

Sitting the camera outside the school at 2pm enables one to see who the current crop of teenagers available for romantic interests are. This was a breakthrough near the end, and much faster than how I was doing it before (which was having the kids slowly "Meet New Friends" while at school.)

I never realized I could cake up NPCs ... I guess I took "You are only allowed to cake up with a birthday cake if you attain the life stage goals listed below," too literally (?). That would have helped a lot with a few of the romantic interests.

I had read on the Sims Wiki that there is a hidden Collecting skill. Several things I have read on the Sims Wiki have turned out to be untrue when tested, but I didn't have much information to go on when devising a collection strategy--so I bet on it. So I was a little biased toward picking up rocks (which couldn't escape/resist) when a child had recently aged-up, all other things equal.

In tests I got better overall spawn rates for collected rares while keeping the map clear--so the children pretty much collected whenever they weren't curfewed or playing on the blocks/oven. (Regrettably, this may have driven me slightly insane.) I wish I had realized about moveObjects on.

I had never used a teleporter before this challenge (looked too scary). Partway through, I realized I could not only use it to teleport away from home, but I could also dial it on my mobile phone to return home. What a timesaver!

I got really bogged down in the later portion when all the fast/non-pet-requiring available lifetime wishes were complete, and all I had left to pick from were rabbithole-career-related ones. I got bogged down even more whenever my young adults did "Ask for Promotion", because they usually then suffered a bug where the game would incorrectly think I still worked my old hours and days, and it would reduce my job performance if I didn't report to work on a day I had off (but would not give me any job performance for attending). That bug cost a lot of time.

I had Mom and Dad befriend kids' bosses or future romantic interests so that they could have them already invited over and trapped in the house, when a kid needed to work on their relationship.

I had a thorough door-locking scheme in my house to prevent people from getting into just about anything they shouldn't. For example, I locked up the high chair, stove, food processor, and microwave in a room so that no kids would get serious ideas about them. Especially the high chair--that thing is a magnet for mischief.

I really liked the public-bathroom style toilet stalls (never used them before) since I could cram several toilets into a small space and still have efficient pathing. (I painted the stalls and toilet seats cheery rainbow colors so it didn't look so dreary/officey.)

I learned that Sims with "Dislikes Children" can clear children's and teens' task queues instantly by shooing them from any room. Thornton Wolff made the top of my enemy list when he taught me.

I built a "birthday corral" with a locked gate in the back corner of the lot, so that birthdays would only cause one mass interruption of task queues. This design also happened to isolate fires. I wish I had done birthdays off the lot, though.

Along with not having a sink, when my Sims cleaned out rotten birthday cake or whatever from the fridge, or tried to autonomously empty the toddler potty, I cancelled the action as soon as they had gathered the trash, and then manually dragged the dropped trash to the trashcan for them. I had only the trashcan that came with the lot, to avoid any "Take Out Trash" tasks. I kept the toddler potty in the nursery and, disgusting as it is, never let anybody empty it on purpose. Filth doesn't bother the toddlers or babies, and parents only had to go in there briefly at times.

Well, I hope that is helpful to someone. I certainly cannot wait to someday get the expansion that adds witches, after I've read the stuff you all have done with them.

I have a slightly different strategy, seeing everyone used Vampire, I did not.

Mom - witch (surrounded by family) and Dad - fairy (Fashion Phenomenon)

I only play with one season (summer 28 days long) - this is to minimize the holidays, my teens need to go to work to get promoted, holidays no good for them.  Mom and dad both had the charisma celebrity challenge completed before 1st set of babies born, they both also have the attractive LTR and fertility treatment LTR.  Didn't have enough reward points to buy dusty old lamp at first, so I just took fertility treatment instead and make sure mom watch lots of kids tv and listens to kids music.  All my chidlren were triplets (if there is space).  Also I super pamper mom during pregnancy, I needed to pick the 2 traits for babies.

Babies - born at home, I was too lazy to have babies at the hospital.  All babies were born with traits Genius + Friendly.  Snuggle them till best friend then age up.
Toddlers - both parents have family oriented and nurturing traits, plus toddler all have genius trait - this makes training so much faster.  For skill, just have one parent read skill books to toddler in the library, super fast.  When toddler age up to children, always pick the trait "workaholic".
Children - Mom did convertion ritual.  I put the children on the play table for handiness skill up to 3, then go around the lot picking up gems or metal that mom converted, then age of instant.  I didn't care to tutor them at this stage, the last 2 trait didn't matter.
Teens - With workaholic trait, they can work at home and get promoted fast.  Love charm on romantic interest, I use townies at first, then newspaper delivery person.  Didn't use clone drone.
LTW's - For LTW that involves skill, just pop several potent skill booster.  For rabbit hole LTW, the workaholic trait works well here.

Mom -- during pregnancy, super pamper.  When she is not pregnant, all she does is convertion ritual and making potent skill boosters.
Dad -- full time doing bloom to provide mats for mom to make elixirs.  Later on i had him pick up logic so i can tutor 1 teen for the klepto trait which is needed for one LTW.

I think i made over 500 potent skill boosters / skill boosters in this challenge.

Also when mom have one day left to adult, make sure she get pregnant that day, this will prolong her life (or freeze it) for 3 days.  Do the same before she turns elder.

Another tip is there is this premade sim in the bin, I find that she always starts at 45 days ... dunno why but EA must have put in a code and made her that way.  So my mom started with 45 days :)

I didn't know about using the mobile phone to teleport home. Awesome! That makes the teleporter so much more useful than I had ever thought before.

Another important strategy was for the Jockey LTW. You need to make sure that Shadow Hobble stays around for your first child - she may need resetting as I think there is a problem with the gate on her lot which causes her to get stuck and die otherwise. Shadow has the best skills for entering riding competitions. You can't skill her up fast enough for international, but go for advanced racing competitions to knock out the Jockey LTW fairly quickly - it completes at §10k. If you make friends with Chuck or Johnny you can ask to borrow her, and then enter the competitions that way.

Those lots in MF are small parks, not empty lots so if you deleted them you violated the General Rules.  There are about 9 lots that are small parks and not empty.   They just don't have anything on them or so it seems.  You can tell if it's actually an empty lot because it will have a sideways diamond/plumbob under the bench and most of the lots don't have that.

Ahh. No, I made sure not to touch those ones because of the rules. There goes that theory, then.

I thought it may be still possible to do the martial arts ones by reading the book from the consignment store then sparring with tourists. Plus, the trick with the relics. I didn't get as far as testing if WA objects on home lots counted towards the photos for the photo LTW.

I don't know whether you can do the one that needs the tournament by sparring with tourists, but I did Physical Perfection by having the father and one of the kids learn from book so they could spar together.

The tournament is only available in China.  Even with tourists in a home location - you can't make any challenges as far as the tournament is concerned.   I've got a file where I even have the academy in Sunset Valley and you still can't do the tournament.

Yes, 5 unique metals, that's how many came with the base game. Your post made it sound like you needed all available metals; you just need 5 unique ones.

In my case I did. I do not have Late night or World Adventures installed, so I would have needed 5 out of 6 possible metals. With Gems, I needed 10 out of a possible 14, with the added bonus that I was able to tell them apart just by looking at them.

i thought we had to use sims we made in CAS when we started? wasn't it supposed to be a matter of luck how many days we had? my mum only had 39 days  :'(

You mean the fact there weren't any allowed?    There were a total of 63 LTWs that could be completed.  No one could legally have more than that.
Whoops. I meant the holidays that were obtained for high-school graduations, and also Leisure Days due to seasons (I did set the season settings to summer only, 28 days).
