Our answer when it came to Sims was exactly the same answer.   You have to enter Create-a-Household every time you start a new file.   Saving to the bin means the Sim Bin not the Household bin.  You cannot use Move In Household ever in a challenge.  You must always enter CAS at the start of each file.

Actually, no it's not.  He said, and I quote, from the previous quote I quoted, "the save to bin option is fine", and mentioned that Pam sometimes does this.  If this has changed, that's fine, but it's not what he said above, and it's also not how he's replied to an identical PM question in the past, and that's why I asked for the clarification in the first place.

My game only has one bin, the household bin, which is where all sims I create in CAS are automatically put when I create them.  Move in household takes from that bin.  In fact, if I create the sims first and then edit the town, I must use "move in household" to start my game -- and that's often the order I do things in.  I'm not discussing the clipboard at all -- that only takes sims that have already seen game play, and of course would not be allowed.

And, thank you for the other answers!  I appreciate it!

When ever you create a Sim and save them in CAS they will be saved to the household bin which is accesable via the move in household option. It is possible to use edit town and save a Sim or household to the household bin they will have all skills and money etc so are therefore not permited in challenges.

If you are playing and you send your Sim to the mirror it is possible to save your Sim to the bin. Then when you go to a new game and enter CAS your Sim will be available among all of the other pre made Sims and you can use them for challenges as they have no skill points.

Save to bin puts them in a bin that's available in CAS only.  This is the bin that Metro & I were both referring to.   There is another Bin while in Edit Town called the Household bin or Library and that's where the game saves Sims that have been placed previously or saved via Edit Town.   This is not the approved bin.    When Metro says "Saving to Bin" he means using the option illustrated below.   (click on image to make it larger)

To Quote you and I quote:
He said, and I quote, from the previous quote I quoted, "the save to bin option is fine",

The above option is "Save to Bin."  Sims saved to the bin are accessible when you go into Create a Household by hitting the button with all the silhouettes on it.

The following is NOT allowed.

Does that make it clearer?  What I said and what Metro said were the same exact thing or else he would have corrected me on it a long time ago.

When you start a new game file, you are only allowed to start with this option.   Never anything else.

It makes no difference to me, I'll be using the Create Household option myself.  However... could you explain how Pam would have used her dynasty Sims in previous tournament challenges if that is the only option allowed?

She saved the Sims to the Sim bin available in Create a Household.

When you download a Sim from the exchange or from the swap shop, that's where they go.

When you enter Create A Household it will look like this.   Players with Pets will see animal silhouettes as well as Sim.  (images when clicked will become larger)

After you choose the Sim Bin button as circled above, you will see a pop up like this.

To only see the ones that you have saved yourself or download.  Choose the * at the top of the pop up.

Everything will automatically be filtered to show the ones that you have installed or saved.   The ones with the little folder icon are ones that have been saved.   If they have a pink * that means they have been downloaded & installed.

Ah, I was not aware of that other interaction!  Thank you for the clarification, I greatly appreciate it.

So this also means that I must remember to edit my town BEFORE I create my sims or I'll be forced to create them multiple times.

Thank you!

Is it ok to place a perviously built lot, from the library into your town, if it's your own? Or do you have to rebuild it once you have moved your sims into a lot?

I know that you can't place anything other than ea or union cove lots, just wondered whether this stands for your own creations as well

Thanks!

If you can only place EA lots or UC lots then that means you can not under any circumstances place your lots as your lots are not made by EA or in UC.

Thanks for quick reply!

Maybe a stupid question but almost added one without thinking, so glad I asked!

Have been a long time reader of the guides here, but the Handyman Challenge pushed me over the edge to join. But I have a question about mods and their use in challenges. Ever since Late Night my game is basically unplayable with all the cars that stack up. I run the Overwatch mod from Twallan and it clears them out each game night at 3 a.m. He has also added some fixes for NPCs that get stuck or become unroutable. I think that was since Supernatural came out. As far as I know, it does nothing else but keep the game from lagging from these issues. Is this mod allowable?

No mods are allowed, period. If you can't play Bridgeport without mods perhaps you should choose a different town for your challenge files.

No mods ever.  None.  Overwatch has been around a lot longer than Supernatural.  Trust me.  Just avoid the towns that are notorious for cars if that's really a problem for you.

Edit: Rosa you beat me by 14 seconds!

Wow, thanks for the very swift reply.

It is every town I play in for me, not just Bridgeport. I have been running the latest version of it ever since Late Night. I will give it a shot without it, but think this rule will keep me from competing. The two to five seconds of lagging every 15 seconds is just unplayable.

There are some towns that don't have the car problem that are also allowed.   I used to have the lag problem but haven't really experienced it.  I don't know what expansions you have to suggest these towns though.  I'm a fan of Twinbrook and Appaloosa Plains myself.  I also tend to buy every property as soon as possible and delete parking spaces.  Just as something to think about.
