I personally like to keep:

resetsim
Moveonbjects on

I personally use Moveonbjects on to set my house up. Especially the vases you get as a reward from getting the World Adventures expansion. You cant fit many in a small bathroom or a small bedroom.

I agree with what Turoskel said about edit town. It is frustrating to have a 20x30 community lot autoplaced on a 30x30 or a 30 x 40 lot. Especially in Bridgeport that doesn't have a lot of empty lots as it is. Bridgeport ends up having no empty lots at all because of the autoplacement feature that we can't seem to turn off.

Meaning you're vote would be only to allow Resetsim for stuck Sims and no other cheat? Are there edit town changes you would like to see, Lena?

Yes cheats should only be for game failures.
There is simply no need in challenge files for having the house beautiful decorated, and if an item doesn't fit in the room, the room has to be bigger.

Edit town rules hmmm.
Adding missing things, because EA is not putting the stuff from the expansion packs into the cities is fine for me. May this be lots like the Firehouse, or the book cases in the libraries.
Bulldozing empty and adding new empty lots I am against. If you need a lot big enough for the filmstudio, you have to let go off something that is occupying a 64x64 lot (like the festival park/towncenter in sunset valley)

I'll give an example of the use I'd like left in for move objects, the other day my sim was serenading her husband on her grand piano when she jumped out of the action for some reason, it made the piano unusable, when I went into buy mode to replace it I couldn't pick it up because the game said she was still using it, the only way for me to replace it was with move objects on which then let me pick it up. But same as reset sim allow it's use only if it's the only option for fixing it.

If you need a lot big enough for the filmstudio, you have to let go off something that is occupying a 64x64 lot (like the festival park/towncenter in sunset valley)

I may be misunderstanding you Lena but are you saying rather than bulldoze empty lots you'd prefer to bulldoze an existing lot you have no need for and replace it with the one you do need?

I think moveobjects on cheats is fine as long as it is used for stuck objects only (kind of like resetsim for stuck sims only).   I really don't want to see moveobjects on used as an exploit, listed below.

Moveobjects on exploits:
1) Sculpture values.
2) Type of gems and metals you can see without picking them up.
3) Moving objects in game to make life easier, saves time shorter walking distance etc etc.

Can I second the idea of getting rid of lots that we don't need? It slows things down a lot for me, and also gives sims so many more places to get stuck. I think a change in the edit town rules (still only allowing EA lots) would open up the challenge to new types of strategies - I think we need some fresh strategies next year.

I agree that we probably don't need MOO.

I would also prefer MOO for stuck objects too.

Re edit town, I would like:
1) bulldoze lots we don't need/won't use, regardless of empty residential or commercial (no bulldozing residential that have buildings on them, though, even if unoccupied!)
2) move autoplaced lots to more appropriately sized lots
3) if we keep autoplaced lots, I would like to at least be able to bulldoze and replace so it's not autoplaced all cockeyed and wonky (but that's more aesthetics, I suppose)

You may only use the Edit Town screen before you enter Live mode and start to play your Sim(s) for the first time. You may only use the Edit Town screen for the following reasons:

• To add missing Book Corrals or Penningway Bookshelf to a town library. You cannot alter anything else in the library;
• To add missing lots such as Fire Stations, Salons, Laundromats, Consignment Stores, Bars, Subways, Studios, etc., to your neighborhood. Those added lots must either be designed by EA or must be unique to the forum's Union Cove world. You can't alter them in any way. You can grab them in the Lot library or copy paste them from another unaltered EA-designed town/(or Union Cove);
• World Adventure's specific lots cannot be added to your town;
• Only one of a particular building can be added (i.e. one Waylon’s Haunt can be added, not two);
• You cannot bulldoze existing structures to do so — these must be placed on empty lots, but you can bulldoze completely empty lots. This will let you free up space to create new empty lots of adequate size with the Edit World tool;
• You can also change an empty residential lot to a community lot type.
• If the neighborhood you choose has no empty lots on which to build (i.e. Bridgeport) after you've placed your missing lots, you are free to tear down existing homes to have a place to build.


So, ideally I would like to boil this down a bit for 2014. Can I combine a couple of the items into another global one? I just do not know Edit Town that well hehe. Please offer your suggestions soon as I want to put up the final 2014 General Rules by the 15th.

I suppose these could be combined, for example:

Empty residential lots may have their designation changed to a community lot type to allow more space for placement of missing EA or Union Cove lots, either from the lot library or saved from an unaltered EA town or Union Cove. You are also free to bulldoze completely empty lots to free up space for placing new empty lots of adequate size with the Edit World tool.

And these:

Only a single copy of a particular building may be added (i.e. one Waylon’s Haunt can be added, not two) and World Adventures specific buildings are not allowed. Not sure if that's clear enough though, I know what I mean but would somebody just discovering the challenges understand it.

Since there are only 7 towns to pick from with store worlds excluded, I've been looking into community lots in each town. If you want to preserve the integrity of each town, then the most conservative option is:

You may go into Edit Town only to add either the Book Corral or the Penningway Bookshelf to the libraries in Twinbrook and Bridgeport.

If you want to take Sunset Valley, Appaloosa Plains, Moonlight Falls, and Starlight Shores as the norm, then in addition to the above, players could add:

To Bridgeport -- an elixir shop and an equestrian center.
To Twinbrook -- an elixir shop.
To Isla Paradiso -- an elixir shop, an equestrian center, and a performance park.

(To save space, I would allow players to add an elixir cash register to the consignment shops, but that's just a suggestion.)

If you want to allow players maximum flexibility with regard to skills and careers, then state something like:

Players may alter their towns however they wish in order to include bars, the film studio, the equestrian center, the showtime venues, the elixir shop, the gypsy wagon, resorts, the bot emporium, the bot arena, and the observatory.

Edited to add: The reason I refer to AP, SV, MF, and SS as "the norm" is that they already contain a salon, consignment shop, fire station, elixir shop, equestrian center, and performance park.

I would personally like to see the following changed:

• If the neighborhood you choose has no empty lots on which to build (i.e. Bridgeport) after you've placed your missing lots, you are free to tear down existing homes to have a place to build.


You may bulldoze community lots that are autoplaced by the game that you do not need and/or empty houses can be deleted for the community lots. Especially for towns like Bridgeport that have no empty lots when you first start the file. You should be able to bulldoze an empty house for your lot you will be playing on also. Or like in SV where they autoplace the large horse equestrian community lot on the 60x60 lot that has the view buff.

Sorry if this seems confusing, I am having a hard time explaining it.

Like previously discussed, I think it should be stated we are allowed to bulldozes autoplaced lots if they are placed on too big of lots ei. the fire station placed on a 30x40 lot. Not sure how you would want to word it.
