If I have a ghost Sim, will this Sim live forever?

I assume she won't die. Right? lol.

They won't die, in fact ghosts are immune to all types of death I believe. They can ''die'' of old age, but all they do is go back to the Netherworld. You can get them back of course.

No, you can't get them back when they return to the Netherworld.  They're gone for good then.

If you want her to survive, you'd be better off having her either eat Ambrosia or drink an Age Freeze potion.

She's the kind that is transparent and floats. I don't know if that's enough information... I started her off as a married woman, but of course, she dies, and now she's a ghost.

There are different kinds of ghosts, though I personally don't know their effect on whether they die or not.  For one ghosts can be dead sims, or they could be born as a ghost.  The Supernatural expansion pack also allows ghosts to be created.  Then there are the different types of dead Sim ghosts, such as from old age, electrocution, fire, drowning, etc.  I take it your ghost is a sim that died of old age, which would be the answer to Pam's question.

No, you can't get them back when they return to the Netherworld.  They're gone for good then.

I know a way but it requires Supernatural, with the Philosophers Stone you can, I have, I was surprised that I could.
Edit: I retested it for the sake of having accurate info and it's true, no fluke. Sims can be brought back from the Netherworld with the Philosophers Stone, it doesn't matter if they choose to go back, you can still get them.

Yes.

In fact, I think you can get them back again with Oh My Ghost, despite the in-game message.  I've certainly done it with a ghost dog.

If they stay as a ghost, they age up normally but don't die.  They just go back into their urn/gravestone at the end of their lifespan, just like unplayable ghosts going back at dawn.  No Grim, no mourning, no in-game alert, even.  If you don't happen to have the camera on that Sim at the time, you'll miss it completely.  A non-old age ghost will keep their original appearance after losing their grip on the mortal realm.  Also, regardless of how many happiness points they've earned as a playable ghost, they'll keep the same type of urn/gravestone.  The only way to change things is with ambosia - they will then become just like a normal Sim.

So the only way to keep a ghost as a ghost forever is to feed them ambrosia just before their disappearance into the Netherworld and then kill them to become a ghost again?  Or does it not work that way either?

You've had a ghost dog return to the Netherworld and could get it back?  It's been awhile since I've played a ghost, but the time I had one return to the Netherworld, he took his tombstone with him, so it was not possible to do the Oh My Ghost opportunity because it requires the tombstone.

This is true. My ghost sim's urn is in her inventory. I try to drag it outside so that I can give it to someone else. It won't let me. The only option is "go to netherworld." Of course, I'd rather milk my sim and savor her awesomeness than give her away too quickly...



So I assume that with the SuperNatural expansion pack, I can get her back from the NetherWorld?
