Traps and the attempt to cross [Solved]
« on: December 03, 2012, 03:08:06 PM »
I'm working with some traps and i had a few wall fire traps firing at (3,3) with the intent that the sim would have to use the "Attempt to cross" interaction to get past it.

That worked my first test run through the tomb but I'm also setting up a lever in the final room to reset all hidden doors and traps just in case a player decides for what ever reason he or she wants to reset the tomb. With that one lever pull everything would be reset except the room fogging which can be done in build mode by Control-Shift-Clicking on any tomb room marker and select Fog>Reset>Reset fog on lot, which would re-hide the entire tomb all at once.

The problem I'm having is after resetting all the traps the "Attempt to cross" interaction on those wall fire traps is grayed out and when moused over it says "There is no way to slip past this trap."

At first I thought I must have had the lever set something wrong. I've tried all sorts of combinations of activated behaviors resetting the trap but nothing I've tried restores that "Attempt to cross" interaction.

Anyone have idea what's causing it to be grayed out? Ands how to fix it?

I've even tried deleting the traps replacing them with new ones with no success.

Edit: Turns out the activated behavior "deactivated" is NOT the equivalent of dissarmed but "Destroyed" is.

the trap on the other side of the trap that needed to be "Attempt to cross"ed was only deactivated and a sim can not stand on a deactivated trap even though it's deactivated. It has to be in the "Destroyed" state for a sim to be able to stand on it and then the "Attempt to cross" is available on the preceding trap.

Hope this helps some one else in the future.
