How do I move gravestones from family lot to a graveyard?

I want to start a family graveyard.  I have the tombstones of the two founders of my personal dynasty on the family lot.
I want to move them to a family graveyard but not on the family lot.

How do I do that?  I used Edit Town to put a small lot down beside the family lot and marked it as a graveyard. 
But, how do I get the gravestones from my home lot to the graveyard?  Can I make it private so others won't come visiting, or can anyone just stop by to see the ghosts?

Son and his wife have had no problem with the two founders ghosts, grandkids have enjoyed visiting with them.  But, the new addition to the family, grandaughter in law, has been getting scared a lot from their pranks.  She had a baby and I guess it has been bad enough that I was unable to pick the traits.

You can drag remains into your Sims' personal inventory and cart them around - whether it's a headstone or an urn.

Normally, you can leave them at the town cemetery by clicking on the mausoleum and then choosing "manage the dead".  I've not done it myself, but I would expect your Sim with the remains in inventory could place them in the lot you've designated as a cemetery.

Not something I have tried, but:

I would imagine that you would need to place a mausoleum on your lot in order to "manage the dead".

If your family owns the lot (as a business - community lot) you can then build, buy and rearange the lot as you desire.

If you don't want the lot visited by others you would need to change the designation to "no visitors allowed".  I would imagine, that as when gravestones are kept on your lot, ghost appear, this would not affect the generation of apperitions.

In my Immortal Dynasty, I made part of the Summerhill Springs park into a family cemetery.  It wasn't designated as a graveyard and didn't have a mausoleum.  I just fenced off part of it and drug the graves into place.  With the fence around it, I could put a gate and lock it to visitors.  It didn't keep the ghosts in, though.  Someone would come out every night and drive off to somewhere.

I remember the Dreamweaver family graveyard - it was gorgeous, just like everything else you built, Pam.   

I would guess the key to being able to create a family cemetery off of your main lot is that you either own it or it is designated as a cemetery.  I don't think the game allows you to place remains on a non-cemetery lot unless you own it.
