I've noticed that there's a 9-minute discrepancy between my clock and the Forum's clock -- the Forum's clock has the later time. I don't usually go down to the wire, but there probably are people who are affected.

Regarding the new features introduce in Patch 1.55:

Challenge players can purchase private lots (additional homes) without any restrictions.

Using the ability to move town is not allowed except in extreme cases and permission must be granted first.

Please remember that you cannot place an empty lot in a town that does not have a purpose.  This specifically refers to lots placed by a player.  All lots placed by a player have to be used prior to going in game.

Regarding the new expansion pack - Island Paradise:

Unless a specific challenge and it's rules forbids the content, it is allowed.  If you find something in the game play that you think should be not be allowed, don't hesitate to contact the team about it.

Custom Content Clarification:

A clarification needs to be made about certain CC items.  Any item that is marked significantly lower in price for it's value should not be used.  That bed you can get for a §1 that's sleep value of 10.  Don't use it.  Anything that can give an advantage like this is against the spirit of the tournament.  We don't want to have to ban the use of CC just please be careful.


Exploits:

It has come to the team's attention that we have never specifically written somewhere that certain exploits are not allowed to be used in challenges.  The team is currently compiling a list of tricks and exploits to be voted on but there are three we feel need to be addressed now.

From this moment on, the following three exploits are 100% banned from use within a challenge:

♦ Selling items in buy/build mode, hitting the undo button and reselling them.
♦ Reselling an item again because the game placed it on the floor or did not remove it from inventory while the game was paused.
♦ Using the festival ticket glitch to gain extra tickets.  This particular trick is when you place festival tickets inside a cabinet/chest and it doubles the amount you have at the time. The LTR to gain more festival tickets is still allowed unless otherwise stated in a challenge ruleset.

With the addition of each expansion, more and more lots makes the game run more and more slowly.

I would like to propose an amendment to the edit town rules:
Empty residential lots and community lots that the player does not wish to use may be deleted to enable the game to run more smoothly. These lots must be completely deleted (using the sledgehammer tool twice) and may not be used to place other lots, or replaced with a different version. Therefore no advantage may be gained by doing this.

I hope this is not an unreasonable suggestion.

What is X as "Hey, can I do X? " indicated in the General Challenge Rule.

X could be anything.  It's just a filler spot where you would replace X with certain words.

That's always been allowed as it's an EA lot.

I've just been messing about in Bridgeport placing some water lots on the dock area behind the grind and diner just to see how well it worked as there is so little building space there, it works far better than I expected actually.

I put a 64x64 along the straight stretch partially on the land butted up as close as I could to the road and I put the fae ray gardens on it, it came up almost level with the road apart from a 2 tile wide ditch in the front. If I used the new tools and moved the lot forward it dragged the land down a bit making it less accessible but got rid of the ditch, if I left the lot centered and went in and levelled out the ditch it has a nice gentle slope to the entrance.

So is it permitted to place a water lot and then use terrain tools to fix access problems? it could make building in Bridgeport much easier now we can use the water but it occasionally requires a little land tweaking.

As much as I have been wrestling in my head to come up with something brand new for this year's finale, I keep going back to one of my favorite events — http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,6234.0.html. It was the finale 2 years ago and we have not done a straight up opportunities challenge since. I think. Hehe. But, let me know what you guys think. I would not mind putting some kind of new twist on it for this year but I also think it's fine pretty much as is. It is an incredibly easy event ruleswise when you get down to it. Remember...do not discuss potential strategy, etc.

Since its the 4th, (and you said last tournament for sims 3 we will get) the titel is kinda fitting.
Compared to the rules, all game content shouldn't be allowed, the store items that are banned in general rules should still be banned.

I didn't get to play it for real when it was up for the first time so I wouldn't mind you putting it up as the finale.
Now my mind is just going about what will the second last challenge be then.
