I'm starting my game now and rushing to finish. While my score isn't amazing, it's not bad either at the moment. Quite chuffed at the way it's going at the moment. Will post my score later once I've finished the four weeks!! It's 12 p.m for me by the way.

Alright, I'm finished. Jason Handy had:

Objects upgraded: 72
Unique objects upgraded: 28
Percentage of unique upgrades: 87
= 100 x 0.87 = 87

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It's just the Objects upgraded that you multiply with the percent, not the total objects and unique objects.

Oh... that's so disappointing!! Thanks so my score is: 72 x 0.87 = 63

So it's just 63... Oh, man.

Unfortunately I only realised today was the last day, today. So I guess I'm posting the results I managed to get in one session.
I made 20 upgrades and my procentage of unique upgrades is 40%
20x0.4 = 8

Objects upgraded:  1721
Percent unique:  91
Total:  1566

I hope someone will post a list of all upgrades after this . . . I have no idea what I'm missing.

Finally done!

Objects Upgraded: 2312
Percent of Unique Upgrades Completed: 94%

So that's: 2312 X .94 = 2173

That was my first ever challenge and I quite enjoyed it. I was getting really bored by the end though-- time for nooboos and gnomes!

Roxanne - I removed your edit because it was strategy and research that a player must do on their own.   You can't give that kind of information until after the challenge is over.

Holly Handy managed to kill herself while I wasn't paying attention.  Better luck next time I guess...

Objects Upgrades = 65
Percent Unique = 49%
65 X .49 = 31.85

Total = 31

Arynth Roussero managed 89 upgrades, with 89% unique overall, and ended up with a score of 79.21, or 79 before she tragically died.

I was focusing too much on quality rather than quantity in the beginning, before I flipped strategies....at least I finished-ish.

88 players ended up participating in this event...wowza. That is really encouraging for this year's Tournament. Congrats to Simblip who topped this large field. Everyone is now free to share their strategies in this thread. My thanks to all participants...this was a fun one...nice and short. :) I'll see you guys on the leaderboard for Baby Boomer.

Sorry, Rica. I didn't realize that would be strategy. I assumed it was okay because the page was there on the guide and all I did was share the link.

Speaking of strategy, I do have a few things I'd like to share. For those who don't already know ( who I assume, are only the people without Seasons), the big strategy was upgrading umbrellas/parasols. The upgrade is super quick and takes only about 15 seconds to complete. There are two upgrades available: Unbreakable and Glow. Both take the same amount of time, so you would do either and then replace it with the other, and so on. ( at least that's what I did )

I gave my Sim the Handy, Over-Emotional, Ambitious, Loves The Outdoors, and Loner traits. And Swimming In Cash, for the LTW. I also made my Sim a Genie. It doesn't help that much but Genies do learn skills faster, move quickly and I also noticed that the weather doesn't seem to affect them. (  so, no annoying moodlets. I had weather effects turned off, but the heat and the cold was still a problem, since my Sim was going to spend all of her time outdoors ) I went to the Elixir Consignment Shop on the first day and kept on buying elixirs until I got a Midas Touch and a few Wish Enhancing Serums and Potent Skill Boosters. With the Midas touch the LTW was quickly fulfilled and the Lifetime Happiness Points were doubled, thanks to the Wish Enhancing Serum. I then got a Motive Mobile, started upgrading and only stopped for quick rides. I also got the Steel Bladder LTR and a hundred tomatoes. Don't laugh! When you're busy upgrading, hunger and bladder needs are the first ones to drop. So those two things give you some extra time before you have to use the motive mobile for a drive. This was great fun!

And big congratulations to Simblip! It must have been pretty hard to get all those upgrades done-- I couldn't possibly think of doing one more, let alone a hundred!  :D

Edited to add: There's more, but it's all covered in last year's Handiness Championship thread, which I read throughly before getting started.

Oh, the umbrellas! I didn't even know you could upgrade them. I thought the strategy was with the doorbell upgrades. Oops.  :P

My plan could've benefited from a lot more planning. (including a shower) The big part of my plan was to stay hooked on coffee until I could get a moodlet manager. The downside is that I couldn't really move around town to get more upgrades. I also wasn't aggressive enough with trying to complete my LTW, so the Lifetime Happiness came in slowly. Overall, even if I hadn't burned to death, I wouldn't have done very well.  :P

Actually there were two tricks and the other was worse than buying parasols.  It involves cancelling the karaoke upgrades which took 15 instead of 22 minutes.  But the action had to be cancelled after the bar on your head went to full and you had to cancel or it would take longer.

My strat also involved elixirs but I changed my LTW three times to maximize LTHP.  I chose only seasons and used a vampire who loved the outdoors, loved the heat, handy, ambitious and adventurous.    I bought the cheapest empty lot and headed to the elixir shop immediately to use all that extra money.  I was super lucky and by noon I had 5 wish enhancing serums, 2 midas touch, 15 potent invigorating, 10 potent bliss, 6 invigorating, 10 bliss and 5 vampiric sunscreen.    My Sim never slept because I had the motive mobile on the end of the second day.    As she was a vampire I was able to run everywhere on Vacation and I had a Visa Level 3 by 11 am on Day 2 which meant I could go back to upgrading the same parasols.   I thought unbreakable took longer than glow so I just kept rebuying 16 parasols at the time.  Thanks to a Midas touch I didn't need any money.

First LTW was the fireman one I never went to work at the fire station due to days off.    Second one involved the Visa level in every country and as soon as I had it, I switched to Swimming in Cash.  Second vacation was 15 days and then it was just all of the same with alternating hops in motive mobile and using the 24 hr invigorating elixir.

One of the things I made a mistake on was choosing to use the vampires ability to never fatigue and pushing for extra LTHP by making fire chief on the second day.  I should have stopped and immediately moved onto my number maker.   I knew about karaoke one but thought it was more of an exploit so I didn't try it.   I was later told through a lampshade that it's like the guitar thing.   You either know about it or you don't.

Just so everyone knows - there was absolutely no legal way to get 100% in this challenge.     Even if you have just base game, being patched up the game will think you have access to the UFO which is not attainable legally for this challenge.   There are 36 unique upgrades.   The Sims Wiki is missing the mounted wall speaker and if it hadn't been for reading the forums I would have never known it was there.

Roxanne - Players have to do all research themselves even if the research is right here on the guide.    That's why I removed it.   How a player figures out how to find the information is all on them.
