Done!  Hannah Handee completed 1485 upgrades, with 89% of the unique upgrades for a final score of 1321.  She is happy to put down the wrench!  I am happy to have found the 'trick'.

On to the Nooboos!

Ok, I am delighted I managed 100%....and I too have no idea how the high numbers were achieved. I am thinking it may have to do with ex packs I do not have yet. I am excited to know I will be learning the way soon.
I upgraded 32 uinque items, with a total score of 283 upgrades x 100%= 283
What a lot of hammering. Now I am going to play Hanna Deman and see how the upgrades make a difference in game play. Thanks for the fun!

Turned out I was not patched to Jan 2013. I normaly do not patch past my last expac. Sorry for my error and any confusion it caused.

My revised score is 94% x 283 = 266

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on getting 100%! I have an idea about how the high numbers were achieved, but I don't know how accurate it is.

Oh, what a rush!

Hen Digg managed to go through 2050 upgrades with 94% of unique ones.

2050*0,94=1927

I'm so excited to have figured out the "secret"!

Well, Tommy Walsh (I miss Ground Force) completed 552 upgrades, and 89% of unique upgrades, and would quite like to spend some time pottering about in the garden and nowhere near another spanner or hammer for a while :D

552 x .89 = 491

I think I figured out the secret, just didn't put it into practice as well as some of those amazing scores at the top of the leaderboard, looking forward to finding out how people did it once the challenge ends :)

I've decided to jump in and join this one last minute, because it will force me to play outside my regular style and learn a few things (I hope). I expect Olive Hammers will come in dead last (or close to it), but that's just fine--the point is to have some fun. Doing some preliminary homework, and I'm not playing with all EPs, so I don't think I'll stumble onto the secret strategy.

I've been lurking on the challenges forum for a while and decided to finally try one.  Here is my final score.

Number of Upgrades: 1530
% Unique: 89%
SCORE: 1361

A real, live, finished score for me, hooray! It has been so long since I've had time to participate that this challenge was brand new to me--I think the last challenge I actually finished was in 2010 (right before my son was born, most likely.) though I started some here and there since then. So hello everyone, I've lurked enough to recognize some of your names, but I don't really know anyone. Great scores in this round, everyone. Really impressive!

On one hand, I'm super happy with mine because I had started to think I'd never figure out the "trick". On the other hand, I made some major mistakes that cost me in the long run. If I had done maybe one more practice before my main file, I think I could have easily broken 1800 and matched the highest percentage unique on the board. But I was in a rush to jump in so that I would have time for the nooboos, and screwed my attempt up. Ah well, still a pretty solid score, I think.

Although I have a pretty strong suspicion I know how the 2k+ers did it, I cannot wait to hear strategies!

(Now on to the nooboos...oh boy...)
