If I have a ghost Sim, will this Sim live forever?

They should dive back into their tombstone on the ground. If you watch them, you can have another sim pick it up. They're definitely not gone for good.

You've had a ghost dog return to the Netherworld and could get it back?  It's been awhile since I've played a ghost, but the time I had one return to the Netherworld, he took his tombstone with him, so it was not possible to do the Oh My Ghost opportunity because it requires the tombstone.

Yes - two, in fact.  One was living with my Sim family and one had moved out with other household members.  The dog's tombstone was in the mausoleum and one of the family brought it back.

So the only way to keep a ghost as a ghost forever is to feed them ambrosia just before their disappearance into the Netherworld and then kill them to become a ghost again?  Or does it not work that way either?

In my Life States Dynasty, I've now had two ghosts who died of other causes (meteor and mummy's curse), lived for a while as playable ghosts, were made human with ambrosia (although one wasn't fully human - she looked solid and couldn't pass through things any more but still floated around like a ghost) and then died of old age.  They're both now NPC old age ghosts.  The one I didn't revive is still in his original form (electrocution ghost).  His urn is still there.

This is true. My ghost sim's urn is in her inventory. I try to drag it outside so that I can give it to someone else. It won't let me. The only option is "go to netherworld." Of course, I'd rather milk my sim and savor her awesomeness than give her away too quickly...

So I assume that with the SuperNatural expansion pack, I can get her back from the NetherWorld?

Judging by my rather limited experience, yes.  Maybe it's changed with a patch.  It certainly isn't Supernatural, because that's one of the expansions I don't have.

Sorry about the double post but it has been a long time in between.  It may just be my Life States file getting large and buggy but this has changed again.  I think it's probably one of the recent patches.  The option to revive the electrocution ghost has now disppeared, although I still have his urn.  I can't Oh My Ghost the two dead pets either, although I'm pretty sure that is a glitch.

Hi, I'm still trying to make sense of Ghosts. The mortal partner of my immortal Vampire songstress is rapidly approaching her Elder days so I'm trying to plan ahead and have a couple of questions.

If a Sim dies of old age, how long will their ghost persist before moving on?
Does adding the grave to a cemetary make the ghost a permanent presence?

I don't quite understand what you mean by persisting before moving on, but I'll try to answer. The ghost is bound to their grave and, barring any awful bugs, they're always there and prime for haunting.

You can add it anywhere and the ghost will still haunt. This can be the cemetery, your backyard, an end table inside, a random community lot, someone else's house, or whatever else you can think of. You can bypass the hauntings by putting the graves in the mausoleum or your inventory, but they can still haunt if you decide to place the grave later.

I was getting the impression that ghosts had their own aging and would stay for a set period (similar to a standard age range for a living sim) before jumping back in their grave/urn an never be seen again?

If I'm reading your post correctly then non-player ghosts are essentially permanent?

Welcome to the forum Jacknife.   I think there is some confusion.    When a Sim dies, they die.  They hop into their urn and they stay there for you to never play again but they will haunt forever.  By this I mean, every couple of days they will pop out between midnight & 6 am only to disappear with the morning sun.

You have the choice to resurrect the Sim through an Opp from the Science facility, the philosopher's stone and Genie wish.   If you resurrect the Sim, they will be in ghost form and will go back to normal aging as it's set in your game.  Then they'll die like any other Sim when they hit the end of their life.. again.

I haven't had a vampire with the Immortal LTR yet, but I'm assuming it freezes age (among other things), right? Does he retain his LTRs upon resurrection? If so, I think he'll stick around indefinitely.

I am still confused about ghost aging!     I just got Aurora Skies and started playing the Olsson household of playable ghosts and the days till aging up is "never."  I've only played a few days so far but I don't know if I should expect them to live forever or to return to their gravestones one day.

They will eventually return to the netherworld.
